Members of the trustee board is open to volunteers over 18 years for persons within the locality of the sea cadet unit. The trustees oversee the day to day running of the unit. The trustees seek the views of the Senior Leadership Team including the Commanding Ofcer, and all other volunteers and cadets when deciding any future discussion, and funding for the unit. All cadets from 10 to 18 complete the cadet experience were they complete a training programme and move up the ranks. This is managed by the Commanding Ofce and his instructors. There is a Safeguarding policy in place, which is produced by the Marine Society and Sea Cadet Society who are the overarching organisaton who manage the Sea cadet and Royal Marine cadet units and detachments. DBS checks are carried out prior to commencement of volunteering or trusteeship and checks are carried out again in line with the MSSC statutory requirements, which is every three years. If the DBS is expired, then the get suspended from your positon untl it is renewed. Mandatory training must also be completed; Adult Inducton, Responsible for informaton, Health & safety, and Safeguarding (Virtual and online) which is also renewed every three years All trustees give their tme voluntarily and received no remuneraton or other benefts. |

The charitable purpose of the Unit is to promote the development of young people in achieving their physical, intellectual, and social potental as individuals and as responsible citzens by the provision of educaton and leisure tme actvites using a nautcal theme and in accordance with the principles, ethos, and practces of the Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC). - Ofer young people a structured environment in which to develop; - Provide access to educaton and trainingincluding (but not |
| restricted to): sailing (inshore and ofshore), paddle sports, power boatng, seamanship, navigaton, marine engineering, cooking, music, frst aid, drill, piping, and public service; - Provide opportunites for young people to obtain a range of qualifcatons; and - Provide opportunites for communityinvolvement. |

Objectves and actvites In planning our actvites for the year, we keep in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public beneft at our trustee meetngs. Examples of these, are poppy selling for the RBL, remembrance parade, Trafalgar parade, sea cadet compettons, unit reviews, Royal Naval Support Visit and fundraising for the unit etc. These actvites beneft young people by developing their self- confdence, social skills, life skills and providing opportunites for young people to become volunteers themselves. We welcome all young people, aged 18 or over, regardless of personal background, faith, gender, or personal circumstances. |

We are truly grateful for the many hours our trustees and volunteers, have spent coaching, training, supportng, guiding, listening, and encouraging our cadets to be the best version of themselves. Without this valuable contributon of tme, energy, and expertse we would not have been able to achieve so much. When we produce grants, we obtain guidance and support from the Natonal Fundraising Manager for the MSSC and any grant is approved by the Unit Management Teamprior to submission. |

Financial year end 31/03/2024 was a positve one, with the following: 1. The unit has fve accounts (Running, Savings, Diglis Refurb, RMC and Cadet fundraising) to separate money and hold reserves. 2. The subscripton for the SC & RMC’s are deposited by the adults at home directly into the relevant accounts via BACS 3. Revenue totalled £24,601 and expenditure £27,189. Total funds startng the fnancial year - £18,892 and closing £16,303 over the fve accounts. We try to keep at least £5000 in reserves as this will keep our unit running for a few months in cadet numbers were to suddenly drop. |

Our main source of funds this year has been grants, donatons and subscriptons from cadets’ parents. Cost £32 for senior cadets atending twice a week and £16 for junior cadets atending once a week. We have also received a £2,300 grant from MSSC to start a Royal Marines detachment. These funds were used on the setup costs, uniform and equipment for 10 RMC’s We stll are stll very lucky, and contnue to receive donatons, totalling £966 Most of the income is applied to the units’ related actvites. With the main costs incurred being, payment of utlity bills, uniforms and rent. |
