We provide facilities for the whole community. The village hall is available to anybody for hire. Individuals and members of the community can book the hall for personal use i.e. weddings, parties, christenings etc. Weekly activities include senior citizens meetings, short mat bowls, Pilates, and badminton clubs, along with other exercise classes. The local primary school use the hall for larger functions that the school cannot cater for, including their Christmas Play. There are Stay and Play for pre-school classes, band practices, and an annual scout weekend, and a variety of other regular events.

In the year, the hall completed its large renovation of the kitchen. This has benefitted hall users as there is now a fully functioning commercial kitchen for use in the Christmas dinner, senior citizens events, and a variety of other uses for the community, with a noted increase in bookings for the senior citizen events. Funding of £9,600 was also received in the year for this from the A C R E.

Work has been largely completed on the decarbonisation project, for which grants were received in the year ended 28.02.24. This project has included fitting solar panels to the roof, car charging points and various other decarbonisation expenditure. The aim of this is to reduce our environmental impact and strive towards greater carbon neutrality.

A further grant was received in the year, from the local council to provide disabled toilet access in the hall. The work for this has been completed in the year ended 28/02/26.

Financial Review

Cash at the bank as at 28/02/2025 is £41,421, most of which is restricted for the disabled toilet access project.

The charity’s main source of funds is receipts from hire of the hall, and these costs are set to cover day to day expenses of the charity. The grants are used to improve the village hall for the community. The village hall also raises funds from car boot sales, race nights, domino drives and other events to help boost the charity’s available funds.

Future plans for the charity

The coming year will see a great deal of investment into the village hall in the form of the completion of the disabled toilet access project, and a further grant being received in the year to improve the halls heating system. This is to ensure the hall is accessible and provides the necessary facilities to all who use it throughout the year, it is cost effective, and low-impact on the environment. The trustees and other members of the committee have worked hard on fundraising this year to aid these projects.
