1993 incorporating the charth.es previously known as The Charities of Sir Richard Raynes {Rayne5 Trust)
and Thomas Hartopp and Others (Melton Local Bequests) and amended by schemes dètsd 7th
November 2011 and 18th November 2014. The principal address is, Laurn Davies Close, Melton
Mowbray. LE13 IEG.
Under the temis of the goveming document the incumbent of the Church of England Team Parish of
Melton Mowbray 5eNes as an ex-officio Trustee, two Trustees are nominated by the Parochial Church
Council of theTeam Parish of Melton Mowbray and six other Trustees are co-opted in accordance with
the S¢heme. Nominated arbd cts￿pted Trustees servefoT fouryears afterwhith they can be nominated
or co-opted for a further term. Two Trustees (nominated and co-opted) retire each year. New (O-opted
trustees a￿ invited by the existing body of Trustees to accept appointment.

The Area of benefft is the town of Melton Mowbray in the County of Leicestershlre.
The objetts of the Charity are to promote the education of persons under the age of 27 who are in
need of financial assistance, who are resident in the area of benefit. or who attend, or have attended
for a period of at least 2 years a school or college in the area of benefft; the relief of persons resident
in the area of benefit who are in need. hardship or distress: and to further the rellgious and other
charitable works of the Churth of England in the area of benefit.
Applications for assistance are considered by the Trustees at quarterly meetings or more often if there
is a need. Grants are made in accordance with the objects of the Charrtyto indivlduals or organisations
on their behalf such as Schools. clubs and other l(Kal charitable institutions which work towards the
advancement of education in the area of benefit. The Trustees have an arrangement with Leicester
Charity Link of Leicester Chartty Organisation Society Ltd IRegistered Charity No. 10782711 to assist
wlth the assessment of hardship applications and to d￿tribUte funds accordingly. Leicester Charity
Organisation Society Ltd is an old established charity with a vast experien￿ and the resource5 to deal
with hardship application5. The Trustees delegate the day-to4ay administration of the Charty tr) the
Honorary Secretary.

Administration expenses and govemance costs amounted to £4.674. This includes ts¥o payments to
coverthe Honorary Secreta￿5 honordrium: £1,5(KJto cover 6 months owingfrom 2023-24 and £3,Crf)O
to cover the annual sum for 2024-25.
In this financial year. we did not experience any 5i8nificant tlurtuation in the ovefall amount of grants
paÈd out. The Trust made 5everdl grarts dedicated to promoting literacy.. c. £3,OC4J to extend the range
book5 in school libraries and £2.IXKJ to another approach to promoting literacy, supporting a "comic
con" for World Book Day. We provided a £2.(KKI travel grant. $0 that twin sisters could vistt a turtle
santtuary in Malaysia, with their year group. We. also. donated £2.500 to a local debt charity to fund
a hardware upgrade, enforced by the retirement of the Windows 10 operating system.
Income is recelved quarterty from investmerrts held in the CCLA Ethical investment accounts to which
the trust's investwnents were transferred on 2 Juty 2021. Adeposrt accountwith CCLA also hold5 £3,OLKJ
as a buffer for unexpected demand. TheTrustees' policy is to maintain the Endowment Funds to ￿aliZe
the optimum income for distribution as grant.
Cash funds carried fr)rward to 2025-26 were £83,478 plus £3,0￿ in the deposit account.
The Trustees have reviewed the attached financlal statement as at 30th June 2025 and consider this
to be a fair and sound position.

Investments
The investment income consists of COIF income shares. Since changing to the receipts and
payments basis the assets have not been revalued. 63.579 COIF income share5 are held as
permanent endowment to generate income ft>r the general purwse of the foundation. The
investment is therefore held in a restricted fund. while the income geneTrted is transferred to the
unrestricted fund as it is eamed.
A legacy received in 20(KJ. the sale proceeds of land in 2￿1 and a donation in 2014 have been
irwested in 4,783 COIF income shares which are held to generate income for the general purposes
of the Foundation. The investment is. therefore, held in an unrestritted fund Isee note 31.
2. FUND ACCOUNTING
Funds held by the charity are-
Unrestrirted gener31 funds - these are funds which can be used in accordan￿ with the
charitable objerts at the discretion of the trustees.
Designated fvnds- these are unrestricted funds eannarked by the tnjstees for particular
purposes.
Restricted hjnds - these are funds that can only be used for particular. restricted purposes
within the objects of the charrty. Restrictions arise when specrfied by the donor or when
fLEnds are raised for particular. restrirted purkN)ses.
Permanent Endowment funds
these funds represent those assets whid) must
be held ￿rmanentlY by the charity, principal￿ investments. Income arising on the
endowment funds can be used in accordan￿ with the objects of the charity and is included
