make to the Governors thereof such annual grant5 for the purpose of enabling them to comply with
Ihelr obli8ations under the Education Acts 1944 to 2002 as the trustee5 thlnk flt.
To provide 5UPPOrt and aid in the educational wellboing in the area including support for the loca
School where the trustees deem it necessary or is required to beneflt the local residents.

We review our aims, objectives and activities each year. This review look5 at what we achieved and the outcomes of our
work In the previou5 12 month5. The review looks at the success of each key activity and the beneflts they have brou8ht
to those 8roups of people we are set up to help. The revlew also helps us to ensure that our aims, oblertives and
activlties remained focused on our stated purposes.
The focus of our work
The focus of the charity's work continues to be the provision of assistance in the field of educatitsn.
Grantmaklng
The charity reviews various organisations and indlviduals who support and deliver the charity's object5.
Potential rÈcipients of gTants paid by the charity are rewewed by a sub-committee of the charity on a case by case basis
depending upon the available re50vrce5 gf the charitv.
The Sub-committee then makes a recommendatlon to the Board of Trustees who make the final decision a5 to whether
grant recommendation is approved or rejected.

Commlssion's general guidance on public benefit, Including the guidance on public benefit and fee char8in8.
Our main actiwties and who we try to help are described below.
All of our charitable acrlvlties focus on our ability to provide a5slstance in the field of educatlon.
School
The trustees are very conscious of the needs of the school to maintaln the standard of education which it has achleved.
During the year ended 31 December 2024 the trustees contlnued to offer assistance wlthln the object5 of the Foundation
with a grant totalling £76,68712023'. £66,000] which benefited ihe school's puplls.

The Statement of Financial Activlties lor the year ended 31 December 2024 shows incomSng resources for the yèar

As a result, the charity's total funds have Increased from £428,129 a5 at 31 December 2023 10 £440.S02 as at 31
December 2024.
The trustees con55deT the current level of funding is adequate to support the contlnuation of the charlty's exlsting
activities.
Investment pollry and obl•ctlves
The charlty maintains an investment portfolio in order to provide funds so that the charity may achieve its objectives.
The trustees, in conjuncrion with its independent investment mana8er, have been responsible lor the charity's
investment portfolio during the year ended 310ecember 2024 as summarised in note lo to the finantial statements.
The trustees report that the value of the charity's investment portrolio increased from £314,484 a5 at 31 December 2023
to £320,708 as at 31 December 2024.
ReseN*s polltv
It is the policy of the trustees to maintain a level of reserves sufficient to ensure the continued operation of the charitV'5
artivities.
FUTURE PiANS
During the coming year the charity has plans to make progre55 in the following areas to provide assistance in the field of
education.
The tru5tee5 will continue to give their support to the School in order that it may continue to serve the
edu¢ational demands of children in the Hampton in Arden area.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governlng do¢ument
The Educational Foundation of George Fentharn, Hampton in Arden is an unincorporated charity Constituted by a
scheme of the Charity Commissioners dated 23 December 1907.
The charity is regulated by a scheme made by the Board of Education on 10 May 1915 a5 varied by a scheme made by
the Minister for Education on 8 February 1954 and schemes of the Commissioners dated 3 March 1982. 20 january 1992
and 23 lune 2004 and under the Charities Acts 1960, 1993 and 2011.
Rècrultment and appolntment of new trustees
Thè following bodies have the right to nominate the lollowin8 number of trustees.
Two trustees shall be nominated by the Borough Councll of Solihull.
One trustee shall be appolnted by the justice5 of the Sollhull Petty DIvi5ion.
Three trustees shall be appointed by the Parish Council of Hampton in Arden.
The trustees also have the r5ght to co.opt up to four addbtlonal trustees by resolution passÈd at an extraordlnary general
meeting of the charlty.
The maxlmum length of term of offlce for trustee5 nominated by the 8orou8h Councll of Sollhull and for trustee5
appointed by the justices of the Solihull Petty Divlsion and the Parish Countil of Hampton in Arden is 4 years.
The maxirnum length of term of office for co-optèd trustees is S years.
All trustees give their time voluntarily and receive no benefits from the charity, Any expenses reclaimed from the charitv
are Set out in the notes to the financial statements.
Or8anlsatlonal structure
The Educalional Foundatlon of George Fentham, Hampton in Arden is organlsed so that it5 Board of Trustees meet
re8ulorly to manage the charity's affairs and formulate policy and the trustee5 are responsible fof all policy and financlal
decision makin8 on behalf of the charity.
In order to do this, a sub-committee of the trustees meets four times per year and receives indepondent investment
advice from the charlty's independent investment mana8er. This sub-comrnittee reports back to the Board of Trustee5.

