## **Baglan Boys and Girls Club -Trustee Report**

## **Charity No: 524226**

## **Introduction**

Baglan Boys and Girls Club has been based at the Evans Bevans Playing Fields since the 1960s. Throughout its long history, the charity has remained dedicated to providing high-quality community facilities that support a wide range of sporting and recreational activities.

A number of local clubs continue to benefit from the facilities managed by the charity, including Baglan Dragons Football Club, Baglan Cricket, Netball Wizards, Baglan Rugby, Port Talbot Cricket, and Cricket Wales. The Trustees remain committed to ensuring that these facilities continue to serve the community of Baglan and the surrounding districts, in line with the charity’s founding purpose.

## **Governance and Management**

The Trustees have maintained diligent and transparent management practices throughout the year. Updated policies and procedures are available on the charity’s website (Baglanbgc.co.uk), ensuring openness and accountability.

During the reporting period, two football clubs—Baglan Dragons and Baglan Boys and Girls Club—made full use of the facilities. In August 2024, these clubs merged to create a clearer development pathway for players. Despite the merger, both organisations continue to operate as members of Baglan Boys and Girls Club.

## **Charitable Activities and Impact**

The Trustees have focused on ensuring the long-term sustainability of the charity and increasing its capacity to invest in improvements to the facilities. Through active fundraising efforts, grant applications, community events, and sponsorship arrangements, the charity has progressed several key projects, including:

- Expanding community spaces

- Upgrading electrical infrastructure

- Enhancing accessibility and inclusivity of facilities

The appointment of new Trustees has further strengthened governance and expanded the charity’s capacity, introducing new ideas, initiatives, and energy to support ongoing development.

Additionally, the charity has been able to broaden support for inclusion groups, ensuring that the facilities remain accessible, welcoming, and beneficial to all members of the community.

## **Commitment to the Future**

The Trustees and Management Committee remain resolute in their ambition to uphold and promote the charity’s mission. Their continued dedication ensures that Baglan Boys and Girls Club remains a valued and sustainable resource for the community, providing high-quality facilities and meaningful opportunities for sport, recreation, and community engagement.

The balance as of 31.03.2025 was £139,179 of which £103,689 is restricted funds For and on behalf of Baglan Boys and Girls club
