## ANNUAL REPORT 2021

The Annual General Meeting was held in March 2022, following the cancellation of the 2021 AGM due to covid restrictions. The accounts were inspected as normal & presented to the committee at the AGM, the minutes of which form the basis of the Association’s Annual Report for 2021.

Due to the lockdown imposed at Christmas 2020, the Community Centre was unable to reopen as usual in January after the Christmas & New Year break. We were fortunate to receive lockdown funding from Durham CC Business Rate Support Grant. Once again the half-term & Easter holiday lunch club for families qualifying for free school meals were replaced by food & activity packs. The chiropodist was able to resume his monthly clinic, with covid precautions, at the end of February, but it was late April before other groups returned, all adhering to restrictions in force at the time.

Funding was obtained to provide food packs & outings for the summer holiday lunch club. Unfortunately some of the arrangements for outings fell through & that portion of the funding was returned. We also received funding from Durham Community Action Community Buildings Support Grant to support the art groups & digital imaging group by providing new materials to help them restart.

The Association was fortunate to receive funding from County Durham Foundation to replace the windows on the front elevation of the Community Centre with upvc double glazed ones & have the heating system flushed through & new thermostatic radiator valves fitted. It is noticeable how much more quickly the building heats up & how much longer it stays warm.

We were approached by Creative Kitchen, who run cookery sessions for children, asking to hire the Community Centre. Unfortunately these did not attract sufficient numbers to be viable. However, funding was obtained to pay them to run a session as part of the Christmas holiday lunch club, where it proved a success

& has been repeated in subsequent holidays. Our regular monthly coffee mornings also resumed in November. It was heartening to see record numbers attend & more people volunteering to help.

Funding was obtained to put on a film show for families in the runup to Christmas. Children turned up in onesies & dressing gowns to watch “The Polar Express” & were also given some commemorative merchandise. The day was enjoyed by all.

As part of our plan to make the Community Centre more welcoming, the committee arranged to have the main hall redecorated during the Christmas holidays, which has attracted much positive comment. There are a couple of new groups hoping to start in the new year & we hope to build on this. Much that is positive has happened & we must continue to work to achieve more.
