STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
The charity is governed by conveyance trust deeds dated 30 June 1964 and conveyance dated 5 June 1972.
How the charity is constituted
The charity is a non-incorporated charity.
Charitable Status
The charity became registered at the Charity Commission on 8th March 1971, and was also recognised as a charity for tax purposes by HM Revenue & Customs on that date.
Trustees
New trustees are appointed by members at annual general meeting; or by the members or charity trustees at any other time.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objects
The charity's objects are:
To provide amateur sports facilities
To help members of the general public in Leven and the surrounding area.
To provide buildings, facilities and open space
Activities
The provision of sporting and social facilities for the local community.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Main achievements of the charity
Leven Playing Fields Association is a voluntary organisation that provides sporting and leisure facilities.
Currently football, cricket, bowls, tennis, netball, badminton, karate, kick boxing, Zumba are regular activities.
Dance classes, line dancing, garden club, walking, Alzheimer’s memory care, Leven Lites Theatre Group, Leven School Pre- School all rent rooms.
There is an annual auction and craft fair.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Reserves Policy
The trustees’ policy on reserves is not to create specific reserves, but at the same time, carry sufficient liquidity to meet all foreseeable expenditure.
Restricted funds are only expended in the manner for which the funds were given. Once restricted funds are received, the trustees take steps to use those funds expediently for the specified purpose.
Throughout the year under review, and the previous year, the trustees consider that all funds have been unrestricted funds.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF LEVEN PLAYING FIELD ASSOCIATION
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Leven Playing Field Association (‘the Charity’) for the Period 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023 set out on pages 5 to 7.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the Charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
- accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by Section 130 of the Act;
or
- the accounts do not accord with those accounting records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

ACCOUNTING POLICIES
Basis of preparing the financial statements
The financial statements have been prepared on a receipts and payments basis.
Receipts
Receipts consist of cash donations and grant funding.
Payments
Payments consist of amounts expended in relation to the charity’s work in furtherance of its objects.
Taxation
The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.
