distributing Company limited by Guarantee of its Members. tt is govemed by its Memorandum and
Articles of Association.
The objects for which the Company is registered are to advanc* education by the encouragement and
promotion of the Art of Theatre Design in the Brilish Isles and Commonwealth and elsewhere by
British designers arKI designers working in the British theatre.

The Natror)al Exhibttton of UK PerforrrRnce Design 2023 Festival was held from the IxgTnning of 2023
over several months (with each county or region having their own time frame and specffic event
dates), leading up to the Prngue QU￿ArennIa1. The 15th Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design
and Space (PQ) took pla￿ between 8th arKI 18th June 2023. During this time PQ exhibition
spaces and festival venues attracagd npaty 11,000 acerodit•d visitors or ono4ay ticket holdars.
The purpose of ts ho110 stranger UK festival was to ￿ntr0 the voi(xs of designers and to
emphasise opportuniiies for gathering, sharing and socialislng. ft was led by a network of UK-based
perfomance designers, curating public facing events. hosted by venu8 partners. with support from
higher education collaborators acr066 thirteen regions nationwide from all 4 Countries of the UK. The
designer-curator5 were tasked with activating public spaces within local theatres and other cultural
institutions through events that took stock of Ihe four years of perfonTk8nce design in the UK
2019-2023. and posed questions about where we are headed. These events centred sustsinabilty.

the inteNentions celebrated the Vol￿ of costume designers through offering interactive and
contemplativo experiences that cwtivety explored costume design.

sound, screen and costume installation and an in4epth &xamination of the English National Opera's
(ENO) 2021 production of La Boheme.

'Lost Voices, brought to life the 2019 ￿-prOductIon of Hans81 and Gretal from ENO and Regenfs Park

visitors to the museum sketched as live opera singers perforn￿d selected OP8fd arias and later a
cA)stume d&sign workshop.
In 'Page to Stage and Song, vi8itor8 investigated the prooess and skills invol￿d in designing and

The South East exhibition and M>Tkshop series ftXX￿ed on Ihe design process. By pkcing the
exhibition at The Margate School (an 8th1￿1 arKI alternative art school): located in an okl Woolworths
on the High Street in Margate, the aim vrds to illustrate the design pr￿sS to the local comrnunty as
they passed by. Visitors to the exhibition experienced the fabulous range of local perfomance design
on show, not only through objects displayed in the wiThJow and througtM)ut the space, but also through
workshops on set and cxjstume design. The event induded a panel discussion with ￿ntrIbutIonS from
local designers, perfomiers and makers, foeused on the Current destgn landscape, post pandemlc and
in a climats and financial crisis.

rendered, creating a Sl￿Inable digital archive. Consisting of digital s(%nography maquettes of
productions that had been perfOrn￿l over the 2019 to 2023 periL¥J, making use of a range of (figital
resources, including 3D PhOtOps￿nn1ng. 3D modelling and renden.ng sofiware. The 3D digrtised
s(*nogr8phy was (x)nverted into AR models allowing visitors to 8xplor8 th8 designs in cont8xi using
an app.
