.Tr The Gujarati Association, Wolverhampton TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT YEAR ENDED 31st MARCH 2024 STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT The Gujarati Association (Wolverhampton) was formed in 1968, adopting its own constitution and was granted charitable status on the 8th December 1988. Trustees are appointed bythe membership at an Annual General Meeting (A.G.M) and carry out day-to-day running of the association. We have four'holding, trustees who are elected on a five-year term, who shall be named and responsible for the trust property. OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES al To promote the benefit of the residents of Wolverhampton particularly but not exclusively members of the Hindu Gujarati community by the advancement of education, the relief of poverty and sickness the reservation and protection of good health and the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure-time occupation in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the Gujarati community, b) to relieve beneficiaries who are in conditions of need by such means as thought fit including help and assistance for the aged. cl to promote unityand racial harmonywithin the different communities in Wolverhampton byany charitable means that the trustees may from time to time thinkfit. dl to advancethe Hindu religion. el to establish a centre and to maintain and manage such a centre for activities promoted bythe association in furtherance of the above objects. ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE The association has continued to organise a variety of activities engaging all its members (young and old). The Sahkar day centre (elderly club), meet once a week to socialise, keep active, prepare a meal and take part in Various activities. This is proving very popular as the word gets around. The elderly often feel isolated in their homes and so getting out and meeting fellow members is a perfect way to break up their week. Popular activities such as the weeklyyoga and aerobic classes, continue to flourish. Certainlythe yoga class have about fifty people who attend on a weekly basis. This is open to all nationalities, religious beliefs and gender. It is nice to see other communities attending and using our facilities. We are providing a Tiffin service twice a weekfor the elderly within the community which is subsidised by the Association. Our Youth Club continues to run on a weekly basis. Promotion of all the events that take place within the organisation {Religious and general) are advertised/communicated via our Gujarati Association Facebook page, e-mail and newsletters which are available to the community. Our premises continues to be a sought after venue hired by different communities to celebrate their special occasions i.e. weddings, birthday parties and community festivals. Page 5

PLANS FOR FUTURE PERIODS The association is currently in the process of extending the premises to enable storage provision and renovation of our existing prayer room.
