## **COUNTY PRESIDENT REPORT ADRODDIAD LLYWYDD Y SIR**

As my term as President of Pembrokeshire YFC comes to an end, I wanted to take this opportunity to express my utmost delight and honour in serving as your county president over the past 12 months.

First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to each and every one of you for the incredible achievements we have accomplished together during my tenure. From the details of community projects to memorable fundraising events, socialising and r emarkable competition results, the list of our collective accomplishments is far too vast to enumerate but one highlight as the tremendous success the County Achieved at the NFYFC Summer Competitions weekend

Mr Delme Harries
**----- End of picture text -----**
It has been an absolute privilege to witness the dedication, passion, and hard work that each member of Pembrokeshire YFC has demonstrated throughout the year. Together, we have truly made a positive impact both internally within our county and externally within our wider community.

Our success is a testament to the unwavering commitment and resourcefulness of our members and the army of club leaders and parents who support our members. Your enthusiasm and tireless efforts have not only brought recognition to Pembrokeshire YFC, but also left a lasting impression on the lives of those we have touched. Your outstanding contributions have not gone unnoticed, and I am immensely proud to have led such an exceptional group of individuals. A group that has hit the hights in membership figures with 627 members signed up, along with 17 associates. I set a challenge at last years AGM and you smashed it!

As I step down from my role as President, I entrust the future of Pembrokeshire YFC to the capable hands of our newly elected leadership team. I have faith in their ability to lead with integrity, inspire others, and continue the legacy of achievement that we have collectively built. I must pay tribute to all the County Officials for their commitment to Pembrokeshire YFC, to Carys and Tomos you have been a dream to work with. Caroline has kept the books in order and ensured we have the financial backing to support our program of work. Our sub committee chars have plats a pivotal role in ensuring the County Executive has a framework to manage the Charity. Last and by no means least a huge thank you to Owain and Sian for their service often going over and beyond their role to service the membership.

Lastly, I would like to express my deep gratitude to each and every one of you for the unwavering support and cooperation I have received throughout my term. Your trust and encouragement have been invaluable to me, and I am truly grateful for the friendships forged and memories created during our journey together.

I urge you all to continue pushing boundaries, seizing opportunities, and striving for excellence. With your passion, determination, and unwavering commitment, I am confident that Pembrokeshire YFC will continue to flourish and accomplish even greater milestones in the future.

Once again, congratulations on your remarkable achievements! I leave my position as President with a sense of pride and satisfaction, knowing that the achievements we have celebrated together are nothing short of extraordinary. Keep shining, keep reaching for the stars, and together, let us continue making a difference!

Gan ddymuno llwyddiant a hapusrwydd parhaus i chi i gyd yn eich ymdrechion yn y dyfodol.

## **COUNTY CHAIRMAN REPORT ADRODDIAD CADEIRYDD Y SIR**

Well, where has the year gone. It only feels like yesterday we were at the Pavilion for last years AGM. It has been an incredible honour to be Pembrokeshire YFC Chairman, I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will always be grateful to YFC for giving me so much over the past 19 years. I must thank Owain and Sian in the office for making my job much easier and of course to our County President Mr Delme Harries for being my right hand man throughout the year. It has been a privilege. Above all I must also thank the members for believing in me throughout the year and being so willing to give everything a go.

We have had a jam packed year, our usual pre-covid calendar was back in full swing starting with the Eisteddfod in Crymych, many members stepped on stage for the first time and competed in their very first YFC competition. Next we had our County Harvest Service hosted by

**----- Start of picture text -----**
Mrs Carys Phillips
**----- End of picture text -----**
BrawdyHayscastle with all donations going to St Davids and Solva Food Pod. Winter Fair was soon upon us at Whitland mart and what a great turn out we had with so many members giving stock judging a go for the first time.

Preparations were in full swing for hosting the Wales Eisteddfod and what a day it was, a huge thank you to the Eisteddfod Committee for working so hard to organise and run the day as well as Ysgol Bro Gwaun for being a fantastic venue once again. Pembrokeshire YFC certainly showed everyone how to host.

Amongst all the competitions, the Rural affairs committee organised a visit to Castell Howell, which was well attended. Queens ball was soon upon us and what a night it was starting with the best of course, many members also travelled to Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion’s Queens ball to gain the triple crown. English public speaking was held in Pembrokeshire College and what a turnout we had, with clubs making fantastic effort to enter teams in many of the age groups showcasing the standard that we have here in Pembrokeshire.

The new year saw clubs preparing tirelessly for the Talent feast, with 10 clubs competing between the English and Welsh competition. It was such a proud moment for me sat watching all the talents, seeing members come together as clubs and many members stepping on stage for the first time and seeing their confidence grow. This is what YFC is about, giving you the members incredible opportunities and skills. Also, a cherry on the cake for me was when we managed to keep to time in the Talent finals, there’s a first time for everything!

Congratulations also to our newly elected Senior member; Miss Terrie Savage and Junior member; Miss Charlotte Lewis, both thoroughly deserve the role and are great ambassadors for the movement. The time came to showcase Pembrokeshire YFC’s talents as Hermon and Keyston represented at the Wales Talent Finals as well as an incredibly successful day at the Wales public speaking day in Builth, members raised the bar with their standard and success and we as a county took home the overall English Public Speaking shield. Huge congratulations to everyone involved.

Field day was soon upon us, a big thank you to the Twose family for hosting a fantastic field day, the weather didn’t dampen our spirits with a fantastic turnout in all competitions. That evening saw us name our new team of officials with Tomos Lewis being named as Male Ambassador and Megan Phillips being named as Rally Queen, doing a double for the record books for Hermon YFC. Our newly elected attendants were Cariann Griffiths, Annie Peters, Cerys Jones and Alys Owens… WHAT A TEAM!

In between the competitions we managed to hold a Road Safety evening at Narberth Rugby Club with the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue service delivering a very important message to our members.

Rally was soon upon us and the weather was perfect, it really was a fantastic day! I’ve never seen such a queue for ice cream! Congratulations to every single member who took part and to all the trainers and parents involved in rally preparations. A day to remember.

Many members travelled to the National Finals and put Pembrokeshire on the map with their incredible success. A huge congratulations to everyone for all their hard work and dedication, WHAT AND ACHIEVEMENT!

Sports and Royal Welsh soon crept up with members competing once again to a very high standard, I must congratulate all the stock judgers for all their success throughout the week, with Pembrokeshire YFC taking home the overall stock judging trophy! Da iawn chi!

This year saw a new Chairman’s reception on the Thursday of the County Show which gave us the chance to thank all the members, stewards, sponsors, judges for everything over the past year. Without all of you, none of this would be possible so THANK YOU!

One of the biggest achievements for us as a county this year is crossing the 600 member threshold, finishing the year with over 640 members, the highest we’ve ever had. A huge congratulations to all the clubs and everyone involved, an incredible number of members. Pembrokeshire YFC certainly has a bright future ahead!

On a personal note, I’d like to thank everyone for making my year as chairman an incredible one, I have thoroughly enjoyed visiting your clubs, attending your dinners and seeing you all develop over the past year. Anything is possible with YFC. I honesty wouldn’t be the person I am today without gaining the valuable skills and friendships I have developed because of YFC. Nobody would have thought 19 years ago I’d be writing this report, at the end of my year as County Chairman. YFC really is a family and team work is always at the heart of it, so many people have contributed to my time in YFC and I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

I urge you all as members to give everything a go, you will never regret giving something a go but will definitely regret not doing something when you are too old. The more you put in to YFC, the more you get out.

I wish the new team all the best in their year of office, take it all in because it flies by!

Diolch yn fawr iawn i bob un ohonoch am y cyfle a phob lwc i chi gyd am y flwyddyn sydd i ddod.

Cofiwch i roi cynnig ar bopeth ac ewch amdani!

Diolch!

## **COUNTY ORGANISER REPORT ADRODDIAD TREFNYDD Y SIR**

The last year seems to have gone by in a flash, and looking back, we managed to pack so much in to those 12 months!

We successfully offered a full programme of activities, competitions, and social events providing a great variety of opportunities and experiences for our members. A big thank you and congratulations to members that represented the County at Wales and NFYFC level with their hard work and preparations being awarded with some outstanding results.

The County Rally continues to be the pinnacle of the competitions calendar, and this year’s was a real highlight of the 2022-2023 year. We hosted the Wales YFC Eisteddfod in Pembrokeshire, in addition

to the usual calendar of County competitions, welcoming members from across Wales to the County. Many complimentary comments were received, and the TV coverage came across well!

