The Group's governing documents are those of the The Scout Association. They consist of a Royal Charter, which in turn gives authority to the Bye Laws of the Association and The Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association.

This includes the registration, keeping proper<br>accounts and making returns to the Charity Commission as<br>appropriate.<br>The Board consists of 3 independent representatives, Chair,<br>Treasurer and Secretary together with the Group Scout<br>Leaders, individual section leaders and parent’s<br>representation and meets every 3 months.<br>Members of the Board complete_'Essential Information for_<br>_Trustees'_training within the first 5 months of joining the<br>committee.<br>This Board exists to support the Group Scout Leader in<br>meeting the responsibilities of the appointments and is<br>responsible for:<br>The maintenance of Group property;<br>The raising of funds and the administration of Group finance;<br>The insurance of persons, property and equipment;<br>Group public occasions;<br>Assisting in the recruitment of leaders and other adult<br>support;<br>Appointing any sub committees that may be required;<br>Appointing Group Administrators and Advisors other than<br>those who are elected.|

||**Risk and Internal Control**<br>The Board has identified the major risks to which they<br>believe the Group is exposed, these have been reviewed<br>and systems have been established to mitigate against<br>them. The main areas of concern that have been identified<br>are:<br>Damage to the building, property and equipment. The Group<br>would request the use of buildings, property and equipment<br>from neighbouring organisations such as the church,<br>community centre and other Scout Groups. Similar<br>reciprocal arrangements exist with these organisations. The<br>Group has sufficient buildings and contents insurance in<br>place to mitigate against permanent loss.<br>Injury to leaders, helpers, supporters and members. The<br>Group through the capitation fees contributes to the Scout<br>Associations national accident insurance policy. Risk<br>Assessments are undertaken before all activities.<br>Reduced income from fund raising. The Group is primarily<br>reliant upon income from subscriptions and fundraising. The<br>group does hold a reserve to ensure the continuity of<br>activities should there be a major reduction in income. The<br>Committee could raise the value of subscriptions to increase<br>the income to the group on an ongoing basis, either<br>temporarily or permanently.<br>Reduction or loss of leaders. The group is totally reliant upon<br>volunteers to run and administer the activities of the group. If<br>there was a reduction in the number of leaders to an<br>unacceptable level in a particular section or the group as a<br>whole then there would have to be a contraction,<br>consolidation or closure of a section. **Scouts** Scouts currently running at 41 members across the 2 troops. Several still on waiting list howevercan not take on anymore more in order to ensure space for cubs.  3 regular adults with each troop, and a couple of new parent helpers starting imminently.  A number of leaders stepped back this year but remain in the backup pool. 3 Chief Scouts Gold awarded, with several scouts who will soon move to explorers actively working on finishing off the requirements. We offered at least one night away every calendar month in 2023.  Activities and events included county Austria expedition, Fells Marathon, Wolds Challenge, Freezercamp near Sheffield, pioneering, campcraft, training hikes, back to basics camp at Givendale, taking part in South cave Spring Clean, helping at Golden Fleece, paintball, halloween night hike and sleepover, trampoline night.  171 highest stage badges awarded over the year. **Cubs** Cubs are currently running at their capacity of 24 children. This is being achieved by sending children to Scouts slightly early. There are 6 Leaders and 3 Young Leaders 3 Chief Scout Silver awards have been achieved. Nights away at Raywell (Group Camp) and The Deep Sleepover. Activities over the past year include the King’s Coronation, DIY badge, Martial Arts, a visit from a local artist, Cycling badge, Alpaca Visit, Emergency Aid, Incident Hike, Money Skills Badge, Trading Post, Airfix Spitfires, Personal Fitness, Vietnamese New Year, a Night Hike and the inaugural Cubs vs Parents rounders match. **Beavers** No report

The<br>Board  considers that the group should hold a sum<br>equivalent to 12 months running costs, circa £6,000 plus the<br>cost of meeting capitation payments.<br>The Group held reserves of approximately £51,000 against<br>this at year end. This is above the level required for<br>operating expenses but this is to enable an ongoing<br>programme of substantial internal and external repairs to the<br>scout den. A review of all equipment is to take place with a<br>view to having to replace/renew large parts of it.|
