It's been another 8reat year for Rotherham. Having stepped Into the role of Chair I have been
amazed at the support of ourvolunteers to ensure that safe and fun Scout6ng Is dellvered to as
many youn8 people a5 possible.
Thi5 is my final year as a member of Rotherham Scouts. When I lolned the DSstrlct. we were
mld pandemlc, di5lolnted In our communications. with a deficit budget to manage. Due to the
hard work between all of us, we now move doser to a balanced budget whlle worklng hard to
keep the levff down. We'veseen scoutln8 grow and grow each year as more youn8 people see
the benefits of your hard work and amazlng efforts.
I wlll miss the district but as we move to the new transfomation roles and I leave you wlth the
new trustee boardfft you are In good hands.

continued growth of the Squirrels section, a spedal mention15 due to all the Squlrre&
volunteers as they have hlt the ground runnSn8 In provldlng really great scouttng for our
voungest and newest sectlon as well as supportin8 each other in the proces5. This growth
due to condnue Into 2024 as we look fonvard to opening 2 more new squirrels sections.
A5 a Olstrlct we can start gettfng excited forthe Distrlct Camp next year. and I hopethat thls
can be the first slep In working tO8etherto increase connethon and skill sharing between
groups.
l am worklng closely w￿h the Dlstrlct Events Lead to conttnue putting on District-wlde events
golng fonvard, in order to make this an achlevable goal we wlll need Events Team Volunteersl

Thls year has brought slgnlflcant change In our organlzatlon, parttcularly wlth new roletltles
and structures. We are In a good positton to adopt thts change and I thank you all for 8ettlng

and there are currently a ranBe of 8ulde videos on howto navtqate the same rf you want to get
ahead of thegame. There wlll also be addit(onal tralnln8 provlded forthose who would like
extra support.

I cannot actually say a great deal aboLrt the past year 8s I was not, during that tlme,
part of the District.
I can only Say a g￿at thank you to the members who were, at that tlrne leading the
Dlstrlct, for the work they did do and I look foThvard to wort(ing wlth you all for the next
year or so, to build. support and lead you Into the Transfonn8t6on and the changes
this brings with your roles and Trusteeshlp for the Distrlct.
I would Ilke to thank 811 those who have assisted me In brlrKJing me up to Speed as a
there have been a bt of changes in the 16 ye8r8 slnce I was last active In
Rotherharn.
Let us meet the Challenge and move forward together.

The Chair of Trustees
Firstly, I would like to fomally welcome Andy Moore in his retum to Rotherham
District as our Distrlct Lead Volunteer. Under his leadership and guidance. l am sure
that our scouting will prosper and we can see a retum to Rotherham truly being a
functioning District once again.
Thls past year has presented a number of challenges for the Trustees whlch through
their hard work and dedication have been addressed.
In particular I would Ilke to hlghllght the sterfing work undertaken by our Treasurer
David Bool. His workload has been Vast￿ increased by the closure of the group at
Thurcroft and the resutting financial complicatlons. David has spent many hours
ensurfng that all the District's finandal matters are suitsbly in hand and on behalf of
the Dlstrict I tharlk him for hls hard work and dedicatlon.
It would be most remiss if I didn't thank our District Secretary for his admlnistrative
prowess over the year. It is a tlme consuming and often frustrating Job. Ash Cox has
worked with great fortrtuda and diligence. The role of district secretary is
discontinued under the new format, bul Ash will be continuing a8 a Trustee for which
we should all be most grateful,
I would like to thank Llsa Langton for her efforts, In partScular her resculng and
Successfully running the first Rolherham St Georges Activity Day and Promise
renewal. Her timely Inten￿ntIon prevented the district incurring a slgnlficant financial
loss. She 18 Stepping down as a Trustee to focus on events and I'm sure our new
District Lead Volunteer wtll extenslvely employ her talents.
Over the comlng year the Trustees will be evaluating the district assets and lookSng
to b88t utlllse these resourc88 for the benefft of Rotherham scouting as a whole and
promote a collegiate approach lo our endeavours.

recelved £1126.68 from interest on Investments and comp8n6alion from HSBC.