We are grateful to all judges and stewards, who are so willing to help, and to those that open up their farms and premises to hold our competition days. We are indebted to all our past members and supporters for being so willing to help us out this year.

Several successful and lucrative events were held during the year, including the Queen’s Ball and Rally Dance, both returning a healthy surplus for County funds. The finance side of the organisation continues to be in a strong position, with continued generous support, grant funding and successful events. We are extremely grateful to local businesses, community councils and our patrons for their continued financial support, and also to our Treasurer Caroline for her knowledge and expertise.

We continue to work with other organisations, partners and businesses to build and develop the relationships and partnerships we have. We are part of the Fforwm Iaith and help with the St David’s Day parade, and work with emergency services, particularly the fire service and held the Road Safety Evening recently.

Our membership figures are to be celebrated, having surpassed the 600-member milestone. With 627 members and 17 associates, this year is with the highest for a number of years. It’s important to acknowledge that a high proportion of our membership are junior members. Club officials are to be applauded for their hard work with member recruitment and retention, and generally for their commitment and dedication to their roles during the year.

Finally, a huge thank you to our team of County officials Carys, Tomos and Delme for all their help, friendship, and support, and to Caroline, Karen, and the rest of the county team for all you do too. It is an honour to be your County Organiser, and I wish the movement the best of luck for another successful year.

It is an honour to be your County Organiser, and I wish the movement the best of luck for another successful year.

Diolch i bawb am bob cymorth, cefnogaeth a chyfeillgarwch, a pob dymuniad da i’r mudiad am flwyddyn lwyddiannus a llewyrchus arall!

## **ADRODDIAD CFFI CYMRU**

Wrth i mi ysgrifennu’r cofnod hwn ar gyfer blwyddlyfr 2022/23, mae’n deg dweud fy mod yn falch o aelodau a chlybiau CFfI Cymru. Maent wedi gweithio’n ddiflino ers dechrau blwyddyn y CFfI, gydag aelodaeth ar gynnydd. Mae safon y cystadlu wedi mynd o nerth i nerth, gyda’r aelodau’n ennill sgiliau newydd ac yn gwneud y mwyaf o’r mudiad.

Mae’r flwyddyn ddiwethaf wedi profi cynnydd mewn cyfranogiad ar draws y rhaglen gyfan ar lefel Cymru. Aeth ein Pwyllgor Materion Gwledig â grŵp i Cumbria i brofi arferion ffermio ar hyd ffin yr Alban a byddant hefyd wedi ymweld â Gogledd Iwerddon yn hwyrach eleni. Thema’r Gynhadledd Materion Gwledig eleni oedd ‘Llwybrau Ffermio’, diolch i amrywiaeth gwych o siaradwyr wnaeth ddenu torf dda o aelodau yno. Mewn gwir arddull CFfI, rydym wedi parhau i ddarparu calendr amrywiol gyda rhaglen ryngwladol wedi dychwelyd, a welodd y nifer mwyaf erioed o geisiadau. Eleni, rhoddodd CFfI Cymru gyfle i dros chwe deg pump o aelodau deithio ar draws deg taith wahanol. Mae’n deg dweud eich bod chi wir yn gallu “Teithio’r Byd gyda CFfI Cymru”.

Mae mudiad Ffermwyr Ifanc Cymru yn ymfalchïo ar fod yn fudiad sy’n cael ei arwain gan aelodau, gan gyflwyno rhaglen eang ac amrywiol sy’n rhan annatod o galendr ein cymunedau gwledig a datblygiad ieuenctid gwledig ac mae ein Heisteddfod yn chwarae rhan arwyddocaol yn hyn. Roedd Eisteddfod 2022, a gynhaliwyd gan ffederasiwn Sir Benfro, yn llwyddiant ysgubol, gyda phob un o’r deuddeg sir wedi cystadlu ac un ar ddeg sir yn cynrychioli mewn cystadlaethau llwyfan. Rhaid nodi fod S4C wedi darparu cynhyrchiad ac oriau gwych o sylw ac rydym yn wirioneddol ddiolchgar am eu cefnogaeth barhaus. Mae gan CFfI Cymru hanes o ddathlu Dydd Miwsig Cymru, gyda’i sengl boblogaidd ‘Bydd Wych’, gan Rhys Gwynfor, yn llwyddiant yn 2020, tra hefyd yn codi ymwybyddiaeth o iechyd meddwl drwy godi arian i elusen meddwl.org. Eleni, creodd aelodau CFfI Cymru fideos ‘lip sync’ i ganeuon poblogaidd Cymraeg i nodi deng mlynedd ers Dydd Miwsig Cymru. Roedd yr ymgyrch yn llwyddiant, gyda nifer o glybiau yn cymryd rhan a llawer o gefnogaeth yn cael ei ddangos ar ein cyfryngau cymdeithasol.

Dechreuodd Mared Rand Jones ar ei swydd newydd fel Prif Weithredwr y Mudiad ar 16 Ionawr 2023. Roedd yn anrhydedd penodi Miss Mared Rand Jones yn Brif Weithredwr newydd CFfI Cymru. Mae gan Mared ddigon o brofiad o fewn y mudiad yn barod fel cyn aelod a chyn Trefnydd Sir Ceredigion. Gyda’i sgiliau a’i phrofiad o fod yn y sefydliad a gweithio yn y CAFC, bydd yn dod â dulliau ac egni rhagorol i symud ymlaen, gyda’r tîm staff ifanc a brwdfrydig a swyddogion CFfI Cymru gyda’u gwaith rhagorol, wrth gadw’r aelodau a’r Mudiad i symud ymlaen.

Ym mis Chwefror cyflwynwyd “Clwb y Mis”. Mae'r nodwedd hon yn newydd i CFfI Cymru ar gyfer 2023. Bob mis, mae sylw yn cael ei daflu i glwb gwahanol, gyda phob mis yn cael ei neilltuo i sir wahanol. Mae’n rhoi’r cyfle perffaith i glybiau roi eu hunain ar y map a chael sylw ar ein cyfryngau cymdeithasol a’n cylchlythyr a dathlu eu llwyddiant. Cafwyd penwythnos llwyddiannus yn Pontio, Bangor wrth i aelodau o bob rhan o Gymru gystadlu yn rowndiau terfynol Adloniant CFfI Cymru yn y Gymraeg a’r Saesneg. Mae'r digwyddiad yn rhoi cyfle i aelodau berfformio ar lwyfan proffesiynol gyda chyfleusterau gwych, offer technegol a chefnogaeth timau technoleg broffesiynol.

Eleni, byddaf yn cychwyn ar Her y Cadeirydd sef Tri Chopa Cymru. Bydd hyn yn cynnwys dringo'r tri mynydd uchaf a mwyaf eiconig yng Nghymru: Yr Wyddfa, Cadair Idris ac yn olaf, Pen y Fan. Byddaf i, ynghyd â chriw o aelodau, yn cychwyn yn gynnar ar ddydd Sadwrn y 12fed o Awst, gan ddringo’r tri chopa yn erbyn y cloc i godi rhoddion er budd Ambiwlans Awyr Cymru, Diabetes UK Cymru a CFfI Cymru.

Mae CFfI Cymru yn paratoi ar gyfer Sioe Frenhinol Cymru 2023. Mae’r sioe bob amser yn un o’r prif uchafbwyntiau i lawer o aelodau o bob rhan o Gymru ac ni fydd 2023 yn eithriad. Gyda rhaglen lawn o gystadlaethau yn rhoi cyfleoedd i aelodau ddatblygu sgiliau a chwrdd â ffrindiau o bob rhan o Gymru, mae’r sioe ar fin bod yn nodwedd gyffrous arall i galendr y CFfI. Mae’r penderfyniad wedi’i wneud i beidio â rhedeg y Pentref Ieuenctid a rhoi holl ffocws y sefydliad i’r cyfleoedd y mae’r sioe yn eu cynnig. Trwy gystadleuaeth, Materion Gwledig, cymdeithasol a datblygu partneriaethau mae'r mudiad yn gobeithio ffynnu ac yn gyffrous i groesawu aelodau i'r Sioe Frenhinol. Mae’r ymrwymiad i ddemocratiaeth ar lefel Cymru hefyd wedi cryfhau eleni ac rydym yn ddiolchgar i siroedd am ddarparu cynrychiolwyr sydd wedi ymrwymo i gyfrannu at y broses o wneud penderfyniadau, llywio cyfeiriad datblygu a gwella’r ffederasiwn drwy adborth a chraffu adeiladol. Boed i hyn barhau.

