Penrith Pre-School Nursery and Toddler Group
Trustees’ Report 2023
This year has been a year where we have had to make no adaptations like the previous ones to accommodate COVID-19. The Early Years Foundation Stage had some changes, and we had to make adjustments to accommodate this, our annual curriculum has been varied, imaginative and as always and targeted to the current cohort. We have found a high percentage of children this year needing extra support and interventions, and families engaging in this process of working with lots of outside agencies. The staff team have been positive and committed throughout the year as always and flexible when needed to make sure our children’s outcomes are high, and there experiences as enriched as possible during their time with us.
Our well supported Toddler Group Busy Bears this year has been well attended by local families, enjoying the hour and a half long session in nursery and a very high percentage then committing to our 2yrs Little Bears then Big Bears Pre-school nursery. Although this isn’t the aim of our Busy Bears session, it is currently a big feeder for us and worth running. The aim of Busy Bears being to offer a more bespoke practitioner run session, giving parents a chance to socialise, whilst comfortable to let their little ones explore the room, the well thought out activities Louise has on offer and gain confidence to become little learners, with the same regular attendees.
Fundraising has been affected this year, with the knock on of general rise in cost of living, we have been finding smaller funding streams, having to ask for smaller donations as many of the families who attend are feeling the pinch. It has been lovely to be involved in the judging of one of these events.
We had a very successful visit from Ofsted this year in the Autumn and received a very proud ‘Good’ Rating, The staff have to be credited with this fabulous rating, working tirelessly to continue to offer the families in our local community the inclusive, nurtured learning our wonderful team of practitioners provide and this was very much the focus of the wording in the report, we look forward to a very successful and very busy academic year ahead.
