The Trustees have pleasure in presenting their Annual Report and Financial Statements for the period ended 31 March 2023.

Reference and administrative details

Llanharan Recreation Ground Trust (“the Charity”) is a charitable Trust registered and in Wales.

The Charity is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales under registration number: 524178.

The registered address of the Charity is Welfare Hall, off Bridgend Road, Llanharan CF72 9RA

Statement on public benefit

The objectives and activities, achievement and performance sections of this report clearly set out the activities which the charity undertakes for public benefit.

The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty of the Charities Act 2006.

Objectives and activities

The objectives of the Charity as defined are:

The provision and maintenance of a recreation centre playing fields including children’s play area, sports pitches (rugby and football) Green space in Llanharan and Bryncae, Community Activities.

To achieve the charities objectives, the charity focuses activities on providing a good quality facility for all to benefit from.

Management

All positions within the charity are on a voluntary basis and no expenses are paid.

The charity during 2023/24 had approximately 9 volunteers.

Achievements and performance

The Trust has again experienced another exceptionally busy year, seeing more improvements

The Trust is grateful to the community council for funding via CIL funding the upgrade of floodlighting on the pitches. This has been a long-term project, and hugely benefits all users of the ground.

Fundraising has been excellent, this is down to the hard work of Trustees, who continue to ensure the Trust and its users are pivotal within the community.

The hall continues to benefit from upgrades such as widening of internal doors.

Financial

The charities income for the year was £131,010 which mainly derived from a grant.

The expenditure of the charity stands at £162,470

The Trustees wish to pass on their grateful thanks to Martin & Sarah Liney who manage the hall and grounds on our behalf. It is without doubt that both are the driving force to the day-to-day success of the facilities. They wish to pass on thanks to their fellow board of Trustees, who continued their work during the year.

Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities

The law applicable to charities in England & Wales requires Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the position of the charity.

In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:

  2. Observe the methods and principles in the charities SORP

  3. State where applicable UK accounting standards have been followed; subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements.

  4. Prepare the financial statements

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the transactions by disclosing with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial p0osition and ensure that the financial statements comply with charities Act 2011, the charity accounts and reports regulations 2009 and provisions of the Trust deed. The trustees are also responsible for the prevention and detection of fraud and all other irregularities.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity for the period ended 31 March 2024 which are set out on Page 8

Respective and responsibilities of the trustees and examiner

As the charities trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in the accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the act”)

I report in respect of my examination of the Trusts accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed the applicable directions given by the charities commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