Wrth gloi’r adroddiad hwn, hoffwn ddiolch yn fawr iawn i chi i gyd am eich cyfraniadau i CFfI Cymru dros y deuddeg mis diwethaf; boed hynny fel aelodau, cefnogwyr, noddwyr, rhanddeiliaid, beirniaid, stiwardiaid, staff, swyddogion neu wirfoddolwyr. Rydych chi i gyd yn cael eich gwerthfawrogi gymaint â dyma’r rheswm dros lwyddiant Mudiad Ffermwyr Ifanc Cymru.

## **WALES YFC REPORT**

As I write this entry for the 2022/23 yearbook, it’s fair to say that I am proud of the members and clubs of Wales YFC. They have worked tirelessly since the beginning of the YFC year, with membership on the rise. The standard of competition has gone from strength to strength, with members gaining new skills and making the most of the movement.

The past year has seen increased levels of participation across the whole programme at a Wales level. Our Rural Affairs Committee escorted a group to Cumbria to experience farming practices along the Scottish border and will be ticking Northern Ireland off the wish list later this year. The Rural Affairs Conference took on the theme of ‘Farming Journeys’ and saw a great turn out from the membership thanks to an excellent line up of speakers. In true YFC style, we have continued to provide a varied calendar with the return of our international programme, which saw a record breaking number of applications. Wales YFC provided the opportunity for over sixty five members to travel across ten different trips. It’s fair to say that you really can “Travel the World with Wales YFC”.

The Wales Young Farmers movement prides itself on being a member-led organization, delivering a broad and diverse programme that is integral to the calendar of our rural communities and rural youth development and our Eisteddfod plays a significant part in this. The 2022 Eisteddfod, hosted by the Pembrokeshire federation, was a huge success, with all twelve counties having competed and eleven counties being represented in stage competitions. It cannot go without mention that S4C provided a fantastic amount of coverage and we are truly grateful for their continued support. Wales YFC have a history of celebrating Welsh Language Music Day, with its popular recorded single ‘Bydd Wych’, a Rhys Gwynfor cover, being a success in 2020, whilst also raising awareness of mental health by raising money to the meddwl.org charity. This year, Wales YFC members created lip sync videos to popular Welsh songs to mark the ten year anniversary of Dydd Miwsig Cymru (Welsh Language Music Day). The campaign was a success, with a number of clubs getting involved and much support shown on our social media platforms.

Mared Rand Jones, began her new role as the Chief Executive Officer for the Federation on the 16th of January 2023. It was an honour to appoint Miss Mared Rand Jones as the new Chief Executive of Wales YFC. Mared already has plenty of experience within the organisation as a former member and former County Organiser of Ceredigion. With her skills and experience gained from being in the organisation and working in the RWAS, she will bring excellent means and energy to move forward with the young and enthusiastic staff team and Wales YFC officers with their excellent work, while keeping the members and the Federation progressing forward.

February saw the introduction of “Club of the Month”. This feature is new to Wales YFC for 2023. Each month, the spotlight is shed onto a different club, with each month being dedicated to a different county. It provides the perfect opportunity for clubs to put themselves on the map and to be featured on our social media and newsletter and to be celebrated for all that they do. A successful weekend was held in Pontio, Bangor as members from all over Wales competed at the Wales YFC Entertainment finals in both Welsh and English. The event provides members the opportunity to perform on a professional stage with fantastic facilities, technical equipment and the support of professional tech teams.

This year, I will be embarking on my Chairman’s challenge, the Three Peaks of Wales. This will consist of scaling the three highest and most iconic mountains in Wales: Yr Wyddfa, Cadair Idris and finally, Pen y Fan. I, along with a group of members, will set off bright and early on Saturday the 12th of August, climbing the three peaks against the clock to raise donations in aid of Wales Air Ambulance, Diabetes UK Cymru and Wales YFC.

Wales YFC are preparing for the 2023 Royal Welsh Show. The show is always one of the main highlights for many members from across Wales and 2023 will be no exception. With a jam-packed competitions programme giving opportunities for members to develop skills and meet friends from all over Wales, the show is set to be another exciting feature to the YFC calendar. The decision has been made not to run the Young Peoples Village and put all of the organisation’s focus into the opportunities the show offers. Through competition, Rural Affairs, social and the development of partnerships the organisation hopes to flourish and are excited to welcome members to the Royal Welsh. The commitment to democracy at Wales level has also strengthened this year and we are grateful to counties for providing representatives who are committed to feeding into the decision making process, shaping the direction of development and improving the federation through constructive feedback and scrutiny. Long may this continue.

In closing this report, I would like to thank you all very much for your contributions to Wales YFC over the past twelve months; whether that be as members, supporters, sponsors, stakeholders, judges, stewards, staff, officers or volunteers. You are all so very valued and are the reason for the success of the Young Farmers’ Federation in Wales.

## **NFYFC PRESIDENT REPORT ADRODDIAD LLYWYDD FFCCFFI**

Despite not being able to see you all in person at the Annual General Meeting, it was an honour to be re-elected as President of the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs.

It was encouraging to hear that YFC members used the meeting

to debate how they could actively source local food and promote British produce more in their clubs. The unanimous support members gave to the motion to share positive messages about British food and farming was inspiring.

Mr Nigel Owens MBE
**----- End of picture text -----**
It’s even better to see that NFYFC has now launched its Home Grown campaign and that YFC members are working hard to serve British food at their events and activities. As an organisation with its roots firmly in agriculture, it is only right that YFC champions British farmers and their quality produce.

It’s also important that young farmers’ voices are heard about the many changes in agriculture that are happening. I would urge all members to use the opportunities the organisation provides to help shape our great industry.

YFCs have bounced back from the Covid pandemic with enthusiasm and club committees really rolled up their sleeves to get busy recruiting new members. Your hard work paid off as the year ended with NFYFC having more members than before the pandemic. A massive pat on the back to all those that spent time planning interesting club programmes, promoting their YFC and signing up new members. Your dedication has not only helped your club to thrive but secured the future of the organisation.

YFC competitions are a highlight for nearly all YFC members so being able to host a county show and rally again has been welcomed. It was good to see the high standards achieved at the NFYFC competitions finals held in the summer of 2022, and uplifting that there were so many spectators too.

It was also our 90th anniversary year in 2022, which many of you had fun celebrating at the Anniversary Ball in Northumberland. Our organisation feels in a much stronger place now we’re on the other side of the pandemic and I’m excited to see what we achieve next. It’s only 10 years until our centenary and I’m already looking forward to that!

Nigel Owens MBE NFYFC President 2022-23

## **BRAWDYHAYSCASTLE**

BrawdyHayscastle YFC has gone from strength to strength over the last year with continued success in competitions and our biggest growth in membership since forming as a club!

In our AGM, Mary Morgan was elected as Club President, Adam George elected as Chairman with Jason Davies as his Vice-Chair, and Cerys Jones was re-elected as Secretary. The officials were keen to get stuck in and make it a memorable year for everyone. At our Opening Social Night, we were joined by returning members, and were delighted to see so many prospective members of all ages. We all had a great night getting to know each other and socialising with icebreakers and games. At the Pembrokeshire YFC AGM, we were thrilled to see Jason awarded the Wayne Mathias Award for his ongoing contribution to club and county. September also saw Cerys travel to Malvern for the NFYFC Senior Floral Art competition to represent Pembrokeshire.

In October, we were proud to host the annual Pembrokeshire YFC Harvest Service in Noddfa Newton Chapel. In preparation, members made a harvest loaf and other decorations, then dressed the chapel for the service. We chose to support the St Davids and Solva Food Pod and the DPJ Foundation and were very grateful to receive such generous donations that we later presented to these charities.

Winter Fair was our first competitions day of the year - it was great to see some of our new members getting stuck into their first competitions! Adam and Cerys were honoured to represent BrawdyHayscastle at the Hayscastle Remembrance Day service and laid a wreath on behalf of the club.

December was a busy month for the club with many competitions and events taking place. We were very proud of our members who took part in the English Public Speaking competitions – Emmie, Llinos and Nikki came 9th in the Junior Reading; Callum, Becky and Rhys H came Joint 7th in the Junior Speaking and Joint 5th in the Intermediate Call My Bluff; Adam, Jason, Rhys J and Cerys came 2nd in the Senior Brainstrust; and Rhys J came 2nd in the Senior Situations Vacant! The hard work put in by everyone helped us finish 4th – our best overall placing in a very long time! Well done to Rhys J who then represented Pembrokeshire at Wales and was placed third in Senior Brainstrust. The busy schedule continued as we organised and attended various Community Christmas events throughout the month which were well supported by members and the community including Bingo, Christmas Fairs, Carol Services and a Carols Around the Christmas Tree Event to raise money for the Paul Sartori Foundation.

