Sunnyside Pre-school Playgroup is a thriving group that caters for young children in the Kingsthorpe district of Northampton. We offer children the opportunity to learn through play in a_ stimulating and nurturing environment, which in turn gives parents the opportunity to work or train. Sunnyside Pre-school Playgroup is run by a parent management committee which is an important part of our local community. The preschool strives to be responsive to the needs of that community.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

Achievements and performance

The main achievements of the preschool for 24/25 have been:

We have employed a new staff member who has vast experience of working in school, She has been an absolute asset to the pre-school by being able to support the children’s development in phonics, maths and reading using her experience and knowledge gained from doing this in schools, she has managed to adapt her teaching to age appropriate levels at preschool. General repairs, we have had to replace the ramp to the front of the building due to the wood rotting. A new higher gate has been fitted to the top of the ramp making it much more secure. Two staff members have successfully passed two out of three exams towards their level 5.

We were successful in securing a grant from Nationwide for £4,000 meaning we can now go ahead with plans to create a sensory garden at the side of the building. We have managed to purchase some new resources using extra funding for SEN children, resources will support their development and development of others. Purchased: balance bikes, electronic writing boards, bubble wall to enhance the SEN space inside. Role-play resources, doll buggies and car seats. The preschool is full to capacity for September 2025, with a long waiting list of children who still require a place, and a growing waiting list for September 2026

The pre-school continues to be proud of its good reputation.

REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE SUNNYSIDE PRE-SCHOOL PLAYGROUP

Charity number 802392

ON ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR END 31*' May 2025

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts.

The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:- examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act.

-to follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission.

-to state whether particular matters have come to my[attention]

Basis of independent examiners statement

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented within those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, nd consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent examiners statement

In connection with my examination, no matter nas come to my attention:

  1. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: - to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the charities Act: to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met, or

  2. To which in my opinion attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached
