## **ROYAL BOROUGH OF KINGSTON SCHOOLS CHRISTIAN WORKER TRUST** **(Working as “Insight”)** ## **ANNUAL REPORT & ACCOUNTS** **For the year ended 31[ST] MARCH 2026** 1 ## **ROYAL BOROUGH OF KINGSTON SCHOOLS CHRISTIAN WORKER TRUST ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR TO 31[ST] MARCH 2026** The ROYAL BOROUGH OF KINGSTON SCHOOLS CHRISTIAN WORKER TRUST (Insight) is a registered charity no. 801025 (the “Charity”) and is constituted by Deed of Trust. Its address is Argent House, 175 Hook Rise South, Surbiton, Surrey KT6 7LD.. Its bankers are CAF Bank. ## **Committee** The charity is administered by a General Committee which is composed of delegates of sponsoring churches who meet four times per year. The following served as committee members in the year ended 31 March 2026: Pim Piers Chairman Soon Bee Ong Hon Treasurer Paul Simpson Peter Wilkins Isobel Moreland Dean Dryden Raymond James Maria James Philip Cooper Roderick Braine Ruth Burkinshaw John Waters Scott Maclean Anne Underwood Emily Waterworth The Trustees of the Charity during the year ended 31 March 2026 comprised: Pim Piers (Chairman) Paul Simpson Maria James Raymond James Soon Bee Ong (Treasurer) Scott Maclean New trustees are appointed by resolution of a meeting of the existing trustees and would normally be members of the general committee. 2 ## **Objectives and Activities** The objective of the Charity is the furthering of Christian Educational work in and around the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, particularly in primary and secondary schools. When planning the Trust’s activities for the year, the trustees, committee members and workers have considered the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and, the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. The public benefit requirement has been complied with by the provision, free of charge, to schools and other educational bodies who utilise our services, of both our staff who hold qualified teaching status, and the resources and volunteer support which accompany our activities and services. At the date of the report, the Charity employs one full-time and three part-time staff to visit local schools. There is also administrative and school support given by volunteers. ## **Staffing and Committee** There are some changes to staffing and members of the committee since the date of our last report, including two people leaving to go back into teaching, and one person going on maternity leave, leading to the hiring of two part-time temporary workers for maternity cover. For the coming year, one of those temporary workers is becoming permanent, the person on maternity leave is returning and an additional full-time permanent staff member is joining in September 2026. ## **Achievements and Performance** During the reporting period, Insight has worked with over 25 schools in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and the Royal Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Schools work across both boroughs included RE/PSHE/Citizenship lessons, lessons of Christian viewpoints on topical and ethical issues, discussion groups together as well as support for secondary school Christian Unions and primary school Bible Clubs. ## **Office** Insight’s office relocated in July 2026 from The Berrylands Christian Centre, Surbiton to Argent House, 175 Hook Rise South, Surbiton, Surrey KT6 7LD. ## **Finances** As the Trust’s gross income for the year is less than £250,000, the accounts have been prepared on a receipts and payments, or the cash basis. The Trust finished the year with a reported cash balance carried forward for the year of £176,982, with a cash deficit of (£20,460) in the General Fund, a cash deficit of (£13,564) in the Restricted Fund set up for the Richmond work, and a cash surplus in the Designated Fund of £211,006. The Designated Fund is intended to support the ongoing work of the Charity and also for future projects, and this Fund can be freely transferred to the General Fund and /or the Restricted Fund to support the ongoing work. Funding comes from local churches and individuals. Donations and associated gift aid to the General Fund during the financial year totalled £118,723 compared to £93,296 last year. Net income for the General Fund was a deficit of £2,663 compared to a deficit of £40,362 last year. 3 It is the policy of the Trust to ensure that the total of our cash reserves is sufficient to cover at least two months of expenditure. Mr. Pim Piers Chair Date: 21 August 2026 4 **ROYAL BOROUGH OF KINGSTON SCHOOLS CHRISTIAN WORKER TRUST** ## **Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of the Royal Borough of Kingston Schools Christian Worker Trust** I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Royal Borough of Kingston Schools Christian Worker Trust for the year ended 31 March 2026, which are set out on pages 6 and 7. ## **Responsibilities and basis of report** As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. ## **Independent examiner’s statement** I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: - accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act; or - the accounts do not accord with the accounting records. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
