North Cave Village Hall
Annual Report
North Cave Village Hall continues to serve the population of North Cave and surrounding Villages. The Hall is made up of a front hall with a capacity of 120, a rear hall with a capacity of 60 and a small meeting room/store. The occupancy is made up by local events and functions, a Polling Station for the local council, keep fit, the Women’s Institute, Bingo and private functions such as parties and local and an international musical group for practice. It seems that in this area we are mostly back to a normal.
We provide plastic aprons and hand disinfectants and surfaces are wiped using hot water and detergent after each occupancy.
We ensure that there is no ingress of people from one hall to the rear hall or to the meeting room. The rear hall is occupied by a Preschool Group so to prevent ingress of customers, we have provided locks on all doors leading from the front to the rear halls.
The boiler had its safety check, which was satisfactory, a five-year check on all electrics, which was pronounced satisfactory.
Unfortunately, one of our trustees, Mr. Geoff Little, died we all miss is save advice and fellowship.
A negative aspect was from our Local Authority who changed our status to a business status which effectively affected our waste collection. Up to this point all waste was segregated into household general, food waste and paper and if any occupier of the hall took food waste home to dispose of it effectively, they may be prosecuted.
We are talking about a minimum amount of waste generated by the WI Café, serving soup and sandwiches if the Charity Commission could support local Village Halls it would be appreciated.
We have also experienced an increase in the price of oil and expect to have further increases.
