Achievements and Performance
This year was one of further re-consolidation post Covid-19. Our user groups thrived and the hall hosted a number of social fundraising events. Work was done to review existing and add additional policy and procedure documents to support the hall’s activities and grant applications. Further work was undertaken to create a rolling five-year plan to capture, prioritise, finance and action key building maintenance and improvement works.
We are very grateful for the advice and support from villagers which resulted in the successful application for a National Lottery Community Fund grant of £8,645 for the purchase of new chairs and kitchen appliances. Our thanks also to the Trunch Village Society for its grant of £300 towards the cost of replacing the gas boiler flue.
The village hall fundraising team raised £5,519 towards the overall running costs and maintenance of the hall. This was achieved by monthly coffee mornings and games afternoons, and four quiz evenings. In addition, we held a jumble sale, Pamper & Prosecco evening, Murder Mystery Night and a Seasonal Souper Sale, as well as participating in the Trunch yard sale with refreshments very kindly provided by members of Trunch Friends. Regular raffles alongside the events were very popular. All events were well attended and received. Our thanks to the many volunteers who help and support us in these events, for which we are very grateful.
The village hall launched a 100 Club to help fund energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, green initiatives and other sustainable energy projects to make our village hall greener and more economical to run.
It is confirmed that the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. The above summary of activities conducted during this year supports this.

Financial Review The hall's accounts for the financial year ending 31 December 2023 have been independently examined and approv8d. We opened the year with a balance of £36,830.66 and closed with a balance of £49.731.18. Of this, £12,935 is restricted funds which will be spent in the 2024 financial year. Income totall8d £28,575. Main sources w8r8 from hiring the hall, fundraising, a National Lottery Community Fund grant, and proceeds from the 100 Club. The hall's annual 6xpenditure amounted to £15,674, of which £7,794 was spent on roof inspections and a range of building maintenanc8 and improv8m8nt proj8Cts. The main financial risk is loss of hiring and fundraising income. The trustees, policy is to keep cash reserves of £11 ,000 to cover on8 year's operational costs in the event of a loss of income and to meet any unforeseen exp8nditur8 that may occur.