Hampton in Arden Charity (registèred number 10986181 with both charities being admsnistered by the same set of
trustee5.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND BASIS OF PREPARING THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
General Informatlon

England and Wales.
The address of the charity's registered office Is Fentham Hall, Marsh Lane.

The financial statements of the charlty, which is a public benèfit entity under FRS IQ2, have been prepared In
accordance with the Chailties SORP IFRS 1021 "AccoLtnting and Reporting by Charitles.. Statement of
Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts In accordance with the Financlal
Reporting Standard applicable in the Unlted Kingdom and Republic ol Ireland IFRS 1021 (effective I lanuarv
20191" Financial Reporting Standard 102 "The Financi31 Reportin8 Standard applicable In the UK and Republic of
Ireland and the Charltle5 Act 2011.
The linanclal Statements hive been prepared uslng the historic cost convention, modified to include certain
nnancial instruments at fair yalue, and are presented in sterling which Is the functlonal currency of the chaTIty,
rounded to the nearest £1.
The si8nlficant accountlng pollcies applied in the preparation of these financial statements are set out below.
These policles have been con515tently applied to all years presented unless otherwlse stated.
FINANCIAL REPORTING STANDARD 102- REDUCED DISCLOSURE EXEMPTIONS
Thè charity has taken advantage of the1015owin8 disclosure exemption in preparing these fTnanclal statements as
permltted by FRS 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applbcable In the UK and Republic of Ireland"
the requirement of Section 7 Statement of Cash Flow5.
INCOME
All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activltle5 on¢e the charity ha5 entitlement to the funds, 1¢ is
probable that the income will be received and the amouni can be rneasured reliably.
For donations to be recogni5ed the charlty will have been notified of the amounts and the settlement date. If
there are condltlons attached to the donation and this requires a level of performance before entitlèment can be
obtained then income is deferred until those conditions are fully met or the fulfilment ol those conditions is
withln the control of the charity and it is probable that they will be fulfilled.
The charity receives grants from other third parties in respect of its activities. Grants receivable from other third
parties arè recognised at fair vèlue when rhe charity ha5 entitlement after any performance conditions have been
met, it Is probab5e that the income will be recelved and the amount Can be rneasured rellably. If entitlement 15
not met thon these amrjunts are deferred.
Investment income is earned through holding assets for investment purpose5 such as shares.
It includes
dividends and interest receivable. Where it is not praclicable to identify investment management Costs incurred
within a Scheme with reasonable accuracy, investment income is reported net of these costs. It is included when
the amount can be measured reliably. Interest income is recognised using the effective Interest rate method and
dividend income is feco8ni5èd as the charity's right to retelve paymeni is established.
EXPENOITURE
All expenditure 15 accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all
Costs related to the category. Expenditure is recognised where there is a legal or constructive obli8ation to make
payments to thlrd partie5. It is probable that the settlement will be required and the amount of the obli8ation
can be measured reliablv.

