COUNTY PRESIDENT REPORT ADRODDIAD LLYWYDD Y SIR
It is a honour to be president of the Pembrokeshire federation and a privilege to serve for two year term . Another successful year for our amazing county witnessing the hard work and effort on rally day was a joy to see .
The varied programme of competitions and standard displayed by clubs throughout the year has been very impressive to watch, especially on Rally Day and to end the day with the gruelling tug o war which is always a crowd puller.

I would like to thank our sponsors for their continued support throughout the year. I must also say a big heartfelt thank you to Owain and Sian in the office who plan and run everything so smoothly.
Also all the club leaders and club officials who work tirelessly providing a energetic activities for our members.
And parents who help and support the clubs getting members to various places on time, not a easy task!
I wish every member and club a successful year ahead. Keep learning new skills and enjoy yourselves.
COUNTY CHAIRMAN REPORT ADRODDIAD CADEIRYDD Y SIR
And just like that, another year of YFC activities and competitions has flown by. It has been a privilege and an honour to be the Chairman of Pembrokeshire YFC and even more special to be the first County Chair from Hermon YFC in their 80th year.
The experience has been one to remember. A huge thank you must go to Owain and Sian in the office for keeping me on track throughout the year and making the job so much easier and enjoyable. I would also like to thank our County President Mr Nick Williams for being great company over the last twelve months and for his dedication to the role.

Of course, where would we be without the fantastic members across the County who have made such an effort to showcase the best of what YFC has to offer. Thank you to you all.
As ever, the year has been full of various competitions and events starting with our County Harvest Service hosted by Clunderwen with donations towards Narberth Food Bank. Next up was the Eisteddfod in Haverfordwest High, it’s been fantastic to see this competition continue to grow every year. Whitland Mart was the next stop for our members competing in the Winter Fair before a good crowd of members and supporters made the long trip up to Ynys Mon for the Wales Eisteddfod.
The Queens ball season was soon upon us and we had a memorable night at the County Showground before many members also travelled to Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion’s Queens ball to complete the triple crown. Without forgetting the Youth Forum’s very successful Winter Ball held at the Pavilion.
The final competition of the year was the English public speaking held in Pembrokeshire College. The standard as always was very high and judges were quick to praise the talent of our members and clubs. January saw clubs preparing tirelessly for the talent feast, with 11 clubs competing between the English and Welsh competition. But before clubs took to the stage in February, it was time for the Welsh Public Speaking day held at Canolfan Hermon. We had a fantastic number of members competing across all four sections and it was excellent to see clubs competing in the Welsh competition for the first time. The Entertainment competition has always been a favourite of mine and I thoroughly enjoyed watching clubs perform on stage and give it their all. This is a competition that develops the confidence of members and brings clubs together. Congratulations also to our newly elected Senior member; Miss Cariann Griffiths and Junior member; Miss Lili James, both are fantastic ambassadors for the movement and I wish you all the best in the rest of your year in the role. Abergwaun and South Pembs represented Pembrokeshire at the Wales Talent Finals in Brecon at the beginning of March and then members from across the county had a successful day at the Wales public speaking day in Builth, winning the English Brainstrust competition.
A big thank you to the Davies family at Trewilym for hosting a fantastic field day, with a great turnout in all competitions. A social was held this year instead of a Field Day dance and a great night was had by all at Narberth rugby club with a new team of officials being announced.
Congratulations to Ifan Phillips being named as Male Ambassador and Teleri Wilson being named as Rally Queen. Our newly elected attendants were Sara Hazzelby, Rebecca John, Amy James and Sioned Phillips, congratulations to you all and enjoy the year!
Once again, the sun was shining on the Showground for our Rally. A jam packed day full of competing and socialising, it was a fantastic day for everyone! A huge thank you to all members, parents, leaders and trainers for all your hard work with preparations!
We held two General Election Hustings alongside FUW and NFU Cymru which gave our members the opportunity to hear the outlines of candidates with regards to agriculture and the wider rural economy.
Congratulations to all the members that travelled to the National Finals and put Pembrokeshire on the map with their incredible success in a range of competitions such as Farm Machinery Skills, Public Speaking and Situations Vacant.
There was no rest for our members though as Sports and Royal Welsh were soon with us and members once again competed to a very high standard.
Well done to everyone that took part in the Royal Welsh and a huge congratulations to all those who picked up silverware during the week! Da iawn chi!
Following the success of the Chairman’s reception on the Thursday of the County Show last year, we once again held the event which gave us the chance to thank all the members, stewards, sponsors and judges for everything over the past year. The weather wasn’t on our side unfortunately but I must thank NFU for hosting us on their stand and giving us a shelter from the rain, we were very grateful! Once again, we as a county crossed the 600 member threshold for a second successive year finishing the year with 646 members. A testament to the hard work of all the clubs and everyone involved, thank you to each and every one of you and long may it continue!