After a well-deserved Christmas break, members were straight back into action with Talent preparation and rehearsals. It was great to have all members involved from writing the script to helping backstage and performing onstage.

We were proud to receive some honourable mentions by the judge for our performance and we came Joint 6th overall! At the Field Day, members enjoyed trying new competitions and seeing what it was all about. Congratulations to Cerys who was announced as an Attendant for the coming year – it is a testament for all your hard work and dedication over the years!

Preparations were in full swing for this year’s rally to make it our biggest and most successful so far! Our successes began when we were placed first in the ‘Recreate a TV Scene’ at pre-rally for our Gavin and Stacey sketch. Emily came first in the Under 18 Charollais Sheep Stock judging and received a trophy for the Highest Individual Score at Sheep Stock judging. For the first time ever, our juniors entered the tug of war – this was a great experience for them all and they’re all keen to come back stronger next year! On rally day, all of our members worked hard as we entered every competition on the day, including our first ever Dancing! We were delighted to see Griff and Elinor placed first in the Dressing Up competition for their Human Cannonball. All the hard work and commitment by everyone paid off as we were awarded the Dill and Mostyn Trophy for Most Points Per Member! Members were excited to go on and represent Pembrokeshire at the Royal Welsh with their competitions.

The competition year was rounded off with sports day which saw Iwan chosen for the county team in junior basketball, and our Knockout Quiz team made it to the final where they were runners up against Llysyfran. We held our club dinner at St Davids Old Farmhouse Brewery where members, parents and club associates celebrated our successes from the year and supported our club sponsors. Our Bhar returned to Hayscastle Show which was another success and enjoyed by the whole community!

A huge thank you to our members, club leaders and supporters for their continued dedication over the year – it truly has been one to remember!

## **CLUNDERWEN**

Where to begin it’s been busy year for club from the start to finish. From competitions, community work, volunteering, and fundraising events, we have not stopped.

We kicked off our year with the AGM back in August 2022 which saw new roles get taken upon. Charli Jones being Chairman, Mari Roberts vice, Keeley Phillips Secretary and Menna Davies social secretary, Stephen Woodall as treasurer and last but not least Rosie Hughes as our minute secretary. In less than a few days of being given our new roles we all pulled together as a team to provide bacon rolls, teas and coffee at the Clunderwen & district shows tractor run which was a success.

Then in September it was our time to promote our Club and arrange a new members night with lots of different fun actives to attract members of all ages. As the new members night was approaching the club decided as the nation was mourning the sad loss of our late majesty the queen, to postpone our new members night and selected a new date for the following week. This didn’t seem to make a difference as we still saw lots of old and new faces come along and joined in with the fun.

Also, in September Clunderwen YFC was given some sad news that Mrs Anne Phillips Davies a very cherished and active member of Clunderwen YFC had passed away. Some members, leaders, and officials past and present attended Mrs Anne Phillips Davies funeral and it was so lovely to hear how much she loved to talk about her time and the memories she had made during her time in YFC.

To finish off in September we had been asked from the Clunderwen community council to help clean and paint the cenotaph. So, members from club gathered on a Saturday morning to help which was great to see.

Moving on to October the Eisteddfod marked the start of the competing year and was taken on in true Clunderwen spirit. For most of our young members it was their first time ever competing and they weren’t shy to give it a go. After weeks of practicing, we finished off coming 5th overall. Showcasing Clunderwen’s many talents some of the highlights of the day was Loti Makepeace coming 3rd in a very tough group of instrumental soloists, our young members taking 2nd place in the dancing and 2nd place in the mime to music where you could see members smiling and having fun on stage. Scott Robinson, Joe Twose and Oscar Wills made everyone cry with laughter with their humorous duet and managed to come in 2nd place.

After the high of the Eisteddfod and Halloween approaching, the club arranged a trip down to Windsor Farm pumpkin patch which was spooktacular. Members were allowed to pick some pumpkins and were given a talk about how the farm grew them. There were also lots of yummy treats and refreshments available which was perfect for a cold wintery night. Club then went on to host a Halloween party for members and the community of Clunderwen as a fundraiser in the hall. With ghostly games, messy play, and fancy dress there was fun for everyone, and we had a great turn out and support from the community.

With November came Winter Fair and there were results all around for members with Clunderwen coming 4th overall. Clunderwen was represented fantastically on the day whether it being scarecrow making, stock judging or decorating a Christmas wreath. In the under 16 beef stockading Isaac Davies took 1st place and Sioned Thomas took 2nd place in the under 28’s. William Davies placed 3rd with under 28 carcass judging, and moving on to

sheep stock judging we had Sara Murray competing for the 1st time and also coming in 1st place and Elliot Davies placing in 3rd with Cai Lewis who’s first time competing came in at 4th place in the under 16s category. In the under 28s we saw Sioned Thomas taking 1st place and Morgan Davies 2nd place with sheep stock judging. Lamb trimming saw Sioned Thomas come 3rd and Begw Fussell placing in 1st place for the best decorated yule log. Wow what a day! Sara Murray, Sioned Thomas and Isaac Davies then represented County in the Wales Winter Fair held at the Royal Welsh show ground.

December was packed full of Christmas cheer and spirit from club nights such as Christmas craft hosted by our Chairman Charli and Christmas movie night with hot chocolate in the hall. But amongst the fun club nights we had practices for public speaking which remains one of the most daunting but useful competitions in YFC. Clunderwen placed 7th overall with great results in the junior public speaking with Oscar Wills 2nd as the speaker and Elliot Davies 2nd for vote of thanks. December is also fantastic time for socializing with many of our over 18 members getting their suits and dresses on and attending the annual Queens Ball!!

Clunderwen also decided to put on two fundraising events on in December. The first one in the month was a “Festive bingo night” which was a great turn out. Club members pulled together to decorate the hall into a “Santas grotto” and we had lots of line and house prizes to be won that was all donated to us by local businesses. Michelle and Aled Davies parents of two club members kindly donated a turkey for our full house flyer which went to our very own Scott Robinson! It defiantly put us all in the Christmas spirit and we managed to raise a total of £1,006 for our club and our chosen charity for the year which is “the Ronald McDonald fund” as its close to members of our club. Our 2nd fundraiser was our annual Christmas Carol Service in Ladds. With mince pies, mulled wine, and raffle prices to be won again all donated by local business we saw the community come together and we managed to raise £332.07 which was a great way to wrap up 2022.

January and February were spent writing, rehearsing, singing, and dancing our way through our entertainment “Tonight at the Clunderwen Palladium” which was put together by club leaders and members. This is personally one of my favourite competitions as it is a time that as a club we all come together and can have fun along the way. We were able to showcase our many talents as a club and I will never forget dressing up as “Deloris” and seeing all the members standing in front of me as I conduct a bunch of nuns and we sing a medley of sister act!!

March was in full swing with members off to various practices each week ready for Field Day on the 1st of April in Maenhir. All the hard work paid off as we came home with the 1st place shield!! The senior fencing team Dan Phillips, William Davies and Sam Davies bringing back the trophy taking 1st place. Junior fencing team coming in at a close 2nd with Daf Gibby and both Menna Davies and Cadi Murray taking to the fence for the first time! Brothers Isaac and Elliot Davies winning the Fferm factor, Enfys Wheeler 3rd in young stockman and Gracie Wills coming 3rd in the recycled metalwork and being the youngest in the competition. Celebrations were made back in the Angel and the fencing cup was filled in true Clunderwen style.

Gracie, Isaac, Elliot and Enfys all then attended the Wales Field Day to represent county.

It was then time for our 93rd annual club dinner in the Plas Hyfryd which provided a chance for reflection and celebration of what we had achieved in club. Junior member award was given to Oscar wills. Senior member award was given to our Chairman Charli Jones. The Chairman’s award was awarded to Scott Robinson and the leaders award was given to myself which I was delighted to receive.

