building and the grounds. Volunteers also
welcome visitors to the synagogue.

activities of the synagogue returned to
normal in 2022.
The synagogue has held services regularly
on the Jewish Sabbath and major festivals,
both in the synagogue and simultaneously
on Zoom.
Non-Jewish visitors, who are interested in
learning about the synagogue and the
Jewish religion, were welcomed in person
and on Zoom to services and other events.
The synagogue was again able to hold our
annual Heritage Open Day. During this
year the Synagogue was opened for 2 days
instead of 1 day. These attracted a huge
220 visitors. Visitors were able to look
around the building and cemetery, learn
about the history of the building, and of the
Jewish community in Medway, and a little
about Judaism alongside having the
opportunity to taste some traditional Jewish
food while chatting to the Community and
others. Feedback from visitors was
overwhelmingly positive.
Visits by local schools, youth groups and
religious groups also resumed at better
than pre-pandemic levels, with very
positive feedback received from teachers
about the level of detail provided, and its
appropriateness for the children whose
ages ranged from 5 to 11.
The Synagogue held an Inter-Faith service
as part of Inter-Faith Week, and were joint
organisers of the Medway Holocaust
Memorial Day event.
The synagogue played a leading role in the
creation of the new Communities and Faith
Forum (CFF) for Medway which brought
together 50 organisations and communities
across different faiths, races, ethnicities
and localities to help thousands of
individuals across Medway from March
2020 in terms of food, prescriptions, getting
to medical appointments and many other
tasks. Although the Pandemic has now
