Risk and Internal Control {Specimen 11
The Group ExecutNe Committee has identsfied the major
risks to which they believe the Group is exposed. these
have been reviewed and systems have been established to
mibgale against them. The main areas of concem that have
been ￿entsfied are".
Damage to the building. propety and equipment. The
Group would request the use of buildings. proFe¢ty and
equipment from neighbouring organisations such as the
church, ￿Mmun￿Y centre and other Scout Groups. Similar
reciprocal arrangements exist these organisations. The
Group has Suffic￿11 buildings and cijntents Insuran￿ in
place to m51igate against pemianenl bss.
Injury to leaders, helpers, supporters and members. The
Group through the capitation fees contributes lo the Scout
AssOciat￿nS national accident insurance policy. Risk
Assessments are undertaken befo￿ all activities.
Reduced income from fijnd raising. The Group is primarily
reliant upon income from subscriptions and fundraising. The
group does hold a reserve to ensure the continuity of
activiks should the￿ be a major reduction in incthne. The
Committee could raise the value of subscriptKJns to
increase the in¢ome lo the group on an ongoing basis,
erther temporarity or pemianenUy.
Reduction or loss of leaders. The group is totally reliant
upon volunteers to run and administer the activities of the
group. If there was a reduction in the number of leaders lo
an unacceptable level in a parb"cular section or the group as
a whole then the￿ would have to be a contraction,
consolidats.on or closure of a section. In the worst case
scenario the complete dosure of the Group.
Redudion or loss of members. The Group provides
acb"vities for all young people aged 6 to 18. If there was a
reduCt￿n in membership in a parbcular seCt￿n or the group

Fiiiancial Review
Brief statement of the charity's policy on
reserves
Res?Nes Polky
The Group's policy on reserves is to hold sufficien
resources to conts.nue tha charitable activitses of the group
should income and fijndraising activities fall short. The
Group Executjve Committee considers that the 9roup
should hold a sum equivalent to 12 month$ running costs,
circa £150CM).
The Group held reserves of approximatety £25000 against
this al year end. This is above the level required fo
operatsng expenses. However this can be expL2ined by
delays in expensive woths for the Scoui Hut grounds and
rapidty exscalating ub.lty costs.
