TRUSTEE REPORT FOR YEAR ENDED SEPTEMBER 2024
During this financial year the Church has continued it’s normal activities of Sunday services and maintaining a Reading Room. The Reading Room’s function is to be a presence within the city centre providing an area for study, research and prayer with staff available to answer questions.
The expenditure this year has remained roughly in line with previous years, with increases predominately due to inflation, particularly heating costs.
Income has increased significantly. There are two reasons for this: firstly, the closure of two other local branch churches and the redistribution of their funds. Secondly, the membership took the decision to temporarily close the Reading Room, from the end of the year, and to embark on a programme of renovation and total refurbishment. The aim is to provide better more public space, better cloakroom facilities and a small kitchen area for staff. To this end applications had been made to the Westminster Fund – a Christian Science funding body – for grants towards this work. The first few payments of this have been received. A separate management team made up of members of this church and other branches has been convened to oversee this project and outside designers, consultants and contractors are to be employed. This project will be continuing into the next two financial years.

REPORT OF EXAMINER TO TRUSTEES
This is a small organisation and the number and type of transactions is accordingly low.
I have inspected the accounts and supporting records and found them to be in good order and in agreement.
The accounts are presented in an easily understood format and supporting records maintained efficiently.
I found no discrepancies or anomalies and have no concerns about the accuracy of the accounts.