Pre rally and Rally as ever provides a host of competitions and an opportunity to discover new skills with members competing in every competition. I would like to thank all the members and club leaders for all their hard work up to Rally day when YFC really does takeover! All the hard work really does pay off with us having some great results. Menna Davies, Oscar Wills and Mabli Makepeace came joint 4th in the NFYFC cookery, Anwen Watson took 2nd place in under 16 sheep stock judging, Elliot Davies 1st under 16’s and Isaac Davies 1st in under 18s dairy stock judging, the promotional sign came in 2nd place, Loti Makepeace 3rd in flower arranging, group singing placing 3rd and the ladies tug of war took to the rope taking 3rd place! Members celebrated their success by attending rally dance later that evening which is always a great night.

Sports day was soon upon us after Rally and Clunderwen again managed to get some teams together and compete in the junior dodgeball, ladies’ rounders, and junior basketball. The junior touch rugby and the rugby 7’s teams smashed it out the park up in Crymych rugby club and came home victorious winning overall! Morgan Davies and Dafydd Gibby got selected to go and represent Pembrokeshire in Royal Welsh. We also had some exciting news in June our very own Jess Robinson a past member of Clunderwen YFC who had lots of success during her time in club had reached the final of “Cardiff Singer of the World” Clunderwen YFC and the community were right behind Jess and is very proud!

With all the serious competitions, out the way in the YFC calendar we made sure we could keep having fun on club nights by arranging some trips. We arranged an evening at the beach with lots of games to play, a games night in the hall, a bounce at Hangar 5, some of our members attended Llys Y Fran’s Car treasure hunt and team “Renault seen it” came in 1st place and last of all a trip to Clerkenhill for some frisbee golf.

Finally, I’d like to thank the club leaders, trainers, supporters and most importantly the members of Clunderwen YFC for all their efforts hard work and enthusiasm throughout the past year. I would like to Wish Mari Roberts and the new Officials all the very best of luck for the coming year. That’s me over and out!! Keeley Phillips (Club Secretary).

## **FISHGUARD - ABERGWAUN**

Chairman: Miss Cariann Griffiths Secretary: Miss Isabelle Davies Treasurer: Miss Teleri Wilson President: Mr Rhodri Thomas

Once again, the 2022-2023 YFC year has been a busy one! We are delighted that our membership figure stands so high at the end of this year, and with over 40 junior members, the future of Fishguard is in very safe hands.

We began our year with an opening social evening at Mathry hall and welcomed over 30 members. Everyone enjoyed an evening of various team building games and challenges. We were fortunate to receive the Wales YFC grant, which enabled us to provide milkshakes from Morfa Milk and pizzas from Domino’s for our members.

We moved swiftly on to our first fundraiser of the year where we held a coffee morning in Little Newcastle Hall. We had a successful morning and the raffle prizes from local businesses were a great hit! We were delighted to raise £470 for our chosen charities for the year (Wales Air Ambulance and Fishguard YFC hall project).

The county Eisteddfod was soon upon us, and our members worked tirelessly during the day, and in the weeks leading up to the Eisteddfod. We took home 2 of the main cups during the day including the overall winner’s shield. Following the Eisteddfod, we were soon into preparations for the county winter fair day at Whitland mart. This was another successful day for us as a club as we came away as overall runners up. Some of the top results of the day was that we won the beef, lamb, and carcass overall stock judging. Steffan, Ianto and Rebecca then went on to represent Pembrokeshire at the Winter Fair in Builth Wells. Congratulations to Rebecca who won the Menter Moch Cymru competition - a fantastic achievement!

To break up competition practises throughout the autumn, members enjoyed various activities and events. We had a trip to Hanger 5, a First Aid Awareness Training Night hosted by St John’s, we went pumpkin picking, had a joint Halloween night at Clerkenhill with Llawhaden and South Pembs YFC and a few Harvest Festivals. The seniors also enjoyed a night out at the annual Queen’s ball! We held a very successful Christmas bingo at Mathry Hall raising over £800. We also hosted a Christmas Dog Walk around Newport Beach and donated 43 pairs of trainers, rugby boots and Astros to Goodwick School, Glannau Gwaun School and Fishguard & Goodwick RFC following our ‘Recycle & Reuse Sport Shoes’ appeal. In addition to this, to show our appreciation to the emergency services in our community during the Christmas period, we donated 9 food and drink hampers which we made from donations to club. We also raised £190 from carol singing and attending a Christmas service.

The English public speaking also happened a few weeks before Christmas and we finished in 8th position. Following Christmas, we took part in the Welsh Public Speaking competitions. We were delighted to finish as overall winners. Our juniors won the reading and speaking competition, with Ianto Evans winning best speaker and Aled Lloyd best chairman. The intermediates Brainstrust team came 3rd, and the senior debating team came 1st, with Tomos Evans winning best speaker.

We were soon into practises for the talent competition where we were fortunate to make it through to the final and came 3rd overall. Following this, we hosted a ‘Noson Yng Nghwmni CFfI Abergwaun’ where we re-performed the talent alongside showcased items from the County and Wales Eisteddfod, with cawl provided. We raised £900 from this evening. Before Field Day, our club nights involved trip to Caddies Golf Range, a Lambing live & Farm tour at Dinas Island, taking part in the Eisteddfod Ddwl, trip to RNLI Fishguard Lifeboat Station, a talk from Prostock Vets and painting our own club hall in Jordanston. We also hosted a Pub Quiz Night at the Farmers Arms, Mathry raising £454 and helped out Wolfscastle School with their ‘Ground Force Day’ by painting the school, willow weaving and pallet recycling.

Now, it was time for the county’s annual field day at Maenhir Farm. This was a busy day of stock judging, fencing, auctioneering and farm safety and once again, we had some fantastic results during the day. Isabelle Davies won the auctioneering competition and Teleri Wilson won senior stockman.

Over Easter, we held an Easter Bingo that saw a full hall in Mathry, and we raised £569. As a club we also made ‘Bagiau Codi Calon y Pasg’ where members made chocolate nests and rocky roads to be given to 5 care homes in our community as gift bundles on Good Friday. Fishguard YFC then went on tour to the capital. Our junior members asked for a trip to Judgement Day in Cardiff to watch the rugby and that is what we did. It was a great day out with everyone enjoying. We also had a brilliant joint club night with Hermon YFC at Newport Beach with lovely refreshments from Morfa Milk.

The highlight of the yfc year is the County Rally, and what a day this was for Fishguard! It was an extra special rally this year as our club chairman, Cariann, had been selected as one of the rally attendants this year. After weeks of pre-rally competitions and preparations, the sun was shining on the showground during the rally day. We never imagined the success we had that day and with 9 cups and trophies returning to Fishguard at the end of the day, including the pre-rally competitions trophy, we couldn’t have asked for any more from our members! As a reward for the effort, hard work and commitment that went into the build up to the Rally, we went on a club trip to the Aqua Park at Wild Lakes. 17 of our junior members also had a great time at the County Junior Ball in Maenclochog Hall. During rally preparations, we also squeezed in a community litter pick around Mathry.

Our members thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the yfc sports competitions, Fishguard Show tractor run, a trip to CCF Glanrhyd with Whitland YFC and a Sport Pembrokeshire Superstars event. Our community work didn’t stop there either, we took part in Wolfscastle Festival Week, became Race for Life Volunteers, painted Fishguard Fire Station and Ysgol Llanychllwydog – by now, some of our members are nearly professional painters and decorators!

With the yfc calendar now slowing, it wasn’t a quiet royal welsh week for Fishguard as we represented Pembrokeshire in 8 different competitions. It was a fantastic achievement for our junior tug of war team to get to the Royal Welsh and we enjoyed cheering and supporting them on the Wednesday with the new tops that were made for the occasion. Some other highlights include the boys group singing and Nia Lloyd solo singing coming 2nd, scrapbook coming 2nd and Steffan being a part of the winning Dairy Stock judging team.

Towards the end of the YFC year, we held a summer dog walk around Rosebush Quarry, donated a trophy to Ysgol Bro Gwaun for Certificate Evening to be presented to a pupil who studied GCSE Agriculture, and we hosted a car treasure hunt where 25 cars went out; £204 was raised. We had an incredibly busy day at Fishguard show where members volunteered all day stewarding the crossing gates, operating the main gate, running the yfc stall and the bar. We also hosted the show dance, and we are extremely grateful to our members, leaders, and friends for being so willing to help the ever-growing event! The Bull Inn was once again drank dry.

We have enjoyed a tremendously busy year of yfc activities and enjoyed the hustle and bustle of a full yfc calendar once again. We are extremely grateful to everyone that’s supported us during the year, and we look forward to another year of fun with our members.

