Chairmans Report AGM Wednesday 4[th] October 2023.
This has been a challenging year for Rossendale Players. The new Executive Committee was formed in November 2022.
The group have worked together to enable the Players to move forward under difficult circumstances for which I am most grateful.
Two plays were chosen and cast at short notice to end the season.
I wish to thank the people who came forward to enable this to happen everyone worked hard and demonstrated team work to action this we even had full houses
The decision was made by the PS&CC to present a year of comedy 2023/24.
The season has now been cast but not without problems.
The first play was a huge success with very positive comments and almost full houses.
Unfortunately, the November play has had to be cancelled this will be discussed in the Executive Committee Meeting which follows the AGM.
Members of the Executive Committee have worked hard coming together as a new team, I would like to thank Pam Bromley for taking over as Secretary for a few months at short notice and I am now pleased to welcome Sara Smallman as Secretary.
We have tried without success to recruit a new Chairman; I am willing to stay on for a short time when hopefully we can find someone to take on the role.
Kathryn Smith Treasurer has indicated that she would like to step down when a replacement can be found and we still need a bar manager.
Quite a few people have come forward to become members in the last few months Sue Engledow is currently processing these.
Several improvements have been made in the theatre during to last few months, we have installed WIFI, introduced a more robust system for paying by card, a more reliable system has been introduced to regulate the heating system and we now have new chairs in the auditorium.
Thanks to the Publicity Group we are establishing links with other theatre groups for reciprocal advertising and working together promoting each other in the future.
During the year the theatre was hired out to Valley Academy when they found themselves without a home. This proved very successful, we have also agreed to a request by Water Prize Band to hold a concert in June 2024.
I would like to thank Geoffrey Collinge, Brian Carter, and Kathryn Smith for compiling and presenting the Players Accounts.
We have a positive base to move forward into the future with a committed team who work hard. This includes members of the Executive Committee, Members, and many others I would like to take this opportunity to thank each one of you for your help and support.
