Achievements and performance
Throughout the year a programme of maintenance and upgrading of the building ha5 been
arried out to modernise the premises and improve access.
The café and shop continuè to be successful. wilh many new customers arriving. We are
continuing with the Tuesday and Friday opening days.
In addition, on Thursdays lunch times we host the 'lnspire' charity to run our café and shop.
This has been very successful, their sessions are open lo both their clients and the general
public and are well allended. Their clients also help with general gardening. shop, café and
maintenance work around the building, they arè a very welcome boost lo our activities.
A local not for profil sewing group has joined us. They hold weekly sessions open to anyone
to learn how lo sew on Tuesday momings.
We are continuing lo give out grants, we aim to give out 4 grants each month still sel at £200.00
each applicatior), sometimes more if we feel that their need is something the Iruslees want lo
give more support to. The grants are given to local schools and youth groups eg football and
rugby teams, Scouts and Guides and other local groups that have members under 24 years of
age eg the swimming club, brass band and bowling club to encourage young people to join or
to train older members to support young people. Again, in December 2023 we gave each of
the 10 local schools and 10 local groups who support sport or education a one off grant of
£500 each.
The ongoing silualion of the roof répairs continues. The pr8sent roof should lasl for another 8
10 years a local builder is checking the roof every year and carrying out any repairs, so far
he slates that the roof is sound. We may also apply for lottery funding to help with the cost of
repairs to the roof in th8 next financial year, W8 continue to rely on volunteers lo keep the
garden and outdoor space tidy. The work on the new palio was halted (Jue lo problems with
underground pipe this has been resolved and will be completed in 2024.
We have recruited 2 new trustees to brlng us back to 8 Irusle8S.
Flnanclal Revlew
We are working towards having Ihe necessary monies for the roof repair held in the bank
accounl and to cover the cost of any emergency repairs or to cover the ulility bills elc should
we lose our income stream and are unable lo fund the upkeep of the building.
Once we have completed the updates to the building then long term plans will be made
regarding investments.
We are financially viable and hope in 2024 to pul some extra funds into a reserve. We currently
hold £6,649 as an emergency reserve supporting our Gurrenl funds of £16,435.
We raise money through selling donated household ilems and handicraft items through our
shop and online, some more valuable items are sold on market place or Ebay The café, craft
group and other small social events are also profitable. This year we have been very
successful both in fund raising and welcoming local people into our building. The building is
