## **About Us -**

Werrington Village Hall, is based in Werrington Staffordshire and is a community resource for all ages which houses the local pre-school and hosts a wide range of community activities, for example the local 50+ club and wellbeing activities such as exercise classes, martial arts classes and dance classes. The hall is also available to hire which enable residents from the local community to host private parties and events. We also help the local community with its car parking problems that arise from the local school, doctors, library and church by offering our large well maintained car park for use.

## **Achievements this Year -**

During the financial year of Sept 20 – Aug 21 the country saw the outbreak of the Corona Virus pandemic which unfortunately saw us shut our doors to the community. However this provided us with the opportunity to do some of that much needed maintenance work, for example upgrading the lighting within the main hall to more energy efficient lighting.

## **Financial Review -**

The yearly accounts were audited and verified by a local resident accountant and they reported there were no anomalies with the accounting records. For further details see the Income and Expenditure summary.

## REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES/MEMBERS OF THE WERRINGTON VILLAGE HALL ON ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST AUGUST 2021 SET OUT ON PAGES 4 TO 6

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiners**

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,

- to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of independent examiner's statement**

My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair' view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement.

## REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES/MEMBERS OF THE WERRINGTON VILLAGE HALL ON ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST AUGUST 2021 SET OUT ON PAGES 4 TO 6

## **Independent examiner's statement**

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

- (1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect, the requirements:

- to keep proper accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act;

- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or

- (2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
