Land adjacent to Brooklands Avenut
The irusiees are siill working in conjuHction with ihe Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and ils parn)er agency. Environmental
Land Managemeni Soluiions Lid {ELMS). to explore way5 to d¢v¢lop an ecologicallj sensitive approach ro flood
management on the low¢r rea¢h¢s of Foundaiion land bounded by the Hanna(Te Brook. ELMS are CUTrently liaising with
the ne¢essJry regulatory auihoriiies io ihis end.
Swimmlng P(Ktrl
A local charirable in)st was esiablished io run the Pool and take over the rnanagement from Derbyshire Dales Disrrict
Council. The Foundation is Landlord and the Trusi was assigned ihe lease by the Council from April 2012. The lease
runs until 2079. There were no specific a¢iions for the Foundation tn relaiiort io the swirnming pool in the current year.
The Cornrnunity Sport and L4isure Centre
The Wirksworth Leisure Cenire was opened in January 2000 al a cost of £1.3 million. a part of which was contributed
from th¢ Foundation. The Foundation has made subsequeni contributions towards the improvement and upk¢¢p of the
facility.
The Leisure Centre ¢OTttinues to be of greai benefit and popvlarity for ihe School and the wider community with rhe old
School Gyrn being part of ihe faciliiies offered. The Foundation granied a long lease to DDDC in 1999 until 2079. The
rent from DDDC is subject io review ai 5 yearly intervals (the next review being now due in ?028) in line with the reiail
price index. The Foundation received £17,737 from DDDC as rent in the ¢urrent year. In 2016, DDDC decided to
contract oui their Leisure Services io a managing ageni by Summer ?018. The current management 51ruciure. under
Freedom Leisure Ltd came into effe¢t on Isl August 2018.
Effective iniegraiion of other sports facilities on the same Site is mainiained, and appropriate arrdngemen(s and hire rates
ror the hirin8 of the Pii¢hes. are ensured ihrough annual review pffxess involvirtg Foundation. the School and Freedom
Leisure.
Unadopied section of Canterbury Terrace
The Foundation is the re&Tristered owner of ihe roadway at the souiheasi end of Canierbury Terrnce in Wirksworth. The
Trustees realise that. whilst ihe ownership of this land has no direct beneficial purpose to ihe Charity. th¢y rnusl seek co
maintain the roadway io an acceptable standard. The Trusiees coniinue 10 establish and maintain bFood levels of
communicaiion with the adjoining 6 householders, with DCC and wilh Severn Trent Water ISTW}. as stakeholders and
to addres5 repair5 a5 necessary. Discussions are again in progress to consider fviure arrangements.
Gift Aid
The Foundation is able to recover income lax on donations made under ihe HMRC Gift Aid scheme. This is handl¢d by
rhe Gell Friends who have identified £772 as recoverable agains1 the current }'eafs donations.
young Future5 Fund
The Young Fulures Fund was laun¢hed in (ki 2022. in memory of a forn)er Student * the School. li raises money io
fund the additional wellbeing needs of siudenis sufTering from m¢ntsl ill health. These additional acriviiies are managed
through Ihe School. AGSF holds the Young Futures Fund and a report on activity. and progress is brought to each
Irusiees meeting. In the year to 31 March 2024 £18.881 was raised and £1 1.352 expended by ihe Young Futures Fund.

Gell Friends. Gell Friends were esiablished in 2013. This is legally a part of the Foundation bui has a separate
manabT¢meni structure with similar objecis I￿.0rking for Friendship and Fund5 to benefit Anthony Gell School). Current
funds amounied 10 £18,812 ai the year-end. of which £16.901 is held on 31 March, within a special accouni in the
Foundaiion's name for the use of Gell Friends in consuliation with irusiees. We have agreed their constiiuiion and
exchanged a docurnent on how we should work 108eiher for ihe benefit of School and Students.
Young Futures Fund. The Young Futures Fund wa5 e51ablished during 2022 in memory of an ex Gell student. li raises
funds io support the menial health and wellbeing of local young people.The trustee5 and th¢ Fund have fomiali5¢d a
working agreement. The iTUSiees can confim) that the moni¢5 raised will be re51ricied 10 the purposes of Ihe Fund which
fall within the Foundation's own Charilable objects.. Funds held ￿ the year ¢nd totalled £23,571.
Risk management
The irusiees have a duty 10 identify. and r¢vi¢w the risks io which the charity is exposed and to ensure appropriate
controls are in plac¢ Lo provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error.
To this end. the Trustees review annually iheir financial regulations covering policies and prnctices io be observed in
order to protect the a55ets of the Foundation and 10 mitigate risks to which li ma}, become exposed.
The Foundation understands that this approach to risk management is ongoing and as su¢h will conlinu¢ to initiate new
measures. as well as review exisiing ones. to reduce exp05ure.
The Foundation ren¢wed their tnsurdnce for Trnst and Trustees Liabiltty, Public Liabiliiy (re.. Property owned) and
