These we proposed as a true account of proceedings by G. Arlett, seconded by P. Smith and passed unanimously. ANNUAL REPORTS OF THE YEAR Chairman's Re ort. Simon Hal¢ Looking back on the last 12 months, l think its been another excellent period for the group. Both our locos had plenty of nmning at Toddington, even if 215 missed the early part of the running season, she was soon back in traffic for June and helped her sister D6948 out with scheduled running at the GWSR. Our first "Highlight, of the year wa5 the visit ofpioneer Class 37 D6700137350 to the railway for the summer diesel gala, which proved a resounding success for the Railway. I personally believe that the attraction of three members of Class certainly helped in bringing in the crowds. and a big thank you to Andy Gilette and the Hea Traction Group for allowing the loco to visil and to our own Kevin Jarvis for helping to arrange it. Diesel galas seem to very popular again at the moment so lets hope for another good showing this year. Quickly following on from our diesel gala was the much anticipated visit of D6948 to the Sevem Valley Railway for their Class 37 gala to celebrate 65 years at the beginning of October. As expected the SVR certainly know how to put on a big event and it drew the crowds in. D6948 was definitely one of the stars of the 4 day event. The group had also arranged an extra running day for D6948 on the following Saturday. which was again well supported. In addition to this we also had our Sales Stand for the four days at the Gala, so a big thanks to committee members. group members and anyone who manned the stall durin8 those days. Whilst a visit to another Railway by one ofthe groups locos is not common and take5 a lot of work behind the Scenes and all the associated stress that every thing WTII go according to plan, it was great to hear so many people commenl on how fantastlc She looked and sounded. so a special mention must go to the four owners of the loco, Dean, Pete, Mark and Kevin for allowing the visit of their pride and joy, so I musl thank you all personally on behalf of the the group as with the current plight of 215's wheelsets and being unable to attend it was an evenl we really needed to have a presence at. Thanks also to the S¢v¢m Valley Railway. Gus Dunster, Matt Robinson and the rest of the SVR gang who made us feel so welcome. Plus also our own GWSR crews who manned the locos over the course of the four days. This year will be 40 years since ihe group was officially fornied, so we have another event day coming up on Friday 21. August, so we need to try and get as many people to come down to Toddington on this day. We ran a similar event 2 years ago and it was great day, so hopefully we can repeat it this year. Our magazine 'The Growler, is still our main point of contact to a lot of members and still looks superb, 50 thanks to Tom for all the time it takes to produce and to our printer Richard who does great work behind the scenes. Our social media accounts are doing well at the moment and a special mention to John 'Tunnel'
Evans for his daily updates on our Facebook page in relation to 'The World Cup of Tractors. which has been exceedingly popular and our Facebook group now has over 3000 members. Finally I want to thank all the rcst of ihe comrnittee for iheir help and assistance over ihe past 12 months in whatever capacity, SO thanks all for giving up your spare time to help our charity run (fairly) smoothly. Interest rates are down and out investments have gone down although they have started to recover, Ineome More rLLnning fees for 248 last year as 215 was out of traffic for a while. Which should be mor for 215 this year as 248 is currently out for repairs. Good income from sales this year that the S.V.R. gala which 248 attended Hon Membershi S¢eretarie$ re ort. Janet Gou Membership numbers: Membership numbers at the end of 2025 stood at 290. This includes 119 people who are eiiher life members, honorary members or regular donors. Nineteen new applications were received. This is 8 fewer than the year before. (It is worth noting that 2024 membership numbers spiked in response to the Anniversary Running Day.) The Membership Secretary has continued to contact members as the renewal date for their membership approaches. At the beginning of 2026 all those who failed to renew in the pre.lOuS 12 months were rcminded again. In total 15 people failed to renew their membership in the year 2025. compared with l O in 2024, 15 in 2023 and 23 in 2022. Membership rates: The cost of production and postage of The Growler magazin¢ continues to rise. Rcpla¢ement membership cards also have to be posted oul. Whilst Costs are undoubtedly rising for our members, they are also increasing in ternis of maintenance and running costs for our locos. Therefore, I would like to propose consideration be given to raising membership fees as of l May 2026 by approximately 140/0 as follows: Adult membership {over 18 years of age) for one year from £22.00 to £25.00 Adult membership (over 18 years of age) tor 5 years from £91.50 to £105 Junior membership (up to l 8 y¢ars ot age) for one year from £1 1.00 to £12.50 Junior membership (up to 18 year5 of age) for 5 years from £45.75 to £52.00 Family (2 Adult5 & 2 Juniors) for one year from £33.00 to £38.00 Family (2 Adulis & 2 Juniors) for