And there we have it, the end of another successful year for Pembrokeshire YFC. Thank you very much to everyone that has made my year as Chairman an unforgettable experience and so enjoyable too. During my time in YFC, I have met fantastic people and gained valuable skills that I continue to use from day to day. I’ve travelled with members from across Wales and competed in so many different competitions.
So many people have played a part in my time in YFC and I honestly couldn’t have done this without all your support – Diolch yn fawr i chi gyd! From the moment I stepped on stage with Hermon for the first time, I knew I was going to enjoy my YFC journey and I haven’t looked back since. Whatever you do as a member, never turn down the opportunities available to you. It’s certainly true when they say ‘The more you put in to YFC, the more you get out’.
Good luck to the new team of officials and enjoy the year! Diolch o waelod calon i bob un ohonoch am y cyfle i fod yn Gadeirydd Sir, i glwb Hermon am ddechrau’r daith a phob lwc i chi gyd am y flwyddyn sydd i ddod ac i’r dyfodol. Gwnewch y mwya’ o bob cyfle – ewch amdani!

COUNTY ORGANISER REPORT ADRODDIAD TREFNYDD Y SIR
The last year seems to have gone by in a flash, and looking back, we managed to pack so much in to those 12 months!
We successfully offered a full programme of activities, competitions, and social events providing a great variety of opportunities and experiences for our members. A big thank you and congratulations to members that represented the County at Wales and NFYFC level with their hard work and preparations being awarded with some outstanding results and silverware.
The County Rally continues to be the pinnacle of the competitions calendar, and this year’s was a real highlight of the 2023-2024 year.

We are grateful to all judges and stewards, who are so willing to give their time to help, and to those that open up their farms and premises to hold our competition days. We are indebted to all our past members and supporters for being so willing to help us out this year. A special thanks to the Davies family at Trewilyn Uchaf for hosting this year’s Field Day, especially with changing dates due to the weather warnings!
Several successful and lucrative events were held during the year, including the new Field Day social evening in Narberth RFC which proved a successful informal evening for senior members, and something that we can develop further next year. Also, the Queen & Male Ambassador Ball and Rally Dance, both returning a healthy surplus for County funds. The finance side of the organisation continues to be in a strong position, with continued generous support, grant funding and successful events. We are extremely grateful to local businesses for their sponsorship, and to community councils and our patrons for their continued financial support, and also to our Treasurer Caroline for her knowledge and expertise.
We continue to work with other organisations, partners and businesses to build and develop the relationships and partnerships we have, and are part of the Fforwm Iaith and help with organising the St David’s Day parade through Haverfordwest.
Our membership figures are to be celebrated, having continues to surpass the 600-member milestone, with 634 members and 12 associates. It’s important to acknowledge that a high proportion of our membership is made up of junior members. Club officials are to be applauded for their hard work with member recruitment and retention, and generally for their commitment and dedication to their roles during the year.
Finally, a huge thank you to our team of County officials Tomos, Terrie and Nicky for all their help, friendship, and support, and to Caroline, Karen, and the rest of the county team for all you do too. It is an honour to be your County Organiser, and I wish the movement the best of luck for another successful year.
Diolch i bawb am bob cymorth, cefnogaeth a chyfeillgarwch, a pob dymuniad da i’r mudiad am flwyddyn lwyddiannus a llewyrchus arall!

WALES YFC REPORT
My year as Chair of YFC Wales is flying, and I'm really enjoying my time, and really looking forward to the rest of the year. I am delighted to see the membership of the organisation continuing to increase and that is through the hard work of the Counties and Clubs across Wales.
The organisation's annual calendar is always full of excitement, and it's great to see all members develop by taking advantage of the opportunities and experiences available. We continue to provide diverse experiences with

the international programme, and it was great to see the largest number of entries ever this year, giving a large number of members the opportunity to travel and see the world. The Agri-Conference held in Gregynog was also a brilliant weekend, with the awards evening crowning the event.
Back at the start of my year, it was great to welcome all members from the whole of Wales up to Anglesey, for the YFC Eisteddfod. There was a feast of keen competition, and the shed was transformed into a successful Eisteddfod venue.
Personally I have enjoyed your company as members during my year. I am extremely grateful for any offer to attend your events and have enjoyed judging in competitions across Wales. This is a new experience for me and I am proud to be able to say that I have developed and grown as a person after benefitting from these opportunities. I have got to know so many members and friends of the organisation during this time. The talent of the members is so evident at every event.
Every year we as an organisation raise money towards charity, and the charity I have chosen to support this year is Prostate Cymru. A charity that does great work for men suffering with prostate cancer here in Wales by offering treatment and support to those suffering and their families. It is a charity very close to my heart, and we are extremely grateful for all contributions towards this important charity.

NFYFC PRESIDENT REPORT ADRODDIAD LLYWYDD FFCCFFI
It was a difficult start to the 2022 membership year with the sad loss of NFYFC’s Patron The Queen. For more than 65 years Her Majesty was committed to supporting Young Farmers’ Clubs. She was a figurehead like no other, whose compassion and steadfastness has been an inspiration to YFC members, including myself, across the generations. We must ensure her legacy lives on – with YFCs demonstrating excellent leadership, generosity of spirit and good citizenship.
