INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 5 APRIL 2021
| report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 5 April 2021, which are set out on pages 5 to 12.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 {the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
« examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
« to follow the procedures laid down in the genera! Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
-
e tostate whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters, The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
in connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
-
(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
-
e tokeep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
-
e tO prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
have not been met; or
{2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached,

-
« examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
« to follow the procedures laid down in the genera!

REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 5S APRIL 2021
The Trustees present their annual report and the financial statements for the year ended 5 April 2021.
Structure, governance and management
The Charity is governed by a Deed of Settlement dated 11 October 1989 and is a registered charity, No. 802388, managed by Trustees. The registered office is Park House, Woburn Park, Woburn, Milton Keynes, MK17 9PG.
The Trustees who served during the year are set out on page 1. The power of appointing new trustees is vested in the existing Trustees of the Charity.
Any new trustees will be chosen by the existing trustees for the skills and experience they can bring to the Charity and any training needs will be assessed on an individual basis.
Objectives and activities
The charity is for the benefit of charitable purposes or institutions within or outside the United Kingdom. Donations may be paid in such manner and such proportions as the Trustees may from time to time in their discretion determine.
Within the Charity’s broad charitable purposes, the policy of the Trustees is to support charities associated with animals, the environment, and to such other causes as they see fit.
During the year the charity has primarily made donations to wildlife, animal and conservation focused organisations in accordance with its stated charitable purpose.
As a general rule donations are not made to major national charities although a retevant local branch activity may be supported.
Grant applications are normally considered once a year by the Trustees. Applications should be submitted in writing to the registered address for the attention of the Charity’s administrator.
The Trustees have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing their aims and objectives. The policy set by the Trustees is to support a variety of charitable projects in the future in making grants to other organisations at their discretion. In doing so the Trustees give due consideration to the nature of each organisation either as a UK registered charity ora community not for profit project.

REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED5 APRIL 2021 (continued}
Incoming resources
During the year the Trustees received donations amounting to £195,137 (2020 - £36,875) and bank interest amounting to £2,449 (2020 - £4,047}.

Plans for Future Periods
It is the intention of the Trustees to continue to operate the charity as it has been operated during the year under review.
Statement of Trustees’ responsibilities
Charity law requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of its incoming resources and application of resources for that period. In preparing those financial statements, the Trustees are required to:
-
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently,
-
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent,
-
prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the Trust will continue in the foreseeable future.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act and relevant Statements of Recommended Accounting Practice. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
Public Benefit
The Trustees have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing their aims and objectives. The policy set by the Trustees is to support a variety of charitable projects in the future in making grants to other organisations at their discretion.
-
« examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
« to follow the procedures laid down in the genera!
