## **Description of the charity’s trusts**
Type of governing document The Group's governing documents are those of the The Scout (eg. trust deed, constitution) Association. They consist of a Royal Charter, which in turn gives authority to the Bye Laws of the Association and The Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association. How the charity is constituted The Group is a trust established under its rules which are common to all (eg. trust, association, company) Scouts. Trustee selection methods The Trustees are appointed in accordance with the Policy, Organisation (eg. appointed by, elected by) and Rules of The Scout Association.

The Committee consists of 3 independent representatives, Chair, Treasurer and Secretary together with the Group Scout Leaders, individual section leaders and parent’s representation and meets every 2 months.

This Group Executive Committee exists to support the Group Scout Leader in meeting the responsibilities of the appointments and is responsible for:

- • Group public occasions;
- Assisting in the recruitment of leaders and other adult support;

The group has in place systems of internal controls that are designed to provide reasonable assurance against material mismanagement or loss, these include 2 signatories for all payments and comprehensive insurance policies to ensure that insurable risks are covered.

- undertake new and challenging activities
- make and live by their Promise.

Scouting activities consisting of a programme of weekly meetings and adventurous activities and camps tailored to the age group of the Beaver, Cub and Scout sections.
The Group meets the Charity Commission's public benefit criteria under both the advancement of education and the advancement of citizenship or community development headings.

The Group relies entirely on it’s Uniformed Leaders, Assistant Leaders, Executive Committee members and other helpers, who are all unpaid volunteers, to deliver it’s programme of activities, maintain it’s premises and achieve it’s objectives and is grateful to all those who give their time in support of the Group.

Section D Achievements and performance
**Summary of the main achievements of the charity** Approximately 130 young people between the ages of 6 and 14 attended **during the year** one of the 2 Beaver Scout, 2 Cub Scout and 2 Scout sections in the Group during the year. In addition one of the local Wokingham District Explorer Scout sections for 14 to 18 year olds continues to be based at our premises. As in previous years the sections have run full and varied programmes of meetings, activities and camps.

the charitable activities of the group should income and fundraising

replacement of the Group’s equipment, planned work and unexpected
large maintenance costs.

The Group’s main sources of funds are membership subscriptions, hall bookings, Gift Aid and the fees for the camps and other activities.
The Group’s expenditure is split between 3 main areas, the maintenance of the Scout Hut premises and its grounds, capitation (the membership subscription passed onto the local Scout District) and expenditure on scouting activities and camps.
The Group does not have sufficient funds to invest in longer term investments. The Group has therefore adopted a risk averse strategy to the investment of its funds. All funds are held in cash using only mainstream banks or building societies.

The building was constructed in 1990 and was funded by loans which have been fully repaid. The original cost of the building is unknown.
The building is currently insured for £372,698.
A rental of £1,824 per annum is payable to Wokingham District Council.