Diolch yn fawr i chi gyd am eich cefnogaeth yn ystod blwyddyn llwyddiannus iawn i ni fel clwb.

## **KEYSTON**

Well, what a year Keyston YFC have had! The year kicked off with our Opening Social, which brought lots of new members to join us.

The competitions calendar started with the Eisteddfod, where Joe won the instrumental section, and Lawrence and Dan coming 1st in Stori a sound, with Dan then representing Pembrokeshire at the Wales Eisteddfod gaining 1st position. In the Winter Fair Eleri won the Beef Stocking, and Becky went on to come 3rd at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair in the Sheep Stock Judging.

We had a fantastic day at the Public Speaking competition this year with our Seniors winning overall & best panel, Intermediates came second and our Junior reading team, Hannah, Owain and Rhys winning the competition. Special mention to Owain and Rhys who then went on to represent Pembrokeshire at the Wales and National Finals, winning the overall Junior Reading Competition at NFYFC, with Rhys also coming 2nd as chairman – an amazing achievement with our very own Gaynor Hancock as trainer.

Before Christmas we held a very successful carol singing evening at Camrose Country Hardware and have since donated £500 to the Ronald McDonald house charity from monies raised that evening.

One of the highlights of the year has to be winning the Talent Final at Pembrokeshire, then traveling to Bangor in March, to representing Pembrokeshire at the Wales YFC Entertainment Feast, where we were placed a credible 3rd. Terrie Savage also became Pembrokeshire YFC Senior Member of the Year at the Pembrokeshire Talent Final. We had so much fun in the lead up to the Talent competition this year with a lot of laughter, and it was great to have so many younger members perform on the stage who had never performed before. It brought us closer together as a club, and it was an experience none of us will ever forget. A massive thanks must go to Gaynor, Lucy Ann, Tania, and Kathy our producers as well as H (Richard) for making all the props – we really would be lost without you all. After performing our talent show one final time at Haverfordwest High, we raise £500 for the Shirley Williams Memorial Concert and £500 for the DPJ Foundation. Following on from the high of going to Bangor, it was straight into preparing for the Field Day, where we came 4th overall on the day.

Next, it was preparing for the Pembrokeshire YFC Rally, with lots of pre-rally and rally day competitions to enjoy. We came away with 6th position, with many members taking part for the first time. Our dancers came 1st and gained 3rd position at the Royal Welsh. A massive thank you to our trainers, leaders, and anyone else who helped members prepare for competitions, not just for the rally but throughout the year. I (Annie) was also delighted to have been chosen as a Rally Queen Attendant.

To celebrate 80 years of Keyston YFC, this year we organised a Tractor Run in June, raising £3000 for Cystic Fibrosis Trust. I just want to thank everyone for their support and generosity, despite the rain we had a great day with a turnout of 60 tractors.

Sports day and rugby 7s followed where we had great success throughout all the disciplines. With some of our juniors going onto represent Pembrokeshire at Wales.

In August, we held our 80th Anniversary Dinner to celebrate 80 years of Keyston YFC. It was held in the Wolfscastle Country Hotel, where over 100 current and past members enjoy a wonderful meal and enjoyed listening to our Guest Speaker – Mr Jamie Adams. A Chairman’s Board was also unveiled at the dinner.

To round off our busy year, members helped the Camrose Vintage Working Day committee set up, prepare & serve refreshments, helping in The Food Story marquee and of course, car parking. Not forgetting the bar which our seniors ran for the day with 19 of our members helping! It was an incredible day to be a part of with a great community spirit, and lots of money raised for charity.

Of course, as well as taking part in lots of competitions and raising money for charity we have had lots of fun together on outside visits and club nights, with members creating lifelong friendships, which is a massive part of YFC.

A massive thanks to our leaders for all their support in every aspect of club, helping with competitions and making sure everything runs smoothly.

It has been a very memorable year for Keyston YFC, and I, along with my fellow officials (Terrie, Joe, Dan, Ellen & Daisy) are very proud to have been part of our successful year.

Thank you.

Annie Peters Keyston YFC Chairman

We wished good luck to Lili James as she took part in the NFYFC Floral Art Competition in Malvern, where she placed third, making us a proud club. As the month went on, there were congratulations after the quiz team won the first round against Fishguard YFC and a successful Winter Fair. As Christmas was nearing, the Royal Welsh Winter Fair took place, Hannah finished 3rd in the lamb trimming competition, Nia came 4th in the Christmas wreath competition, and Ela placed 6th in the under 18 lamb stock judging, making us as a club extremely proud, helping Pembrokeshire to finish 3rd in Wales.

Many of the younger members had the opportunity to take part. A big well done to all who competed and thank you to all trainers! At Christmas we hosted the Christmas fair full of local stalls and ended the night with bingo! It was a great evening and certainly an amazing way to end the year.

In February after lots of preparation. We performed in the Entertainment competition and received 5th place for our energetic performance. More success came at the end of the month, as the Street dancing team danced their way to 2nd place in Builth, making our club and all of Pembrokeshire proud. Field Day was in April, we had several impressive results, which ended in the club coming 7th overall in the County. Cerys came joint second in the Auctioneering competition and our Senior Fencing team made up of members Simon, Kieran and Ewan came 3rd.

Our first pre-rally competition was the NFYFC cookery, where Nia, Lili and Cadi cooked some incredible dishes and came 4th! As pre-rally continued into May, so did our success, as the pig stock judging team had an amazing result coming first overall! More pre-rally competitions came from singing to stock judging, but some stand out results, from Ewan and Mia who came 2nd in the Junior woodwork competition with an amazing design, and our dairy stock judging team placed 4th with some brilliant results from Ela and Cerys.

Rally day arrived and after weeks of preparation, it was certainly worth it as we came 4th overall! We had an amazing day and even won some trophies, Lilly and McKayla won the trophy for the Demonstrate a circus skill competition, we won a trophy for the pig stock judging team, and Cerys won the trophy for the under 21 dairy stock judging. We also had some other brilliant results such as Seren winning the under 21 Floral Art who will go on to represent Llawhaden at Malvern show. Many of our members also had an amazing time at the rally dance!

After all our success in the quiz competition, our run sadly ended in the semi-final, which was hosted by Brawdyhayscastle YFC, it was a very close game. July was full of competitions, as our dance team came 3rd in the NFYFC Finals in Stafford, we as a club are extremely proud of our young members and a huge thank you to all the parents and of course to Alice for choreographing and training the dancers, well done to the dance team! Speaking of impressive results, Cerys represented Pembrokeshire at the Great Yorkshire Show in the NFYFC Dairy Stock judging helping the county come 13th!

August saw our annual car treasure hunt, where 24 cars followed the clues set by Stuart and Peter to Tavernspite, where Karen and Rhiannon were crowned winners this year! To end our year of competitions we saw a few members competing at the Royal Welsh this year. A huge congratulations to Cerys for coming 1st in the under 21 Dairy stock judging, bringing home a huge cup making us all extremely proud, helping Pembrokeshire to win the Dairy title! Another brilliant performance from our young acrobats Lilly and McKayla as they placed 7th in the circus skill competition. Our year ended after our Duck race fundraiser held at Gelli. It was a brilliant way to end the YFC year and was successful as we raised over £600 for the club.

We would like to say a big thank you to all our helpers and club leaders who take time out of their busy schedule to help us- From flower arranging to singing, stock judging and public speaking. We would not be half the club we are today without you!

## **LLYS-Y-FRAN**

Well, what a year it has been for Llys-y-Fran YFC - another hectic one!

The year started with our 70th AGM where new officials were nominated – Chairman Bethan Jenkins, Vice Chairman Beth Williams, Secretary Alys Owens, Assistant Secretary Hannah Rees, and Treasurer Steven James.

For our first club night after the AGM, we arranged a Waffle making evening. We then held our new member night where over 50 people came along.

Then it was time for the County AGM, where 2 of our past members were elected to come this years’ county officials, with Delme Harries being elected as County President and Carys Phillips was elected as County Chairman. Llys-y-Fran YFC walked away with a few trophies that evening, but most specially the Club of the Year award.

For our 70th year, we had decided to hold an Afternoon Tea for all past, present, and future members, to come along and look back at the last 70 years and look forward on our plans for the future. We had the first minute book of Llys-y-Fran YFC there for anyone to have a look. Scrapbooks and Minute books were put on display for everyone to have a look.

We then held numerous club nights - Waffle making, Ten Pin Bowling, Beetle Drive night, all whilst preparing for the County Eisteddfod. Llys-y-Fran YFC won the overall trophy for the homework section, Bethan Jenkins won the individual with the most points in the homework section, and we came 2nd overall.