Looking back on the year, I can find many examples of YFCs doing just that – through the many fundraising activities, the Mr Nigel Owens MBE competitions to develop rural young people’s skills and the projects that support local communities. You should be proud of all you have achieved.
----- Start of picture text -----
Mr Nigel Owens MBE
----- End of picture text -----
I was honoured to attend your first ever YFC Achiever Awards ceremony in Birmingham in 2023, where I presented the awards. What a showcase for YFC. I was fortunate to meet all the winners and to hear about the amazing work they have been doing. From the impressive rural entrepreneurs to the community fundraisers and farm safety champions – there was much to celebrate. It was a reminder about what individuals can accomplish through YFC. The skills learnt and the connections made can transform lives.
I was heartened to see that clubs recognised the value of their Federation by voting in favour of investing in the national organisation this year. The cost of living is affecting individuals, businesses and charities – support for each other is key.
Industry challenges continue and NFYFC’s Route to Success survey showed how difficult young people think it will be to work in the sector. There’s appetite and enthusiasm for farming but the lack of access to land and finance are barriers. All credit to the YFC AGRI team who have been working with Defra and providing resources for farming members to help them on their journey. Help is out there if you want to get started and exploring all options is advisable.
I know I’m excited about the future. After meeting members and seeing the work you are doing, I believe both farming and YFC are in safe hands. Make sure you treat them well.

CLUB REPORTS ADRODDIADAU'R CLYBIAU Sir BtrtE PthbrOk•hl¢•
BRAWDYHAYSCASTLE
Last year saw us achieve our greatest successes as a club since merging with continued growth in membership and the hard work of everyone.
Club officials were Adam George Chairman, Rhys Jones Vice-Chair and Treasurer, Cerys Jones Secretary, Callum Robertson Assistant Secretary, Becky Wadia Assistant Treasurer and Iwan Roberts Junior Lead/Representative. At our Opening Social, we welcomed returning members and many new members of all ages. At the Pembrokeshire YFC AGM, we collected the Men’s Hockey 7s trophy for our success at Sports Day.
We had some exciting club outings going bowling at Phoenix Bowl, to Good Hook Pumpkin patch and Pointz Castle Ice Cream for a sundae making night. We visited St David’s Lifeboat Station and donated £150 to support their ongoing lifesaving work at sea.
We entered some Eisteddfod competitions for the first time in a few years – homework competitions, Toby in the instrumental solo and Rhys and Cerys were third in the Story and Sound competition. We entered most competitions at Winter Fair, with our scarecrow coming third. Members were honoured to lay a wreath at the Hayscastle Remembrance service.
December was busy with many competitions and events taking place. In the English Public Speaking competitions we entered Junior Reading - Amabel, Emmie and Elinor; Junior Public Speaking - Iwan, Toby and Llinos; and Senior Mace Debating Rhys, Adam, Cerys, Jason and Hannah. Rhys and Cerys also went on to represent Pembrokeshire at the Wales Public Speaking. We organised and attended various Community Christmas events throughout December including Bingo, Christmas Fairs, Carol Services where we donated food to PATCH and Brawdy Church and a Carols Around the Christmas Tree Event raising money for PATH. Members celebrated the end of a busy few months at the Queens Balls and Junior Ball.
In January we began Drama preparation and rehearsals with members taking on the production ‘Do You Mind?’ Our hard work paid off when we reached the final and were placed second - our highest placing in the entertainment competition as a club!
We welcomed St Johns Ambulance to a club night and learnt some First Aid skills and donated £150 for their important work. We also had a visit from Dyfed Powys Police who gave us an informative talk about rural crime and opportunities in the police.
We hosted our Easter bingo and helped at community Easter events.
Then came Rally and we hoped to make it our biggest and most successful so far. We entered every competition we were able to with all members enthusiastic and giving it their all! We had Pre-Rally success with Rhys Jones and Jason winning the ‘Pitch a Farm Safety Product’ and we were third in the ‘On the News’. Many members tried stockjudging for the first time and our Section D pony team were placed second. Our junior tug of war team enjoyed their training and the competition itself and they’re all keen to come back stronger next year! On rally day we entered every competition. Cerys and Callum won the Royal Welsh Cookery competition, and Iwan and Llinos won the Junior Generation Game. We were placed second in the Senior Woodwork, Scrapbook and Group Singing, and our juniors came third in the Sketch – a great achievement as they were all under 13! The hard work and commitment by everyone paid off as we were placed third overall. We are so proud of everyone who helped us achieve this from parents to leaders to our members – this wouldn’t have been possible without the continued hard work and dedication everyone gives. Members were excited to go on and represent Pembrokeshire at the Royal Welsh with their competitions with Rhys and Jason being placed first for their Quadstopper idea in the Pitch a Farm Safety Product competition.
