CHAIR'S STATEMENT
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025
It is remaTkable how muGh has been achieved (Juring the pasl year but also lo undersland the chall￿geS and

11 is rlght lo celebrate the successes and all the hard work needed to reach this poinl. Including a large capital grant
awarded last December which will cover rnosl of the costs associated with the redevelopment of the old building this
year. We also received a significanl legacy last year, which has helped wilh the day lo day running cosls of the
Centre, and an endowment which can be used lo support level of ieserves for the next few years.
FlnancSally, the Report & Accounts 2024125 presents a far better outcome than we thought possible al this stage last
year, with a surplus of £418.4k {2024.' £50.6kl. This sounds impressive (and it is) bul if it were noi for Ihe legacy,

I h8ve lo say. with a sense of déja-vu, Ihat 2025126 will be a financially challenging year. We remain commltt8d lo

Our 8udgel for the current financial year has £981k expenditure and known income, as 811s1 April 2025, of £646.2k

Flnancial review
The Trustees are ¢ommitied to protecting and managing our financial resources in an effective and transparent
way. In order lo achleve Ihis. we aim lo malntsin a reserve lev81 of at leasl 6 months of our budgeted annual
expenditure. The reserve 18vel is consldered lo be Ihe total of free unrestricted resetves plus any rgstrl¢led
Income covering salarles and other operating cosls th81 has already been recelved.
The Trustees regularly revièw this policy and the lev&S a¢hi8ved lo ensure that St remains approprfal8.
For clarlty the reserves level does not Indude Un￿strICted funds allocated to fixed assets. nor does il include
deslgnated funds sel aside by the Trustees lo meel fulure prq'ects that could not be funded from future in￿rne.
The reseNes are monitored on an ongolng basis lo ensure that they are being managed In accordance with what
Is agreed and this is regularfy reported to the Board of Trustaes.
If il is deÈmed Ihal there will be an on-going failure to rneet the rese￿eS target then a plan will be drawn up to
develop new sources of in￿rne or cut back on related expendilure.
Our budget for the comlng year endlng 31 March 2026 has ex￿ndItUre of £980,967 (2025.. £809,058),
Our free res6Nes at 31 March 2025 were £366,875 12024: £188.2241. In addlllon lo Ihls, £83,648 {2024.'
£100,097) of Ihe reslrlcled fund3 lotal of £312,49612024: £245,267) will contribute lo the budgeted expendllure.
Reslricled funds also include £30,279 (2024.. £54,168) associaled with Ihe expansion prolecl.
The tot81 ¢ontr4bulion towards nexl years budgeted expendlture is £450.523 {2024: £288.3211, which equ8tes lo
5.4 months <2024: 4.2 rnonlhs),
The Trust88s are always awara that Ihe budget sel for each year presents Ils own sel of challenge8, Budgel8d
expenditure has be8n calculated. and throughout Ihe year. Ihe fundraising team work through the (ask of
sourcing th8 n8C8ssary funding to meel bolh anlicipaled and unfor6se8n cosls. Som8 costs, such as service
dèllvery 8mploymenl expenditure, are potentially easier lo fund through bid appllcations lo relevant Trusls &
Foundations 211hough success cannol be guaranteed. It is more difficult to obtain unreslricled grants and funds
which would help covar the costs of general adminislralion and fixed overheads- these are g8n8rally covered by
ncome generatèd from sponsored fundraising evgnls. member donations, café sales, lega¢l8s and any other
foTm of unreslrieled e4sh. Every year il is so important for us lo find and secure new fundlng sources but also
mainlaln and reconnect our links with pasl donors to seek their continued support. Our expanded fundralsing
team has énabled us to do exa¢lly that, developing and (apping into new incom8 sources and bulldlng up the
profile of the Cenlre wilhln the wider community bolh locally and the broadèr geographical area we sèNé.
By cultivating a divers8 range of funding streams Ihal 8re consislenily sustained, we can ensure ttle Cenlre's
long-lemi viability. The annual budget is designèd lo facilitate inveslmenl and maintain an exceptional level of
service to our members, encompassing ￿th the physical and Mrtual offerings.
It is never certain what income we will receiv8 nor what unexpected costs could be around the corrEr. Therefore,
the finance team, finance commillee. and Trustees monilor the financial position on a regular basis, enabling
decisions lo use and safeguard available funds.
Th8 Trustees acknowledge that ihe Neuro Therapy Centre has fallen short of meetlng the minimum r8S8rves
level oullin6d In ils own policy in recenl years. Allaining this minimum reseNes threshold remains a lon9-lerm
oblecllve for the Trustees, as w6 strive lo fortify the Centre's financial stability.
Our reslrlcled funds, standing at £312,496 12024: £245.267). are subject to specific conditions requi￿d by the
donor or by the specific lemis of the appeal which generated the funds. These fund5 are applled as soon as
practicable. as shown in the movement of reslricled income durlng the year.
Our designated funds stsnd 81 £20.837 12024.. £20,000)- With Ihe completion on the new fitness suite and the
secured funding for the redevelopment of the existing Cenlre the TTUSt8es have no immediate plans for the
