## **Friend of Bleak Hill Primary School** ## **PTA Annual report & accounts 2023-2024** ## **Introduction from the PTA Chair** This year has been another busy year of fundraising for the Friends of Bleak Hill Primary. We have organised and run some of our regular fundraisers, such as the Easter and Christmas Bingo, Summer Fayre and Tea with Santa. These have been alongside some new events like film nights and a very successful Colour Run. Funds raised have supported subject events for maths and science, along with visiting performers Altru. We have also made good headway with a bigger fundraising target of raising the funds for a MUGA (multi use games area) Events are made possible with the help and support of school staff and a small number of volunteers. The Friends of Bleak Hill are hoping to recruit some new members this year and have attended the reception intake meetings to introduce FOBH to the new parents and ask them to volunteer and for their support. Lisa Moore (chair) ## **Our financial donations to the school** In total the PTA gave £17,133 during the 2023-2024 year. The school invested these funds in: - Reading Vending Machine £1550 - Books £155 - Altru performance £855 - Laptops £9440 - Watches for teaching the time £1250 - Misc- £773 - Scooter rack £265 - Rock Kidz £1100 - Science boffins £1745 OFFICIAL School have asked for a MUGA (multi use games area) so we are working hard to raise the money for this for all of the children to use and potentially an income from outside organisations to hire. ## **Fundraising** As set our above, one of the significant ways the PTA can support the school is by generating additional funds- but we combine our efforts with fun whenever possible, to enrich our children’s experiences at school. This section provides an update on key fundraising initiatives across the last academic year. ## **Movie night** This was the first time we’ve run this event and everyone seemed to enjoy it. To the staff that stayed for the movie night- may we also extend a big thank you as we appreciate that you were staying to help the event run smoothly. For this event we raised £1,749. ## **Christmas shopping night** This is always a great night for everyone involved including the local community. The event raised £648- we had 19 paid stalls ## **Christmas/Easter Bingo** As usual the Christmas bingo was well attended, it is always a sell out event. Everyone seems to have lots of fun- adults and children. Thanks to the teachers who helped at this event and we’d be lost without Mr Morley being the bingo caller so thank you all. We made £1809 at the Christmas event. Roll on Easter! Easter bingo was great, although sad for our yr 6 children and parents as this will be their last one unless they have siblings in the school. Well attended, lots of teachers helping so thank you. We made £1475 at this event. ## **Eco-School uniform** Huge thanks to Mike and Esther for taking this on and organising the sales from their home and at all school events attended within the year. It’s a great way to recycle and reuse and also raise some money for school whilst being kind to the environment and parents pockets. This Financial year we have raised £950 OFFICIAL **Summer Fair** The weather was better this year, although predicted rain it stayed dry throughout. Thanks to the handful of parents who helped set it up, it’s a long day but the smiles on the childrens faces make it all worth while. We utilised the halls and outside and even had an inflatable slide. Lots of great stalls which sold out within the hour- teddy stall prize every time, poo in the loo, BBQ and the highlight was slime the teacher. Thanks to Mr Dagnall and Mr Harrison for being willing participants. We made £3454 including after school sale to sell excess stock. ## **Colour run** This year we did our very first colour run in memory of Harry Cardwell, with half of the donations going towards FOBH and the other half going to Alder Hey Childrens Hopsital. We raised a massive £18,413 on the day so £9206 going to each organisation, the sun was shining, the children had lots of fun and so did all of the teachers running the course and spraying water pistols. Definitely a lovely way to end the school year! ## **Regular fundraising throughout the year, other funds** We can’t conclude the fundraising report without thanking everyone who has supported us with donations this year. Thank you for donations through schoolpay that can be added at any time through the year (did you know we can claim a further 25% on this amount through gift aid? Please see reception to fill out a form) We would like to thank everyone who uses Easy Fundraising- this site has raised £933 for the PTA since we’ve started via everyone’s online shopping. This is an ongoing source of funds throughout the year. This year most of the events were run by 5 or less people, this cannot be sustained long term. Supporting even one event will help us considerably.
