## CHAIRS REPORT FOR 2022

WELCOME ALL NEW & OLD TO THE NORTH HULL COMMUNITY CENTRE

Since reopening back in the summer of 2020 after the covid pandemic we have unfortunately lost some of our groups some permanently & some who are still a little weary of coming back into a closed area in close proximity to others. With advertising on Facebook we gained Hull Judo club which since opening as gone from strength to strength, we have also got the Empire dance school for all ages, Irish dance which as been with use for a considerable number of years has now changed hands but has not diminished in the quality which Tara strived towards M.S. was a little slow in returning but as we can all appreciate there are a lot more vulnerable people to take into consideration which their governing body did brilliantly. The Alzheimer’s group where recently told that their funding was to stop which would have meant their contract would have ended & this would have been a great loss to their group, after extensive campaigning by the group & members of the community centre they have gained an extension until January 2023.

This group requires a new contract in January 2023 because not only the people with Alzheimer’s deserve this but also the family members who look after them this small group is good for all concerned

Unfortunately we have had to put the cost of hiring the room out no one as objected to this as most people appreciate the difficult situation we are all in at the present time The summer period we had quite a few birthday parties for children born during the covid period & had not been able to have a party.

The council have been very helpful in doing all repairs that we have asked for

The Vulcan boxing club continues to use the centre approximately every three months & there is an event tonight. Ticket can be obtained at the door

We (joy) as restarted a well being class with singing & socialising so if anyone knows of anyone who could benefit from this group please pass it on . We have hosted a group of self defence people learning how to defend themselves against a knife attack etc We have been very lucky that moorveiw have returned to the centre for block bookings as & when they need the main hall. This is for staff training. We now are in a reasonably good position financially this is due to centre staffs hard work & a large influx of 1 years money from the M.S. GROUP