Our Indoor Sports team just missed out on the final but the Knockout Quiz team won the competition for the first time ever! The competition year was rounded off with a successful Sports Day where our Senior Mixed Volleyball team came first and then represented Pembrokeshire at the Wales Sports Day coming third.
We held our club dinner at St David’s Old Farmhouse Brewery where members, parents and friends celebrated our successful year. We again ran The Bhar at Hayscastle Show which was a great success and enjoyed by the whole community. Members took part in community and charitable events over the year – Adam George, Rhys and Cerys Jones took part in the Maxwell Family Fund Coast Path Challenge raising over £3000 for Velindre Cancer Centre. We undertook ground maintenance at Brawdy Church and also in the Hayscastle Woodland Garden and Community Centre. Members also took part in local litter picks.
A huge thank you to our members, club leaders, parents and supporters for their continued dedication over the year – it truly has been one to remember.
CLUNDERWEN
We have had a full year of volunteering, competing and socials.
We started off the year well, being recognised for our fundraising and volenteering efforts and winning the E R Phillips award.
This carried on this year - starting with Clynderwen show last august , the whole club coming together for stewarding and the BBQ. Next was the county harvest festival hosted in Llandissilio where we alongside the rest of county were able to donate a huge hall of food and household essentials to the Narbeth food bank.
Next was cleaning the cenotaph in preparation for the annual remembrance celebration where Mari lay a poppy wreath on behalf of ourselves as a club.
December came quickly with turkey bingo and our annual carol service - both fantastic turn outs and got us right in the mood for the Christmas season.
Summer saw or annual slip and slide fundraiser at Clynderwen fun day and ended with a successful Clynderwen show this year.
The year hasn’t just been a successful once for our fundraising efforts. We’ve had a fab year of competing.
Llinos brought home third in the eisteddfod solo reciting. Winter Fair saw us come first place in the cube competition and Awen in chicken jointing which both went on to represent Pembrokeshire at Wales level. 4th in Christmas tree decorating and 4th in the Christmas card also. Highlight of the day was stockjudging, coming home with Issac - 1st Lamb Carcass, Llinos - 3rd Sheep Stock Judging & Beef Stockjudging and Enfys - 1st Beef stockjudging.
Oscar brought home third place in junior public speaking. Drama was a success with all involved coming 5th overall - with Llinos receiving best actress. This success continued with a second rendition of the drama in Clynderwen hall for the village to enjoy. along came Field day where the boys won the fencing. More success in the stockjudging too where Enfystook third place in the young stockman of the year.
Pre- rally soon came around with Cai and Sioned taking first in the Texel stockjudging and Scott taking third in senior stockman. Our junior members did incredibly well and worked hard with many evening practices - coming 6th in the dancing and cookery and 7th in the junior woodwork!
Rally was next - coming 6th overall. We had some highlights with senior woodwork first, senior generation game 4th, Jess coming first and Anwen coming 4th in the junior floral art both on their very first time competing in the floral art competitions.
We also had some strong tow teams this year - with the junior team getting through rally day and the men’s tow team taking 2nd.
To finish the year of competing we had sport day with members joining pool teams in the women’s and juniors netball and dodgeball. And Success at the rugby 7's saw Daf represent county at Wales level at the Royal Welsh Show.
Overall the year has been a lot of fun - we’ve hosted club nights:
Going to Clerkenhill twice - for the haunted house for a joint night with Llawhaden YFC and again this summer for frisbee golf.
We’ve been to laser tag, the driving range, held arts and crafts nights, fitness nights, tried our hands at cake decorating for our Yule log decorating competition and held a joint club night with South Pembs YFC at Hanger 5.
Thank you to everybody - members, leaders and parents, who have taken their time at weekends and evenings to not only compete but also attend practices, who have lent a helping hand with drama set, rally signs and training tow, flowers, stockjudging and woodwork.

The 2023/2024 YFC year was once again jam packed with club nights and competing for Eglwyswrw. We started off the year with a full club hall on our open evening with new and old members coming out to kick start the year! Soon after came the Winter Fair, another fun day was had by all where club went home 3rd overall!
Christmas was fast approaching which meant Christmas Quiz time! We hosted a quiz at The Salutation Inn in aid of the club and Alzheimers Cymru. Friends of the club came in support and a fun night was had by all! We also donated crackers and sang at the yearly Pensioners Christmas Lunch in Eglwyswrw, a great afternoon within the local community. The new year brought in the Welsh Public Speaking competition, with many members competing for the first time and resulting in the club coming 1st overall.
Club nights included pancake making, visiting Riverlea and Tallis Amos, bingo and talks from members. Soon came the Drama competition where a small cast took to stage and finished 3rd overall.

April saw Field Day which was held close to home, where we had many members competing in the Stockjudging for the first time alongside other competitions. We came 3rd overall and our junior fencing team made their way to compete at Wales level.