S years from £137.25 to £156.00 Life Membershlp A (59 years of age or under) from £330.00 to £375.00 Life Membership B (60 years of age or over) from £220.00 to £250.00 Overseas Supplement for one year from £18.30 10 £20.00 Overseas Supplement for 5 years frorn £73.20 to £84. Hon Publications Officers Re ort Tom Dumelow Apologies for not being at the AGM this weekend, it Clashed with the B WC tour with EPR 37s in Scotland. As sent to the last meeting. the magazine is up to 275 copies being printed, with 264 posted to member5 direct from the publisher. With I I spare, which have been needed to send out by myself to all of the members missed off the excel spreadsheet. In the last magazine l asked for help from members for articles or submissions for futur¢ issues, as yet slill nothing at all received except a memory stick of pictures from Garry Sparks. I have spoken to Simon and have decided that at the next AGM I will be stepping down as editor. this gives the gTOUP a year to find a replacement. I no longer have the time needed to put the magazine together, the lack of contributions from members has lead to most of the magazines I have produced over the lasl year have been padded out with workings and pictures which a few do not like. l always said since joining the committee that I wouldn't have time or skill to ever help out at Toddington with the locos and that doing the magazine I could contribute something. In reality the typing, editing and putting the magazine together is taking up too much time. with recent changes this will result in me working more to cover increased oulgoings. I'd like lo thank Simon and Kev for all the help over the last year with proof reading and help . it is greatly appreciated. Hon Publici Officers Re ort Gareth Arlett Publicity has been steady over the year predominantly via the websile, with monthly updates being aintained. Activity on the site remains at a constant level. Opportunitie5 to get the group visibility increased at events such as Model Railway Exhibitions, events at other railways (not just GWSR events) and other railway-related events have continued to offer slim pickings- however the evenl at the SVR, attended by D6948 demonstrates the revenue-earntng possibility ofattending such events, particularly if one of our locos is in attendance. Despite this lack of interest for certain types of event attendance, there are a number of eventsthappenings in the calendar for 2026 that will see an increase in publieity. Firstly, the attendance at the North West Rail and Transport ColleLlors Fair in Crewe on Sat. 13 June where we will have a stand. Garry P and I will be attending. it would be nice for a couple more volunteers to come fonvard. We also have a number of
newlreturning events at the GWSR where a stand could be utilised and advertised - not least the Gala in July. We have a 'Members Day. organised at the GWSR in August and some colour A5 flyers have been printed. Hopefully we can get these out on all services on the GWSR where one of our locos is in traffic as well as in the railway leaflet holders. Simon has taken a pre-print &ersion of the tlyer on the railtour that O¢Lurred on the 7 March- hopefully this ha5 got people interested already. It will be on the website shortly. Are we also able to market this on the 'Slanted Grille, trains? I will also be looking at designing something for the Accurascale announcement ID collaboration with Garry when we are a bit further along the road. Initial posts will b¢ input on the website to start to generate inteTest - especially if we look at pre-orders further down the line. I have been a little disappointed that nothing specifically GG has appeared in The Comishman's l&st two magazines despite updates having been sent to Jack Boskett. I have followed up with Jack and hopefully a resolution has been reached to see more inclusion in futur¢. Technical OftTi¢er'5 Re ort 37215 Th¢ loco was used regularly during the year with no major issues to report The loco recently had its air filters changed. We have had some spares overhauled during the year including air brake valves and some other air regulating valve5. We are soon to send two compressors. one of each type, away for professional overhaul. We are also making progress sorting out our spares holding and improving storage facilities. 37248 'he loco was used extensively during the year and was very reliable with no in-serviee failures. It had a very successful visit to the SVR gala where it stood out as a star perfonner in its origina] green livery. where most of the visitors were in more modern eolours. Main and auxiliary generators were both cleaned towards the end of the year. The loco has had its fuel and air filters changed in the last 12 months. A coolant leak into the engine sump was identified during the atLnual oil analysis tests. Further invesiigalion showed this to be due to the failure of B I liner seals. Since then the heiid, piston and liner have been removed and ar¢ currently being assessed and cleaned ready for refitting. Other winter work includes repairing a minor fuel leak and investigating a'fals¢' pressure light indication. Election of the Trust¢es for 2026-2028 Everybody standing was asked that their membership was up to date. and they confomied with the Charities Commission rules to stand. P.
