The year 2020/2021 was a difficult year for the troop. The coronavirus pandemic meant that all meetings and activities were cancelled. Subscriptions form a large part of annual income and with no meetings these were unable to be collected. We were fortunate to be able to apply for monies from central government administered via the local authority to help pay for rent and rates on the meeting hut and grounds. There were also sufficient funds to undertake essential maintenance to the hut and grounds and this is reflected in our expenditure. As of April 2021meetings had not resumed.

RE: Third / First Eccles scouts accounts for the period 01/04/2020 – 31/03/2021
I have examined the accounts for the period 01/04/2020 to 31/03/2021 showing a surplus of £19,810.11
Form of Audit – My review took the form of a review of expenditure items including their substantiating paperwork and a validation to the relevant banking transactions to ensure that a clear audit trail was visible.
I also received confirmation that payments being made via electronic banking were approved by a relevant committee member / bank signatory. It was confirmed that all expenditure over £80 was reviewed and approved for payment on a weekly basis.
Income was verified by reference to bank statements.
Record Keeping – the financial record keeping of the group is very good with requests for supporting paperwork to assist with my audit provided promptly.
Opinion – having examined the accounts, I can say that in my opinion they represent a true and fair view of the financial proceedings of the group for the period.
If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely
