Huby Playing Fields Association (registered charity 523364) – ANNUAL REPORT 2022

Trustees:

Simon Bullough (Chairman) (Haverdale House, Skates Lane, Sutton on the Forest, York YO61 1HB) Helen Bullough (Vice Chairman) ((Lyncroft, Back Lane, Tollerton YO61 1PZ)

Jackie Bullough (Secretary) ((Haverdale House, Skates Lane, Sutton on the Forest, York YO61 1HB) Sara White (Treasurer) Glebe Cottage, Main Street, Huby York YO61 1HS

Structure:

Huby Playing Fields Association is run by a core group of Trustees each with a role to form the main structure of the committee; all Trustees were voted by committee members. The committee comprises of local volunteers who attend regular meetings. Huby Playing Fields Association holds it Annual General Meeting whereby all key roles and trustees are voted for and agreed by all committee members.

Annual Objectives:

For some time now, the trustee’s main objective has been the demolition of the existing facilities which are unsafe and no longer fit for purpose. 2022 saw the old building demolished and all material, including hazardous asbestos, disposed of; leaving the committee with a blank canvas on which to continue with plans for the new development.

As with previous years, our greatest aim is to continue raising funds to build on our current finances and consequently provide the village with a facility suitable for the future and the for the needs of multiple user groups.

The goal for 2023 is to progress the build project by making our final funding bids to ensure sufficient funds are in place; the trustees and wider committee have acknowledged that this is taking somewhat longer. However, due to the rising cost in building materials and labour we are anticipating supplementary funds will be required, above our initial forecast.

The next stages of the project include finalising a build specification which will be used to form the tender package. Local business and sole traders will be approached to offer them an opportunity to tender for the work with a view to awarding the main contractor(s) by the end of summer 2023. Dates for the build to begin will be finalised and it is our hope that all finances and labour will be in place to begin work on the new pavilion in late 2023.

The trustee’s and wider committee remain mindful that there are limited funds available to cover the day to day running of the area, insurance being our main concern. However, we will be looking to do a smaller fund-raising event to cover these costs in the summer months.

Financial Review:

2022’s greatest financial success has been securing a number of grants, funds and pledges; monies already received are showing in the 2022 reporting accounts and further pledges listed below:

We continue to receive support from local businesses to support our main project. As we move forward in 2023, we remain mindful of the task ahead but confident that the achievements made throughout 2022 set us in good stead for another successful year of fund raising and progression.
