Trustees Re rt March 2025 Friends of the Laln Art Galle The legacy of a large collection of Davidson Cloud glass which we reIVed in 2024 has now been sold by our local auctioneer5. Our continuing program of talks, day trips and short breaks meant we were able to give a grant of £20,000 to the Laing Art Gallery toward the very sucSsful exhilytion °Tumer. Art, Industry and Nostalgia. which was staged by the Laing Art Gallery as a resutt of the National Gallery loaning the Laing "The Fighting Temeraire. as part of its 200 birthday celebrations. This grant was agreed in 2023124, and should have appeared in that yeaffs accounts, bui was requested after the end of our finanGial year. Unfortunately, in agreement with the gallery. our contribLrtion in 2024125 and going foTrvard islwill be £10,000. This will be kept under annual revtew and any future legacies in particular could lead to an increase in the donation to the Gallery. Our loyal core of members prowdes us wtih the encouragement to continue to support the gallery we love. We are incredibly grateful to our small team of volunteers, without whom we would not be able to provide our membership with the events mentioned above, along with quarterty magazine providing information about the gallery and the events vthich we hold. In addition to the servi5 the volunteers provide to our membership, they offer a weekly talk on "The Picture of the Month. to the wider public. and a Welcome Desk lo help visitors, both old and new with any questions they mBht have about the gallery.