November meant it was time for our Fireworks night. It was another fantastic evening, with entertainment before the Fireworks for the first time with Fire breathers. The money raised from the fireworks will be used to purchase a defibrillator for outside our Hall.

Then it was time for the Winter fair, and Llys-y-Fran YFC had an entry in every competition which resulted in us winning Winter Fair overall. There were many individual successes. Bethan Jenkins promotional video for the RWS Winter Fair then won at the Winter Fair.

Wales YFC Eisteddfod was this year hosted in Pembrokeshire, and members went along to compete and steward. The Parti Unsain came 2nd, Bethan Jenkins won the U28 Homework competition, and Alys Owens was part of the crowning Ceremony playing the Concert.

We held our 70th Anniversary dinner at Nant y Ffin, where over 200 past, present and future members came along, and it was a fantastic evening. Past and present members were able to look back and socialise with those that have built the club to be what it is today.

December was time for everyone to get dressed up for the Queens Ball as our very own Carys Phillips was Queen. We held our annual Christmas fair, and our Christmas service, to get everyone in the Christmas Spirit.

Wales YFC also held interviews for the International Programme, and congratulations must go the Bethan Jenkins who was selected for the European Rally in Austria, and Hannah Rees who was selected to go on the Mystery Trip which went to Greece.

It was then time for the English Public Speaking Competition, where many members performed excellent as we won overall! Rhys James won Senior Situations Vacant competition and Alys Owens won the Intermediate section. We helped Club Leader Tom Bevan in his tractor run, where we were selling drinks after they had come back to the show ground. January was Welsh Public Speaking, and we gained 4th overall.

February was time for the Talent Competition, and Delme Harries went on to write our production of “Where’s Wally?’ we came 2nd overall. We also walked away with the trophies for Best Act, Best Costumes and Best Technical Achievement.

Members then went on the Wales Public Speaking Day, where we had numerous successes. Field Day came, and our Efficiency with Safety team kept up their winning streak by winning it for another year. Megan Clewer Evans came 1st in the Dress making competition and Berwyn Warlow won the recycled metal work competition. Thanks to everyone’s hard work and dedication, we came 2nd overall. Then it was time for the Field Day Dance where it was announced that our Secretary, Alys Owens, was selected as one of the Rally Queen Attendants for this year.

Llys-y-Fran YFC then held an Easter Bingo, where over 40 people came along to Maenclochog Hall. Thanks must go to Dan Morgan for coming along as our Bingo Caller. The Wales Field Day where the Efficiency with Safety team went on to compete and won again, and Megan Clewer Evans came 3rd in her dress making competition. Rhys James also competed in the Senior Stockman Competition.

May came which meant it was time for Rally. Many members competed in the Pre-Rally Competitions with numerous successes which meant we won the Trophy for the Highest Placed club in the Pre-Rally competitions. Then it was time for Rally Day, where some members were competing in their very first YFC Competition. Alys came along as a Rally Queen Attendant, and they all looked fabulous. It was another fantastic day for Llys-y-Fran YFC as we won Rally overall! Another brilliant result for Team Llys-y-Fran YFC.

Members went on to compete in the Sports day, where they competed in the Dodgeball, Basketball, Hockey, Rounders and Rugby 7’s.

At the end of June, we held a tractor run in Memory of Gareth Kiwi Dally, a past member of the club. We had 90 tractors, and an amazing £10,000 was raised for Bowel Cancer UK.

Rhys James, and the Efficiency with Safety team went to the NFYFC Competitions Day. The Efficiency with Safety team won, and Will Lewis was the highest placed individual in the ATV Competition. The team have now won the competition 10 times. Rhys James and Jac Llewellin also competed in the Great Yorkshire show in the Dairy Stock judging.

During the year, our Indoor Sports team and Quiz team had been competing, and what a year it has been for both as they won both!

Members competed at the Royal Welsh in the Welcome to the Circus, Will playing in the Rugby 7’s and the Promote your Club which came 3rd.

As well as all the activities, competitions, fun nights we have had we have also been undertaking ongoing building works at our YFC Hall which has transformed our building. It is nearly finished, and we look at being able to share this with past members and the local community in the near future.

We are proud to see member Ffion Edwards being elected as Ambassador Elect of the Society.

As a club, we would like to thank our Club President, Vice President, Leaders, Parents and Supporters for all their help during the year. We are extremely grateful for all your help in training us, keeping us in order, and supporting us in any way we ask you.

It has been a fantastic year for us on our 70th year, and we look forward to seeing what the next 70 years brings for Llys-y-Fran YFC.

Diolch yn fawr.

## **MARTLETWY**

We have had such a wonderful year! We started with our AGM on August 30th and looked forward to a fun year ahead with our new officials. We’re a small club with young members so were immensely proud that so many of our members welcomed positions in the AGM.

September was a busy month for us and great way to welcome our new members and what a welcome that was!We welcomed a huge amount of new faces which was fantastic! We spent the New Members Evening playing team building games and finished off with hot chocolate, all the trimmings and lots of cake. We welcomed Sarah and Lauren Arthur for a talk on Ironman, both ladies kindly allowed members to have a go on their bike and to look through all of their memorabilia, including the medals!

October started with a trip to Moithan Flock, kindly hosted by Luke & Beth Watts. We enjoyed a talk about the sheep and the lambs, were invited to get hands on with the sheep and started our stock judging practice for the Winter Fair. Beth looked after us very well and kindly provided excellent refreshments! We started our public speaking practice in October and were pleasantly surprised at how many members wanted to take part. Some of our members went pumpkin picking and supplied our meeting hall with excellent calved pumpkins. We enjoyed a trip to Clerkenhill for Halloween which was very scary, too scary for the parents who stayed inside and drank coffee! As scary as it was, it was lots of fun and we thank Clerkenhill very much for having us.

November brought us the Winter Fair; we were extremely proud of our club as so many of our new and younger members were eager to take part. We had a 1st in the lamb carcass and a 3rd in sheep stock judging. Emily Hughes did us proud with her yuletide chocolate log, it looked delicious and got her 2nd place on the day. Thank you to all of our trainers and supporters! We enjoyed our Annual Dinner at Begelly Arms, Kilgetty and had a lot of fun with the awards. Well done to all of our cup winners and especially to Tom Harries and Harry Brown for maintaining the best mullets, very difficult to choose so both boys came away with awards for their exceptional hairstyles!! It was so lovely to see so many new and old faces of Martletwy YFC at the Dinner. We had a trip to Tallis Amos in Narberth and thank them for the lovely welcome they gave us. The members enjoyed the evening immensely, and everyone came away with mugs and pens. We had an indoor games evening, supported by hot chocolate and cakes! We discovered a few table tennis champions that night!!

Tis the season to be jolly and boy did we enjoy December! We threw ourselves into public speaking, with so many of our newer and younger members wanting to have a go! We came away from the day at Pembrokeshire College with a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th & 8th…so proud of everyone that attended and took part. We would like to especially thank our trainers for the competition. We held Christmas Bingo and sang Christmas Carols on the night. The members enjoyed decorating the hall for the event and putting up the Christmas Tree. We raised a lot of money for our club.

January started with a good spring clean. We spent a weekend tidying up and gutting our YFC Hall, we came across lots of things from Martletwy over the years and enjoyed looking through old scrapbooks and trying on old costumes. We started our practice for the Talent too and held auditions for parts and behind the scenes.

We’d like to thank Sarah Arthur for helping us with the singing practices for our talent. We also hosted Llys -y-Fran for the indoor quiz in January and congratulate them on their win.

Huge Martletwy YFC Congratulations go to Luke & Beth who got married in January and held a wonderful reception full of fun and laughter at Cardeeth to celebrate their wedding.

February brought us more indoor games nights, including indoor hockey which provided a lot of fun for all the members. We threw ourselves into Talent Practice and everyone got involved with set building and costume making. We’d especially like to thank Olwen Phillips for her help with the set, and Hamish Brown and Richard Allen for their help too. We had the BEST time performing our talent show – The Martletwy Harbour Talent Show at the County competition in Fishguard School. We would like to thank Emma Davies & Charles Harries for writing and producing the talent. It was so much fun to do and got all of the members involved in the fun! Molly Brown won best actress for U16, and ‘Betty’ played by Molly has remained a fond character of our club! We made finals night and came 4th overall. It was definitely a night to remember!