Support costs are those that a551St with the work of the Soclety but do not directly reprèsent charltable activitie5
and include office cost5, governance costs and other administratlve costs.
Grant5 offered subject to conditions which have not been rnet at the year end date are noted as a commitment
but not accrued as expenditure.
TAXATION
The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.
TANGIBLE FIXED ASSETS
Land and buildings are used for charitable purpose5 and have not been recognised In accordance with traditlonal
Pfattice as the properties are considered to be a permanent endowment of the charity.
The Geor8e Fentham Endowed School as stated above remain5 at a nil value in the flnanclal statements for
charitable purp05e5 in accordance wlth tradltlonal practice as the property wa5 considered to be a permanent
endowment of the charlty at that time.
The trustees have obtained a valuatien 'on a contractor's basis" as at 31 December 2014 with the help of thelr
professional adviser, N C Russell MRICS of Nick Russell Associates. Thi5 valued the Geor8e Fentham Endowed
School Hall property at £4,500,000. This Is considered only 10 act as an 'aide-memoirÈ to the flnancial
statements and not a5 a monetary valuatlon.
CASH ANO CASH EQUIVALENTS
Cash and cash equivalents Include cash iri hand and dep051ts hèld at ¢all wlth banks and other third parties.
INVESTMENTS
Invéstments are recognlsed initially at fair value which 15 normally the transaction price excludlng transaction
cost5. Sub5eguently, they are measured at fair value with chan8e5 recogni5ed in "net gainslllossesl on
investments" in the Statement of Financial AcEivities if the investments are publicly traded or their fair value can
otherwise be rneasured reliablv.
FUNO ACCOUNTING
General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of
the general objettives ol the charity and which have not been designated for other purposes.
Oesi8nated funds cornprlse unrestricted funds that have been Set aside by thè trustees for partlcular purposes.
The aim and use of each de518nated fund Is set out in the notes to the financlal 5tatÈm2nts.
FINANaAL INSTrUMENTS
The charity has elected to apply the provisions of Seciion 11 Basic Financial Instrument5" and Settion 12 "Other
Financial Instruments Issue5 of FR5 102 to all of its financial statements.
Financial instruments are recognised in the ch3rity'S balance sheet when the charity becomes party to the
contractual provisions of the instrument.
Financial assets and liabilitie5 are offset, with the net afflounts presented in the financial statements, when the
15 a legally enforceable right to set off the recognised amounts and there 15 an intention to settle on a net basis or
to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneouslv.

measured at transaction price including transaction costs and are subsequently carried at amDrtised c05t Using

Other financlal assets
Other financial assets are Initially ffleasured at fair value which is norm311y the transadion price. Such assets are
subsequently carried at lair value and the change5 in fair value are recognised in the Income and expenditure
account, except that investments in equity instruments that are not publicly traded and whose fair values cannot
be measured reliably are measured at cost less Impalrment.
Trade debtor5,1oans and oiher recèivables that have fixèd or determinable payments that are not quoted in an
actlve market are Classified as 'loan5 and recelvables"
Loans and receivable5 are measured at amortised c¢st
using the effective inierest method les5 any impairrnent.
Interest is recognised by applyin8 the effectlve interest rate, except lor 5hort-term receivables when ihe
rècognition of interest would be imrnaierial. The effective interest method 15 a method of calculating the
amortised cost of a debt instrument and of allocatln8 thè interest income over the relevant perlod. The effective
interest rate is the rate that exactly discounts estimated future cash receipts through the expected life ol the
debt instrument to the net carrying amount on inltlal recognltlon.
Impalrment of Ilnanclal assets
Financial assets. other than those held at falr value through incorne and expenditure, are assessed for indicators
of impairment at each reporting end date.
Financial a55ets are impaired where there is objectlve evldence that, as a result of one or more event5 that
occurred after the Initlal recognitSon of the financial asset, thè estimated future cash flow5 have been affected.
If an asset 15 impaired, the impairment Ios5 15 the difference between the carrying amount and the present value
of the estimated cash flow5 dlscounted at the asset'5 orlglnal effective Interest rate. The impalrment 1055 IS
recogni5ed in the income and expenditure account.
1f there 15 a decrease in the impairment loss arising from an event occurring after the impairment was recognised,
the impairment is reversed. The reversal Is such that the current carrying amount does not exceed what the
carrying amount would have been had the irnpairment not previously been recognised. The impairment reversal
is ￿co&ni$ed in the Income and expenditure account.

Financial asseis are derecognised only when the Contractual rights to the cash flows from the asset expire or are
Settled. or when the charity transfers the financial asset and substantially all of the risks and rewards of
ownership to another entity, or if some significant risks and rewards of ownership are retained but control Df the
asset has trar75ferred to another party that is able to sell the asset in its entirety to an unrelated third partv.

arrangements entered into. An equity instrument is any contract that evidence5 a residual interest In the assets
