Chalrnian's Summary
For the yoar endèd 31 May 2021
A good start was made wth a film crew from BBC's"Bargain Hunf proJrarnme visiting the Museum to
record footage with presenter Charles Ross. A great tine was had by all and this was broadcast on
BBC1 on August 22Dd This welcome puNKity brought many erquires from all over the ￿r1d about
the museum but 2020-21 will go down as the year of Covwj pandernic which changed everything
about the way we Iwed. The year began with us under government insltuth.ons to Stay at home. We
thought that the lockdown would be a lemp(*ary meagjre lo deal ￿￿th a rampant virus and th81, once
il was over, 'business-as-usual' might resume. relaINe￿ quK*ly. At Ihe end of the financial year
museums aTKI galleries woss the county remained ckjsed and otsr publ￿ events h*1 been
p)stponed.
We were unable to hold our yeady trustee AGM. due to the cowd restrKtior6 however. we continued
communicating by email.
Visitors to our website increased by over 54%, as peoF4e sought inlormation from their homes. We
engaged with the public on FacebcM)k. and our web￿te, and receiv￿1 many p￿tiVe COmn￿nIs.
Financially, we were hugety grateful for oui Covid grants wh￿h carne in the wake of the impact
lockdowns had on our inc4)ne. This had dr*d up C￿p￿telY due lo the enfOr￿d dosures lo the
public.
During the accounting perth our progrwnme of routine maintenanc& continued both insKle and
outside of the bLsilding by trustee J. Ling.
The Trust still occupies the old p￿rnIses at Blacksmi(h Road, Cotton wilh 80% of its ty)Ilection being
housed there. Progress is being made lo transfer the items over to The Grange.
The largest single overheaj Continu￿ to be the insurance premiurn covering the Museum buildings
and the exhibrt5.
The majority of routine work on the exhibits was unthrtaken by the Tr¥Jstees s￿1 voluntary staff and
their continued support h￿1 a milwJating effect on expenditure over the period.
