Broadwas Parish Room Charity (Broadwas Village Hall) Report of the trustees for the year ending 31° March 2021
The Committee of Management of Broadwas Parish Room Charity present their annual report and audited accounts for the year ended 31°t March 2021 and confirm they comply with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011, the trust deed and the Charities SORP (FRS 102).
Objectives and Purpose
The purposes of Broadwas Parish Room (locally known as the Village Hall) is for the use of the inhabitants of the Parish of Broadwas and adjoining districts in the County of Worcestershire (called “the area of benefit”) without distinction of political religious or other opinions including use for meetings lectures and classes and for other forms of recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life of the said inhabitants.
Review of Activities and Achievements
During the five years prior to the period covered by this report plans were prepared, planning permission obtained and funding applied for to carry out an extension of the building to increase the length of the main hall and add a meeting room and store room. It was planned that construction work on the ground would start in April / June 2020. In the event Covid 19 restrictions delayed the start until November 2020.
The Hall has been closed for public use throughout the period of this report due to Covid 19 restrictions. However it was possible to start and complete a significant amount of work towards the extension. Indeed as there was no demand for public use the work proceeded without much interruption. Financial Activity
Since Broadwas Parish Room was opened in its present form in 1974 the annual financial turnover has never been above £5000.00. So this current year is an anomaly created only because we have undertaken the extension work which required the acquisition of funding well above our normal turnover. Our local Parish Council had established a contingency fund to assist with the extension and together with additional funding from ACRE, the National Lottery, Knightwick & Cotheridge Parish Council and Malvern Hills District $106 fund the required figure was achieved.
The Future
The Management Committee very much hope that business will return to normal very soon
