Chairmans report ,

The 2023 – 2024 season developing into another strong season for the Steelers. The Premier League team is in a strong position with a 7 - 1 record and are still in with a good chance of winning the league. With 2 games left to play, the team has to win both games in order to become league champions. Division 1 is also in a good position with a 10 – 1 record to date and has a chance of winning the league if the beat Lothian by 12 points or more this weekend. Our Division 3 team has also had a good season and are currently 6 – 2.

For the first time since the Covid pandemic, the club entered Euro Cup this season. The team did extremely well in the Euro Cup qualification round in Germany and finished in 3[rd] place. This result qualifies Steelers to the Finals of Euro Cup 3 to take place on Spain at the end of April.

We also continue to run the Academy most Saturdays.

Our position in the league means that we will have at least 2 teams in the end of season Play Offs which this year will be in Essex. The cost of running the club is going up each year and the cost of Euro Cup and the Play Offs add to this financial burden. In order to raise funds some of the players have taken part in a sponsored Ski Challenge and we have also held 2 very successful Fun Days during the season. We have also developed our tuck shop offering this season and that now raises a significant sum which goes towards offsetting our match day costs. We also have a dedicated grpup of people who do regular street collection in all weather and we do Come and Try days in schools and the community when we are able. I would like to record our thanks to all the people involved in these activities as without them we could not run the club as successfully as we do.

Shirley has decided to stand down as the club Welfare Officer after this AGM. We thank Shirley for taking on this role for us.

As always, I would like to thank all of the committee for their dedication to the Steelers. Without them, the Steelers would not be successful club we are today.

Good luck to all of our teams for the remainder of the season.

Secretary’s Report

Results over the past year have been covered in the Chairmans report, so congratulations to everyone involved, players staff volunteers. Season 2022/23 went well and season 2023/24 is t going well too administratively speaking, we are getting round playwazeok, fixtures got sorted rearranged etc, stats for premier league had a few problems but seem to be ok now so thank you to the guys who do this.

Season 2023/24 we entered three teams into the national league, Premier, Division one and Division three we were just short of players to enter a team into Division three. We entered one team into the woman’s league Division one,

Thank you to Jan, Wendy and Karen and anyone else I’ve missed for running the tuck shop on game days, it makes much needed funds for the club and spectator's players appreciate you’re your effort and commitment you put into it.

Also, a massive thank you to the committee Maurice, Alison,Steve Ryan, Jan for your effortless work behind the scenes which not many people see but if it wasn’t done the club would not be able to exist. Thank you to everyone who makegame days possible for us all to play the sport we love.coaches, table officials, team staff.

Maurice has touched on the fundraising events we have had this year, the players doing the skierg challenge and fun days, they have been good fundraising events so thank you all that took part in these events. If the Steelers are to keep going and keep growing, we need to keep these sorts of events going.

So let’s have a strong finish to the rest of the season and build to the next ….
