(l) Membership
The Clwity AS orgauised as an amateur ¢boir with up to ¢i8bty auditlODed members. Regular
Tebearsals are beld to enable the perfontwice of approximately six concerts per year.

A Board of Directors ¥nd a Cornrnittee administer the Charity. The number of Direciors is subject
to a minimum of three and a maximurn of nine. One-third of theDireciors retire annually by rotation
at th¢ Annual General Meeting. The D]'re¢tors and Committee are elect￿ from the m¢mbersbip by
the membership at the Annual G¢nw71 Meeting
The Board of Directors and Committe¢ consist of unpaid volwite¢rs UPOD wbom the Charity is

The Chariiy. like most choirs. t¢rforn￿ a repertoire of music that 15 necessarily deF¢ndent on the
generosity and support of its Patrons and Sponsors. This is an imwrtani source of financial support
for the Choir, particularly from sponsorship of specific concetts.
Sponsorship income is also sought from 8rani making EKKlies ar￿ busin¢ss¢s to contribute toward5
Ihe ¢osls of major ¢onc¢ns or cornmissions of llew music.
Reserves Policy
There is a need for ihe Choir to pr¢fiJnd conc¢rt4 so the Charity requires reserves in order
operate. The res¢rYes policy of the Charity is io r¢taitt suffi¢i¢nt resources io provide adequate risk
control and workn'ng Capital for its programme of orchestral concerts and musical event5. The
Comtnittee reviews the Three y￿ Collcert Plan and considers aliemativ¢s to employ the suq)lus
available.
Concer¢ ContingeD¢y Fund
The Choir faces a small. but si￿1ficant risk of a major shonfall of income on exb concert it
promote4 particularly from its morc expcnsive orchestral concerts. For instance. from the effects
of a train strik¢. major swrtmg event or adverse weatber conditions. The Charity ther¢fore
desip)ated this fund in 2000 10 earmark sufficieoi resources to meet the major costs of an orchestral
concert. This fund is updated each year to reflect chang¢s in costs, and is finan￿1 by inv¢stment$
in Charifynd income utiits and deposits at TSB Bank plc.
General Fund
The General Fund provides for all the working capital needs of the Charity. including deposits for
fijture bire of concert venues. The size of this ￿nd will Decessarily fluC￿at¢ ¢a¢h year as ¢on¢¢rt
results and fundraising a¢tiviti¢s ar¢ often unpredictable. The trLain financial objective 15 to ensur¢
that sufficient resources are alwa￿ maintained to meet the bUd￿ted cosrs of fuwre ¢on¢¢rts. and
keep the Concert Contingency Fund fully funded.
Covid
During covid cooditions affecting the last finaDcialyear. the choir had taken steps to cope with the
effects on and limitation of our activities. For iDStance, we had su¢c¢ssfully transferred prepaid
¢on¢¢rt ¢har8es io futur¢ ¢on¢¢rt da￿ without lo￿ of value. In the current financial year activity
begins to return to nornial with their Ixing five concerts performed iu the year. Income and
donations bave begun to IncTease and expenditur¢ in-rurn has be&un to Ir￿[eaSe.
FinaD¢ial results
The net result for the year was a deficit of £2.617 {2021: s￿￿luS of £2,6(KJ). The Charity had net
assets of £34,l95 at the year<nd (2021.. £36,812). The Directors are saiisfied with the results for
the year and are confident that adequate r￿OurceS exist for tb¢ Charity to continue as a going
concern.

CHAIRMAN'S REVIEW OF ACTIVITIES
We had a swi for our44 season. The WO￿ of Covid was over alld we clwiged our rehearsal
venue lo St Cyprian's Church NWI. Having in the previous yw sel￿ted a short-lisi of thr¢¢
coniendus to be our n¢w N(D, we finally hdd auditions in front of member5 of the choir in
September. The ovm¥helming choi¢¢ was for Harry Bradford. who look up the rol¢ from January
2021
For th¢ r¢5t of 2021, Jeremy Jackman was still our MD. W¢ perform¢d a¢ a paid ¢ngag¢m¢nt at
t£snes Abbey in Abbey Wood. He then led us for a very successful Cbtistmas concert itL early
December. This was closely followed by Ihe MENCAP Yarols by Candl¢lighE-. Finally. we bid a
fond farewell to Jeremy at a party we held in his honouT and presented him witb a special g]ft paid
for by geneTOUS donations from the ¢hoir.
We illvited Harry to a meeting in 2021. $0 that w¢ ¢ould plan for the y¢ar ahead. R¢h¢arsals then
begati in eatt)￿ iTTr Sanuary 2022, when we launched into Bach's StJohn Passion in Gennan. Harry
has proved to be an experienced. charismatic, and knowl¢dg¢abl¢ wndu¢ior. and has cenainly
moiivai¢d the Choir after the Ullavoidable pandemic. The Passion was also the focus of our Singing
Day in February, p)stPODed from last year. at which we had a surprisingly good attendance and as
a result recruited six new singers. ]n Aptil. w¢ sang it to a fi￿1 bouse, the firsi concert with an
or¢h¢stra for thr¢¢ Y￿r& The feedback was surKrlative. The choir. orchestra and soloisls all
perfoTmed exceptionally.
For the summer concert, Hary selected music under the banner ByRo}￿lAppoinIMertt to ¢¢l¢brat¢
the 70. anniveTsary of the Queen's reign. This ¢hall¢nging prO￿ll￿¢ was ￿Joyed by a smaller.
but disc¢rning audien¢e wbo enjoyed it wady.

Chris Hawkins our Company Secretary for manyyears is leaving at the next AGM. His r¢pla¢em¢ni
has already been working with him ready io thke over. Our sinccre tlwiks go to Chris for the work
and dedicaiion hc ha5 Put Into that role.
W¢ enter our 45 season with increased confidence. We are also continuing our r¢cn]itm¢nt driv¢
to attract new members-. as we siill have the challeng¢ of rtbuilding OUT membership back io normal
le￿1$. However, l am optimistic aiK)ut the choir's futur
Fundraising
In total £40 {2021: £nil) was raised. Levels bav¢ b¢¢n affe¢t¢d by the pand¢mic in r￿ent years.

Th¢ Choir received a total of £3,941 (2021: £1.471). This includes ¢oncert-specific donations. All
donations are w¢lcom¢d Is a significani source of assistance towards the njnning of the Choir.
