Activities

The purpose is to promote the efficiency of The Rifles by maintaining contact between past and present members, including those from former regiments. The Association fosters esprit de corps, comradeship and welfare. Control is exercised through Association Branches within the County of Somerset and the City and County of Bristol.

Objects: A. To Promote The Efficiency Of The Rifles (The Regiment) By: (1)Maintaining Contact Between Former Members Of The Former The Light Infantry, The Former The Somerset Light Infantry And The Former The Somerset & Cornwall Light Infantry (The Former Regiments) And Former And Serving Members Of The Regiment, Fostering Mutual Friendship Between Them And Providing For Social Gatherings For Them; And 2)fostering Esprit De Corps, Comradeship And The Welfare Of The Regiment And Preserving Its Traditions And Those Of The Former Regiments. B. To Relieve Either Generally Or Individually Members Of The Association And Former Members Of The Former Regiments And Former Or Serving Members Of The Regiment Who Have Had Regular Or Embodied Territorial Army Service, And Their Dependants, Who Are In Need, Hardship Or Distress.
