Activities
The Society is constituted as a Trust, the governing document is a Trust Deed completed on 14 September 1959.
The objects of the Society are the furtherance of the interests of the textile industry by the education of persons engaged or employed therein and the promotion of the discussion and consideration of all questions affecting the industry.
The Society arranges a programme of speakers during the year, either for on line or in person presentation.
The Society has seen as increase in membership during the year in all sectors - corporate, individuals and students.
In November 2021, it was proposed that younger members be encouraged to join the Society from the ranks of students, apprentices and young managers within the Industry. The Phoenix Project was founded, initially with 13 members, which has now grown to 32 members. It is hoped these members will become full members of the Society in the future.
The Society's Annual Dinner will be held in November and increased numbers are expected as a result of the increase in membership.
The Society's Annual Design competition continues to attract a high level of interest from students and designers throughout the United Kingdom and we are grateful for the support that we receive from the following.

select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently;
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE BRADFORD TEXTILE SOCIETY TRUST
We report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 30 June 2025 which are set out on pages 5 to 8.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The Charity's Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The Charity's Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is required.
It is our responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to our attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report
Our examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In the course of our examination, no matter has come to our attention:
- which gives us reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act: and to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act, have not been met;
or
- to which, in our opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
