The Charity is oyganised as an amateur choir with up to eighty auditioned members. Regular
rehearsals are held 10 enable ihe perfomance of approximately Six concerts per year.

A Board of Directors and a Committee administer thc Charity. The number of Directors 15 subj¢d
to a rninimum ofthree and a maximurrt of nine. One-thtrd of the DirectOTS retire annually by roration
at ihe Annual General Meeiing. The DI￿10rS and Committee are eleC￿d from the membership by
the membership at the Annual Genernl Meding
The Board of Directors and Committee consist of urlpaid volunieets upon whom the Charity is
dependent for its continued exisr¢n¢e_ Meeting5 arc held at regular inlervals io tonsider financial
results and plan for fiJNre perfomiances. The Treasurer issues regular reports at these meetings to
explain the financial posilion of ihe Chariry and the implieaiions of resulrs to date on the planned
concert programme.

the cost5 of major eoncerts or commissions of new music.

The choir depends on a small nwnber of volunte¢T5, all of wlN)rn are singing members. io organi5e,
coordinaie, and administer it5 aaivirie5. namely rehearsing and wforming public concerts. These
volunteers have the following main funclions.. Chairni¥n, Concert Planner, Treasurer. Company
Secrcfary, Publicity Cfy)rdinaior. Concert Manager. Tickets, McmbershiNRecruitment. and
Minutcs Secreiary.
Reservts Poli¢y
There is a rteed for the Choir io prefund concens, so the Charity requir¢5 reserves in older io
operaie. The reserves policy of ihe Chariry is io retain sufficient resource5 to provide adequate risk
control and working capital for its programme of or¢hestral coneerts and musical events. The
Committee reviews Ihe Thrtt Year Con¢en Plan and eortside￿ afternatives to employ the surplus
available.
Con¢¢rt Contingency Fund
The Choir faces a small. iwt significanl risk of a major shortfall of income on each concert it
promotes, ￿rtICularlY from its more expensive orche5trJl concerrs. For instance, from the effects
of a train sirike. major sporting event or adverse w¢aiher conditions. The Charity therefore
designaied this fwid in 2000 to eannark sufficient re%)urces to meet the major costs of an orchestral
concert. This fvnd is updaied each year to reflect changes in costs. and is financed by invesimu)fs
in Charifvnd income units and deposits at TSB Bank plc.
Genernl Fund
The General Fund provides for all the working capiial needs of the Charity. in¢h]ding deptssits for
future hire of concert venues. The size of ihis fund will necessarily fluciuale each year a5 con¢ert
results and ￿ndraising aciivilies are often wipr¢dictable. The main financial obj#iive is io ensure
thai sufficient resources are always maintained to m¢¢t the budgeted costs of future concert% and
keep the Concert Conringency Fund fijlly fvnded.

The nei result for the year was a deficit of £5.499 (2022.. deficit of £2.61 D. The Chariry had net
¢ts of £28,696 at ihe year-ertd12022-. £34.195). The Direciors are sat15fi¢d with the result5 for
the year and are Confident ihat adequate resources exist for the Charity to continue as a going
concern.

CHAIRMAN'S REVIEW OF ACTIVITIES
Harry Bradford continued io lead us for the 2022123 season, our 45 We began with an open
rehearsal. which was suctessfijl in attracting and subsequenily r¢¢ruiting som¢ new singers. The
singing day in FebTUary 202J also brought in some extra voices_ Ov¢r the 5¢ason, the number of
singers has increased slowty. but sieadily_

programvne and allracied a larger than expected audieiK¢_
December 2022- Christmas concert Now may we singen ai Si Mary-ai-Hill EC3. Thi5 too
attracted a good. enthusiasric audience.
February 2023 Singing Day ar St Mary-at-Hill Eci. This was a well-attended and
enjoyable event. The venue was found not io be ideal. 50 fvture stnging day5 will be at St
Cyprian's. our rehearsal venue.
March 2023 - Handel's Is*ael Egyw at St John's Smith Square SW l. This represented
our firsi concert ai SJSS since Covid. The choir, orchestra and s01ois1% were all on lop fomi.
There was a good, appreciative audience. The number5 were Unfr￿tunatelY affccted by a
rail strike that day, which kept many people away.
July 2023 Setsndinttvtun delighis at St Mary-at-Hill EC3. Harry had promised us an
exciiing and varied programme. and we were not disappointed. As 15 usual for (he summer
concert choir number5 were dowm, which did affect the audience.

membership is now approaching 60. a much healthier picwre in lenn5 of quality and finaT]cial

The Choir r¢¢eived a iotsl of £1.834 (2022.. £3,941). All donations are welcomed as a 5ignifLcant