March brought us more talent shows, we performed our talent on stage at Greenhill School with South Pembs YFC and raised lots of money for our clubs while having lots of fun. We hosted Llawhaden YFC for Indoor Games and won.Well done to Llawhaden and thank you for coming.

April brought lots of mud at the Field Day, thank you to all of our trainers. We brought home a 3rd in junior fencing, 5th in Fferm Factor, 6th Farm Machinery and also did well in junior Stock judging – well done to all members who took part. Some members having never taken part in competitions before. We held a BBQ and hired a bucking bronco for a fun evening to celebrate and thank everyone for helping and being involved with the talent. We also started practices for the Rally.

May brought the Rally and all the pre-Rally competitions. We tried to enter everything this year if we could, and we nearly did it. We had a lot of fun taking part in everything, we came 10th overall and are super proud of all of our members for taking part. We’d like to thank all of our trainers and supporters for their help in the build up to and on the day of the Rally. We did really well in flower arranging this year, thank you Olwen & Hannah Phillips for all of your help, all of our flower arranging members had 2nd place. Josh Richards did us proud with his craft coming 1st and our rally promotional sign (with its rather unusual subject matter!) came 1st.We finished May with some sports and fun and games.

June brought us the Junior ball hosted by the Youth Forum which our junior members thoroughly enjoyed. We hosted BBQs at the Cresselly Arms and took part in the sports Day. Our members enjoyed the dodgeball, basketball and taking part in the rugby too in June. Our Basketball team came 1st on the day and some of our members went on to represent Pembrokeshire in Aberystwyth bringing home to Pembrokeshire a 2nd! We played South Pembs in the semifinals for indoor games and won! Thank you to South Pembs for hosting us! We lost in the final to LLys Y Fran and send them massive congratulations for the win!

July gave us a rather wet Royal Welsh Show, a massive well done to members Kacy Hughes and Josh Richards for taking part in the competitions and representing Pembrokeshire

.

We finished this year with a ‘BANG’ in August, Martletwy YFC hosted the Tractor Races & Dyno Day at Yerbeston Farm. The idea was thought up by some of the members parents, who kindly gave up so much of their time to help organise it. We had no idea how the event would be received, but it was a huge success, raising money for Air Ambulance Wales, DPJ Foundation and Martletwy YFC. It was so good, and so much fun, we’re going to do it all again next year!! We’d like to thank the Woods Family and the Jones Family for their participation and to all the volunteers and members who helped make it an extra special success for our club. We also could not have done it without the Martletwy Show Committee and the County Show Committee. We also had the most amazing and supportive sponsors for the event.

The members of Martletwy YFC would like to say a massive thank you to all of our helpers and supporters, and especially to our members parents. We’re a young club and we rely on them to ferry the members about, this allows us to enter all of the competitions, to participate in events and to be part of Pembrokeshire YFC movement. We would also like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the County Office team for their support, and to all of the other clubs in the Pembrokeshire movement – good luck for next year!

On a final note, our club would like to mention Trevor Nicholas, one of our founder members who sadly passed away this year. We are eternally grateful to those who started our club, and we send our gratitude and love to Trevors family.

## **SOUTH PEMBS**

Following our 80th AGM last August we began the year with calving live, having our first meeting in the collecting yard! Then came the new members evening where we welcomed over 30 new and existing members for an evening of fun games.

The following Sunday we had our final 80th anniversary celebration, our afternoon tea, where several generations of the club's members and supporters looked back over the last 80 years and raised money for the club and a local charity. Then over the following weeks members enjoyed several club nights including a talk from a past member about Folly Farm, a visit to the local fire station and pumpkin picking. Members also competed at the County Eisteddfod in recitation, art and TikTok video competitions.

In November, the club joined Llawhaden and Fishguard YFCs for a fantastic Halloween night at Clerkenhill. We also held our annual bonfire night at the beginning of November which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Meanwhile members competed at the County Winter Fair all doing extremely well with 2 members going to the Wales Winter Fair to compete in chicken jointing and beef stock judging. Later that month members had fun at a sports night with Brawdy Hayscastle YFC and learned lots in our life skills night.

At the beginning of December members had an extremely successful day at the County Public Speaking- jointly winning overall the Brownslate Trophy, along with experiencing success in all competitions entered and coming away with several individual trophies. Meanwhile the club's Christmas celebrations were underway with a craft night and a club Carol Service and Carol Singing both events raising £500 that was donated later in the year to the Wales Air Ambulance.

The new year began with a trip to Cardiff for some members with the Wales youth forum and practicing for our Talent performance. In February members performed at the Talent Feast all thoroughly enjoying the experience and coming away with some nominations, also that evening Charlotte Lewis was named Pembrokeshire’s Junior Member of the year. Later in the month we performed our Talent again for friends and family with Martletwy YFC- raising money for the clubs.

Members volunteered at the Pembroke Farmers Club Cawl and Crumble at the beginning of March. Also, that month members enjoyed going to Lambing Live, having a presentation from our County Chairman and a games night. Following success in December, 4 members represented the county at the Wales Public Speaking, coming away with some superb results, and being part of the winning Pembrokeshire team. We also held our Easter Bingo in March where members, friends and family came together to socialize and raise funds for the club and the Paul Popham Fund.

April began with members competing at the County Field Day in a range of competitions from stock judging and Fferm factor to auctioneering and fencing, following success that day one member then went on to compete at the Wales Field Day in the junior stockman competition. Also, that month 4 members attended the Wales YFC junior trip to Aberystwyth meeting members from across Wales.

Prior to the rally we also enjoyed club nights such as a trip to Hangar 5 with Martletwy YFC and a visit to Dai’s Dairy. Then came Pre-Rally competitions all of which resulted in success including several individual trophies in stock judging and winning the overall PreRally stock judging- this is the first time South Pembs YFC has done this since 1974! Then came Rally day- several members competed in a range of competitions some for the first time, all doing extremely well. This all meant that the club came 5th overall and won the junior Rally shield for most points in junior competitions- a brilliant achievement for our very young club!

Following the Rally members had a brilliant time competing in sports competitions, entering teams in basketball, dodgeball, and touch rugby. Following this, members continued to enjoy club nights including first aid awareness training, a beach night, a sports day night, a visit to Fenton Vets and a club trip to Clerkenhill adventure farm.

Meanwhile 3 members of the club went to Staffordshire to compete in the NFYFC Public Speaking in the Call my Bluff- doing extremely well coming 4th in their section. Next came the Royal Welsh Show where three of our members competed in stock judging competitions, all doing extremely well with two winning their sections, and all being part of the winning Pembrokeshire team.

Following this in August we attended Pembroke Town and Country Show with our stand, joined with Pembrokeshire Food Story, where we held a variety of activities for the public and showed people what we do and have been doing over the past year. Finally, most recently we enjoyed a brilliant club night at Green Lane Maize Maze along with a summer social BBQ for members, friends, family, and supporters.

The last year has been a busy one, but also an extremely enjoyable one. Thank you very much to all those who have helped and supported the club throughout the year allowing us to do and achieve what we have.

## **TIERS CROSS**

Is it really that time of year again?!?! I can’t believe that another year has flown by at Tiers Cross YFC! Members kicked off the year in September with their annual opening social evening which saw lots of new members come to try the YFC experience, along with many members which had lost touch over the years re-join the club! October soon came and the club was busy with meetings and club nights.

November was fast approaching and it wouldn’t be Halloween without our annual pumpkin carving evening! November saw many members from the club competing in the annual mini winter fair competition at Whitland Mart, and of course the annual knock out quiz competitions were well under-way.

Special mentions must go out to one club member, Nia Roberts, who did a skydive throughout the year to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis as well as Joan Phillips, mother of one of our members – John Phillips – who ran the London Marathon in aid of Juvenile Diabetes. Both fantastic charities that we were happy to support with club events such as bingo.

It was lovely to see so many Tiers Cross members, young and old, turning up to compete rally day. Well done everyone for all the effort you put in. After having such a hectic couple of months members decided to have a quiet June, with only a few meetings and a trip to the beach!

I would like to take this moment to congratulate Becky Young, our previous club chairman on an excellent year. It was an honour to serve as her secretary and I look forward to building on the hard work she has put into club over the next year.

So that’s it, another year in the life of Tiers Cross YFC. We would like to finish off our yearly report by saying a big thank you to all of our leaders, presidents and vice presidents, trainers, parents and any other affiliates for all your help, knowledge and support throughout the year - we couldn’t have done it without you! Now to planning next year!