April and May are always a busy time of the year for the club as pre-rally and rally preparations are in full swing. KEYSTON
So as tradition, the 2023/24 kicked off with the opening social. We saw many new faces that evening, many of which are still coming to club to this day!
The first lot of competitions soon arrived with the Eisteddfod. Dan and Joe won the stori a sain and later went on to win at the Wales Eisteddfod. We then go onto the winter fair where Becky came first in the lamb stock judging.
We held a cheese and wine celebration evening for our 80th anniversary at the centre where it was so lovely to see past members and associates come along to look through the history of the last 80 years of Keyston YFC. Thank you to our leader Lucy-Ann for all her hard work putting the displays together.
The 2023 county public speaking day was definitely one for the books. We had a fantastic day as club winning overall with the seniors, intermediates and some juniors winning and going onto represent the county at wales and national level. Shoutout to Rhys, Owain, Annie, Terrie who competed at wales and big shoutout to Aled, Jack and Joe who went even further to national coming 3rd in the intermediate Brainstrust , and Joe 3rd in the situations vacant. Massive achievement for all. Just before Christmas we held our well loved Carol singing evening at Camrose country hardware where we raised around £300 to go towards a mass donation at the end of the year for the chosen charities.
After the new year we had the Welsh public speaking. For the first time ever, we entered the Welsh language public speaking competition with an amazing junior team. Owain James came 1st- best chairman with Sara Gwilliam coming 2nd as speaker and Megan Evans 3rd as vote of thanks. We must say congratulations to Owain in particular for not only winning but being the driving force behind the team and being really keen to do well and enjoy it as well, so well done Owain.
Next up we had the entertainment competition which was drama this year. We ended winning the most promising performance shield and coming a respectable 4th place with Joe winning best supporting role. Thanks again to lucyann and Lawrence for piecing it all together. We then put on the performance again in Clarbeston road hall and raised £184 for club.
After the drama we were straight into field day where we came 4th overall.
We were swiftly onto rally preparations with lots of pre rally competitions. A very busy time of year as per usual. We had many members competing in the various competitions with many members competing for the very first time which was lovely to see, and even better to see people enjoying themselves. We came 9th overall as a club with some great individual results. The dancing team won with libby and Annabelle jointly winning best dancer and the sketch team came 1st also and therefore went on to the Royal Welsh where the dancers won, again!! Massive achievement for the guys we couldn’t be prouder of you all, absolute stars. Shout to Will beef for being super sub.
Sports day and rugby 7s soon followed rally day with some success in all the disciplines. Congratulations to the ladies netball team who came 1st!
Once the sports was all done and dusted we held a charity tractor run and were able to add around £500 to the donation pot for prostate Cymru and the uk sepsis trust. It was a glorious day that ran really smoothly.
To finish off the year as usual we had the Camrose vintage working day where members helped the committee set up the field, junior members helped in the refreshment tent and doing odd jobs around the field on the day and of course our senior members running the bar all day. A long and tiring job at another very busy vintage day but it was all worth it in the end. It’s a great event for the YFC to be involved in as it is great for the community spirit and of course benefits so many charitable causes. We can be very proud to be apart of such a cause for good.
Along with all the competitions, charity and community events that we take part in as a club, we have had so much fun this year on outside visits and the wide variety of club nights that we’ve put on, growing together as a club and keeping the yellow army spirit alive. It has been mentioned a few times this year at county events just how much good hwyl and energy Keyston YFC brings and I’m sure this will carry on for years to come. We really do have a laugh!
LLAWHADEN
It feels like only yesterday we were holding our AGM for 2023-24 and electing our officials for the upcoming year with Izzy Hammond being chosen as Chairman and Treasurer, Lili James as Vice-Chairman, Jacob Phillips as Competitions Secretary and Celyn Lewis as Social Secretary, with Richard and Dawn Lewis returning for their second year as our Club Presidents.
Starting in September, it was great to welcome both new and old faces at our opening social and BBQ. This was quickly followed by talks from St Johns Ambulance and Tan yr Castell which taught members important first aid skills as well as how to cook the perfect Welsh cake. From here the nights began to get shorter and we saw a trip to Good Hook to collect pumpkins in time for Halloween, which we celebrated at Clerkenhill with Clunderwen YFC. October also saw the beginning of our competitions, with members taking the opportunity to participate in a variety of competitions for the Eisteddfod with Mared Phillips showing off her incredible singing abilities and going on to represent Pembrokeshire at the Wales Eisteddfod.
Competitions continued in full flow with Winter Fair seeing members heading to Whitland Mart where the club achieved second place overall with some excellent individual performances which saw Hannah Bradbury, Ela Howell and Roxy Willington go on to represent Pembrokeshire in Builth. In the lead up to Christmas we had our annual Christmas meal at the Bush as well as our ever-popular Christmas Fair which saw local businesses from throughout the area showcasing their goods followed by bingo led by Club Leader Alice with the evening raising £592. December was also the month of public speaking – although not the most popular competition it was excellent to see Llawhaden entering both the Junior Reading and Speaking as well as both Junior and Senior Situations Vacant.
