Wing Scout Hut – The Lands, Wing, Bucks, LU7 0TF
Present: Chair – Sue Hogg,
Treasurer – Megan Conroy
GSL – Mark Watson
Trustees: Robert Bridgen, Matt Brentnall, Pete Wiggins,
Parents and Supporters of the young people in the movement.
Welcome note from Chair, thanking everyone for their continued support throughout the year.
RISK & INTERNAL CONTROL
Over the past 12 months The Trustee Board identified the past and current risks to the group as being identified to be:
-
unsecured storage for equipment
-
reduction or loss of leaders.
-
security of group transportation, including minibus and trailers
There were sufficient funds in place to install and secure outdoor equipment, which has now been completed.
There is a noticeable focus on volunteering throughout all social youth run groups, and within a village environment the number of volunteers is degreasing, meaning the reduction of uptake of leaders.
Funds are placed to offset any maintenance required for all transport owned by the group. The minibus is low risk due to its age, however both trailers are required to receive maintenance this year coming.
The Purpose of Scouting
Exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
The Values of Scouting
As Scouts we are guided by these values:
-
Integrity - We act with integrity; we are honest, trustworthy and loyal.
-
Respect - We have self-respect and respect for others.
-
Care - We support others and take care of the world in which we live.
-
Belief - We explore our faiths, beliefs and attitudes.
-
Co-operation - We make a positive difference; we co operate with others and make friends.
All sections are actively engaged with Scouting values, and thrive taking part in challenges, activities and creativity. All young people are invited and encouraged to take part in the programme, especially where this may challenge themselves to develop outside of their own comforts.
Many outdoor events are run each year and there is a cross section of ages where they can all embrace the scouting values together.
Achievements and Performance
The Scout Group has reached 100 years, and embraced the year taking parts in many different events. As well as traditional camping there has also been trips to London and the Lake District. Community events were also created and well attended.
Finance Review
The Group Trustee Board regularly monitors the levels of bank balances, and the interest rates received to ensure the group obtains maximum value and income from its banking arrangements.
