## NEUADD PENDRE SOCIAL CENTRE

Charity number: 524300

Neuadd Pendre Social Centre Trustee’s report for year ending 30th September 2025

## Introduction:

Neuadd Pendre dates back to 1912 when a drill hall was built on Brook Street in the Pendre area of Tywyn for the Territorial Army (the 7[th] Battalion the Royal Welsh Fusiliers). The hall, now known as Neuadd Pendre, has recently been renovated. It offers a flexible indoor space incorporating the Main Hall (171.0m[2] ), Raven Room (90.0m[2] ), Cadfan Hall (77.0m[2] ), Corbett Hall (50.0m[2] ). Its adaptability makes it a cornerstone of the Tywyn community. The hall houses a 3-manual 9-rank Wurlitzer Organ which was originally installed in the Granada cinema, Woolwich in 1937.

The aim of the Neuadd Pendre Social Centre is the provision of a Community Centre that offers facilities for various activities - meetings of Clubs and Societies, Committee Meetings, Concerts, Private Parties (Wedding Receptions, Club Social Evenings) and Dancing, for the people of Tywyn and the wider community.

## The 2024/25 year:

Neuadd Pendre has continued to provide benefit to the Tywyn community hosting: a number of public meetings (including on health service provision and rail services); Tywyn Council meetings; Seniors Forum meetings; Dance classes, Macular Group meetings and a Memorial Darts Championship. It continued to entertain the community with popular events (e.g. The 90’s Experience) and family discos and Quiz Nights, along with the regular Wurlitzer Organ concerts. The year saw a number of Wedding Receptions; Wakes and Birthday parties being held in the hall.

## Finances:

The 2025 accounts show another year on year loss. The Management Committee has been invigorated with new members recruited, and has put remedial measures in place to address the finances including: price increases, improved advertising and promotion, and restoring the web site. Although these measures had not been in place long at the close of the year the beneficial effect of them was starting to be seen.

## Debt:

At the end of the 2025 financial year a significant energy debt was identified, which was under investigation and negotiation with electricity supplier EDF as the accounts closed.