Following the Christmas break it was straight back to it as members prepared for the upcoming drama competition alongside table tennis tournaments, arts and crafts. February saw the big performance taking place and although we didn’t make it to the final there were celebrations to be had when Lili James was named Junior Member of the Year. Following on, we marked pancake day, made a trip to Spittal for lambing live and raised £311 at our Drama and Cawl evening before March crept up on us and we had a visit from the dog detectives and a trip to Carmarthen bowling. The start of April meant Easter celebrations with an easter egg hunt at Clerkenhill and another competition in the form of Field Day where members took part in stockjudging, Fferm Factor and auctioneering with Ela Howell being chosen as part of the Pembrokeshire stockjudging team for Wales Field Day.
From here it was straight into rally mode with both pre rally competitions and practices taking up members time in the countdown to the big day, but there was still some time for a trip to Gelli for a game of rounders. Rally day was here before we knew it and saw outstanding performances from members across the board which resulted in us coming 5th overall and winning numerous trophies including the Mostyn and Dill Williams shield for the most points per member – a fantastic achievement for our small club! Following the chaos, it was time to knuckle down with many members completing GCSE and A Level exams however Pembrokeshire Sports Day was just around the corner with members joining Fishguard YFC in a rounders pool team to achieve a second-place finish.
A trip to the beach was organised as well as our own mini-Wimbledon in Clynderwen before everyone took their yearly pilgrimage to the Royal Welsh which saw Lili James, Annie Phillips, Cerys Harts, Poppy Llewellin and Hannah Bradbury representing Pembrokeshire in stock judging and flower arranging.
August meant it was time for our annual car treasure hunt organised by Club Leaders Rhiannon James and Karen Jones where Cotland took the crown. This was closely followed by our Bank Holiday duck race with both events raising over £450 for a picnic bench at Gelli before our AGM saw our new officials take up their roles.
Once again it has been an incredible busy year making the most of all the opportunities YFC offers and we wouldn’t be able to do it without the endless support of our members, club leaders, trainers and parents – thank you!
LLYS-Y-FRAN
Wow, what another busy year. Thanks to all that have supported us throughout the year. The year started out with our AGM where our new officials were elected:
Chairman- Beth Williams Vice Chairman- Rhys James Secretary- Hannah Rees Assistant Secretary- Alys Owens Treasurer- Steven James
In September we held our opening social where we welcomed new and existing members to our club room for an evening of fun games.
It was soon time for the county AGM where a few of our members picked up some awards. Carwyn Griffiths won the Wayne Mathias memorial award, Alys Owens won secretary of the year, Steven James won the Club Accounts Trophy and Llysyfran YFC won the award for the best club records. It was fantastic to see all their hard work over the last year being recognised.
We held a number of different club nights like bowling, laser tag, and a YFC travel night, all whilst preparing for the county eisteddfod. We came 2nd in the homework section and 3rd overall.
November meant it was time for our fireworks night at Llysyfran reservoir. It was another fantastic evening with a record number of spectators attending. This year we purchased a defibrillator to place outside our club room with funds from last year’s event.
Next came the winter fair where we managed to come fourth Overall. We also had some great individual results with Harri Thomas, Jac Llewellin and Hannah Rees winning their stock judging section and going on to represent county at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair.
December came along and it was time for our senior members to get dressed up for the Queens ball. We also held our annual Christmas fair and carol service. We went carol singing around Maenclochog to get into the Christmas spirit. Our members competed in the English public speaking competition where we came 3rd overall. Sion Morgan picked up the award for best chairman in the reading section and along with Elen Rees and Cerys Knight won the overall junior reading section. Gweni Edwards won best speaker in the junior section and Becky John won most promising speaker in the senior section.
The new year brought the Welsh public speaking competition where we came 3rd overall with Gweni Edwards winning best junior speaker and Nia Lewis winning best speaker in the intermediate section. February saw the return of the drama competition. Delme Harries had the difficult task of coming up with something that would work for our younger than usual cast. He pulled it off and we put on a fantastic show and came away with the award for best costumes.
We had a little break from competitions for our annual club dinner. This year we held it at Crug Glas. It was a lovely evening where we were able to celebrate our members achievements throughout the year.
May meant that rally was imminent, and our members were busy with pre-rally competitions as well as competitions on rally day. We came third overall with some fantastic individual placings which included Elen Rees and Ellie Williams winning the dressing up a club leader, the men’s tug of war team winning their section and Llysyfran YFC won the overall floral art trophy.
At the beginning of June we decided to pair up with the DPJ foundation for a charity hoedown. A great night was had by all and proceeds went to the DPJ foundation. Then came the last county competition of the year, the sports day. All members who participated thoroughly enjoyed!!
