Review of the charitVs financial position at the end of the period.
The financial position of Abery5twyth Sea Cadets is very healthy mainly due to a donation of
£20,000 from the sale of the assets of Aberystwyth Naval Club following its dissolution. Thi5
more than made up for the disruption to hjnd raising activities caused by the need to
prioritise the continuity of the young people's activities.
Statement explaining the policy for holding reserve5 Stating why they
are held.
Our policy is to maintain a reserve which is sufficient to keep the unit ticking over in the
event of some major disruption along the lines of covid.
Amount of reserves held
Under current conditions we consider £8000 to be a reasonable reserve. In addition to the
reserve we are hoping to improve and extend our boat storage. Negotiations are at an early
stage so what we will be able to achieve 15 uncertain but we want to have sufficient funds if
and when an opportunity arises.
Reasons for holding zero reseNes.

Type of governing document
Aberystwyth Sea Cadet Corps was founded in 1964. If a governing document was written at
this time I do not have it.
How is the charity constituted?
Aberystwyth Sea Cadet5 is a charity in its own right but it is one unit of the Sea Cadet Corp5
and we operate in accordance with its rules. Our activities are subject to their ongoing
overall scrutiny with an annual formal inspection.
Trustee selection methods includlng det2ils of any constitutional provisions e.g. election to
post and any wider network with which the charity works-
The activities of the Sea Cadets is overseen by the Unit Management Team. The UMT
comprises the trustees, officers, volunteer representstives and parent representative.
Trustees are approved by the UMT.
As noted earlier the Aberystwyth unit operates within the umbrella organisation the Sea
Cadet Corps.

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charivs
work has made to the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.
In addition to the day to day activities listed earlier here is a part of the Officer IC (Goncalo
Dias), report to the AGM..
'Our Unil numbers have also grown, last vear we had 22 Cadets on board and I am
happy to report we now have 33 cadets on board and a total of 22 Adult Voliinteers
(20 last year) so a giant growtli and with many more eiiquii'iniy we see this number
further increasing for next year. We have provided a large number of training
activities over the last year and cadels have attended an increasing number of district
eekends and area courses. We have run: for the first time in 6 years, a basic catering
coiirse. Althoucyli our boating hasn't been strong. we have aim5 and actions in place to
increase the delivery and qualiticatioiis this boatini7 season. In total last year we
completed 12 hours of boating and we alread), have 9 hours just from the last 3
boating sessions.
We have continued our reach within the community. including attending
i'ernembi'ance day and the recent VE-Day celebrations as well as othei. community
events (as an example, we attended the recent Race for Life and w'ere tasked with
handing out water ￿}d medals at the fiiiish line). Sornething thal could be considered
smaIl was a big help and support to the event organisers which was also not¢d by
members of the public. The next year looks to be an exciting year with new cadets,
voIuTLteei's and opportunLties coming up for us..
##Additional information (optional)
During the financial year the unit had the misfortune of suddenly losing its Officer in charge.
Maintaining continuity of our activities without impacting the cadets was accordingly the
main priority of the trustee5 and other members of the Unit Management Team. Here is part
of the Chairman'5 report to the AGM:
'This is my first AGM as Chair having taken over from Peter Norrington-Davies at
the last AGM. Yhaiie been in post for just 12 months and I have to say, it's been a
pleasure to serve the Unit, ITOM having the most supportive and experienced team ihal,
I would say are our unsung heroes fiDm the Vice-chair. John, the Treasurer, Bernard,
to the Secretary, Fiona and all the uniformed team, l am happy to say, that from what
I've witnessed over the last 12 months, the Unit is not only surviving but moving
from strength to strength.
The inosl significant i*m this last year was losing Lawrence Biirke as OIC. We wish
him well for the future but this left a gap. We would like to take this opportunity to
thank Lt Cdr Will Elliot ￿ld his team who immediately stepped in and regularly
travelled here to Aberyst￿1h, to ensui-e the Unit could continue uninterrupted.
After an application process and a 6-Inonth probation period supported by Lt Cdr Will
Elliot, the Unit Management Teani unaniniously voted to recommend Goncalo Dias
for the pern]anent promotion lo Oic and subsequent promotion to CO. We have seen
him embi'ace the post with passion and commitment. On that note, the Committee has
been impressed by the level of activities and individual progress and a¢hiei'ements of
oiir cadets over the lasi 12 months, I'm sure we will hear more on this.