As a club we are fortunate to have held several fundraising events throughout the year. Members enjoyed when we held a sports day for the community and an “It’s a knockout” in the evening, as well as doing a sponsored walk around Llysyfran Reservoir- carrying Betsi the cow. This has allowed us to to support our chosen charities of the year by presenting them with a cheque. We donated £1000 to the DPJ foundation, £400 to the Wales Air Ambulance, £300 to the Catrin Vaughan Foundation and £100 to Gwastad chapel.
It has been a fantastic year for Llysyfran YFC and we hope to have an equally as enjoyable and successful year next year.
MARTLETWY
Fun & Fundraising for Martletwy YFC 2023-2024
What a year we’ve had! We started our year with a very messy and chaotic new members social evening, and it seems to have set a precedent. This year’s followed suit! Planning something more sensible next year…maybe?! We had a lot of fun, and the new faces obviously enjoyed it as they stuck around! Our membership grew and we looked forward to the year ahead with our new members. We have even managed to bring previous members back to club, which has been fantastic.
We have put a lot of emphasis on stock judging training and experience this year, starting with the Winter Fair, & Field Day and it has paid off. Our newer and younger members are enjoying it and we are looking forward to building strong teams for the future. We had some great results this year.
We have enjoyed performing as a club, whether it has been at the Public Speaking, the Eisteddfod or the production competitions. We entered the Eisteddfod last year for the first time in many years, and came away with some great results and a 6th place overall.
Public Speaking was a learning curve for us again as we entered some competitions we hadn’t entered before, and again our members did us proud with 1st places among the results. The Drama production was one of our highlights, gaining us a 3rd place over all and several awards for our actors and set & costumes.
Our senior rugby boys, surprised us all and won the County rugby competition, and we couldn’t be more proud of them. They enjoyed themselves immensely, some going on to represent County in the RWS, although the Members tent did thwart an excelled performance on the day perhaps!?
The Rally was lot of fun for our club this year. We tried to enter as many competitions as possible so that all of our members could have a go at something they would enjoy. It was a huge success for us, we did really well in pre-rally and on the day came away with 6th overall and 4th in both junior and senior competitions. We enjoyed the celebrations afterwards!
It’s not just about the competitions though, we’ve had so much fun along the way, conker nights, bonfires, beach days, cinema trips, local shows, dances, great talks and social nights, pumpkin calving, meeting up with other clubs, go karting, trips out and about in the local community, games nights, darts and pool evenings, and far too many other things to mention…
We have enjoyed fund raising and working in the Community. We have donated a talking bench to our local primary school, cleaned beaches and helped with the local point 2 point and hunt functions.
This year we donated ‘The Martletwy YFC Cup’ to The Greenhill School, for the most promising Agricultural Student on their GCSE course. We have hosted charity BBQs, held carol concerts, Bingo and raised money with our Annual Tractor Pull.
This year we supported The Air Ambulance and CRY Wales, both charities close to our club. The tractor pull was a great success again, we had people come from all over England and from Ireland to pull.
This year we had a sledge, as well as the races and we even had GRASSMEN come to film. It really was a fab day and night, thank you to everyone who supported us!
It has been such a great year for our club, we hope that we continue to grow both in numbers and experience. We couldn’t do any of this without a great support network and we look forward to continuing our journey next year.
Good luck to all the other clubs in Pembrokeshire YFC next year – we look forward to seeing you all out and about!
SOUTH PEMBS
I would like to begin by saying thank you to South Pembs YFC for giving me the opportunity to be chairman of this successful club this year. I have enjoyed my time as Chairman, and I wish all the best luck to all of the new officials for the next year.
During my year as Chairman of South Pembs YFC, we have been very fortunate to enjoy many successes, which are a testament to the skills and dedication of our members. To me, the greatest of all our achievements, is watching our members mature into well rounded individuals through the year, developing themselves and gaining confidence through the young farmers movement. I am proud to see members who at our new members night were shy and nervous, develop into active members of South Pembs YFC.
In this report, I would like to celebrate the successes of our members in the YFC competitions.
The YFC calender started with the winter fair, where I would like to congratulate Poppy Bryant on winning the Christmas Card Competition, and Sophie Lewis on coming 2nd place in the chicken jointing. I would also like to congratulate Charlotte Lewis on winning both the lamb carcass stock judging and the fat lamb stockjudging.
Next we had numerous successes at the Pembrokeshire Public Speaking day, a firm favourite for myself and many other members in the club. Our Junior Reading team came 10th, and our Junior Speaking team came 6th with Iestyn Lewis placing second as vote of thanks. Our brainstrust team came in 2nd Place, with Charlotte Lewis coming 2nd as Chairman, and our panel winning the best panel award. We were also very privileged to place 3rd in the Senior debating, where I would like to thank Jake Tyler for stepping in last minute and helping us be able to compete. A massive congratulations to Charlotte Lewis as well, for placing 2nd in the intermediate situations vacant.
Next was the drama competition, which as I'm sure many of you are aware, we enjoyed great success in, winning the overall Pembrokeshire drama competition. I would like to thank everyone who dedicated their time and effort into putting on such a good performance, in particular, I would like to thank Helen Hodges immensely for directing our production of Ernie's Incredible Illucinations. Without Helen, our performance would not have gotten us through to the Wales round.
The next competition in our calendar was the Wales Public Speaking day, where I would like to congratulate Charlotte and Gethin for placing first in the brainstrust, and Charlotte for winning best speaker. I would also like to congratulate Charlotte on winning the situations vacant at the Wales level.
Field day was up next, where Charlotte won the stockman of the year competition, and then went on to compete at the Wales Field day where she came 2nd. I would like to wish her luck at the national field day on 3rd of September, the whole club is rooting for you.
I would like to congratulate Toby, Becca, and Beatrice for winning the NFYFC cookery, and to wish them all the best of luck competing in the upcoming Malvern show.
Rally day, the biggest day in the Pembrokeshire young farmer calendar. I would like to congratulate Gethin and Dillon on coming 2nd in the Senior generation game, Charlotte on winning the u18 dairy stockjudging, and Mollie on placing 2nd in the u16 Pony stockjudging.
I would like to congratulate Charlotte and Gethin for coming 3rd in the national brainstrust.
Finally, I would like to reiterate what I said in my opening to this report. Thank you to South Pembs YFC for providing me with the opportunity to be Chairman of your club, I hope that you have all enjoyed the past year, and continue to grow and develop yourselves within the YFC movement. I would like to thank my team of Officials, Lily, Iestyn, Charlotte, Gethin, Poppy, and Winnie for supporting me throughout the year. I would like to thank our Leaders, Sarah, Fern, Helen, Hannah, Kevin, Rachel, and Sam, for their enormous contribution of time and energy to helping run South Pembs YFC. I would also like to thank the advisory committee, for their continued support and guidance. Without the help of the South Pembs YFC community at large, we couldn't be what we are today. Compared to 3 years ago, when I first joined South Pembs YFC and we were a small club struggling for members, we are unrecognisable today. I would like to thank everyone who has had a part in making South Pembs YFC what it is today, and I am so proud to have been a small part in this club's history. Thank you very much, and I wish the best of luck to all of the officials going forwards for next year.
Will Lunt Chairman
TIERS CROSS
Another amazing YFC year has come to an end and within club this year we have been involved in a range of competitions from Eisteddfod, Public Speaking, Field Day and many more. We have also had an exciting year when it comes to club activities!
We started the year off by hitting the driving range at Caddies which is always a hit with the members to start off the year! During the Halloween season we visited Good Hook Pumpkins where we had the opportunity to pick pumpkins ready for our Halloween night the week after. On this night we carved our pumpkins, did some apple bobbing and turned some of our members into mummies.
Between all the club nights some of our member participated in stock judging practices to get ready for winter fair where we had a win in the decorate a Christmas tree competition! Huge congratulations to Phoebe and Georgie for winning their first ever YFC competition and making it to Wales Winter Fair! After Winter Fair, we took our members go karting.
During the holiday season our older members attended queens ball and we hosted a Christmas bingo in the Pelcomb, as well as a club Christmas dinner! Closer to Christmas we went Carol singing to raise money for the Wales Air Ambulance and we ended up raising £280. In January we were invited to attend hangar 5 with Keyston YFC. Some of our members went on an antibiotics course in Fenton Vets, we also attended a tour of Fenton Vets.
In February we hosted our annual club dinner in Wolfscastle which was a very enjoyable night for all. Our members also had some horse riding lessons in Bowlings riding school one evening and we organised a trip to cinnamon grove for some gin tasting to keep the older members and leaders happy!
During the rally period its harder to make time for activities however we took our members to laser tag and they enjoyed it so much we took them paintballing the next week! Rally Day was a great success and an enjoyable day for all! We came 2nd in the promotional sign and our Junior team competed in the TOW!! Recently we went to the maize maize to wrap up the year!
Finally we wanted to say a big thank you to Simon and Alison who are our current club presidents, your continued support to the club has been highly appreciated and we hope we will see your continued support at future club events! I would also like to say another big thank you to our club officials, Vice Chair John Richards, Secretary Molly Bryan, Treasurer Aled Thomas and Minute Secretary Nia Roberts.

Outputs and outcomes for the charity’s beneficiaries
Pembrokeshire YFC have offered a wide and varied programme of activities and calendar of events for its members along with the wider general public. Successful stage competition were held such as the County Eisteddfod and Pantomime, Public Speaking and the County Rally where it was possible to welcome members of the public to spectate and enjoy the offerings of our members through competitions and activities. Many other activities were promoted and displayed through social media channels and various platforms, most of these open and available to members of the movement and to the public at large.
These activities and competitions contributed to the learning, leisure, community and environmental activities and achievements of YFC members, and to the public at large in their knowledge of agriculture, crafts, life skills, rural affairs and country life.
