## **Introduction**
Led by Young People, for young people. YFC’s around the country provide their 25,000 members aged between 10 and 28 years with a unique opportunity to develop skills, work with their local community, travel abroad, take part in a varied competitions programme, and enjoy a dynamic social life.
The organisation has been fortunate to have the continued support from Southwell Agricultural Society for which we are incredibly grateful, and we enter our sixtieth year of the YFC office being hosted by Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society at the Showground. The YFC office is well used, both by staff on a weekly basis and the committees make good use of the training room facility.
## **Membership**
We saw our membership decline over the past year, but have an increase in new members across our junior membership. Our largest clubs remains Collingham YFC, Southwell increased their membership this year by 11%.

## **Staff**
Lauren Clark has been the County Development Officer for the past 15 years, but will be leaving the organisation in December 2025. Felicity Rodziewicz who has worked for YFC for the past 7 years, continues as Administrator part time covering membership and competitions, this post is partly funded by the club administration fee. They work flexibly within the YFC office, clubs/events and at home.
## **Volunteers**
Clubs are run by a team of officers which are elected at their own AGM’s, roles include Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Programme Secretary, Sports & Competitions secretary, Club leaders and an Advisory committee. Each club has representatives which attend the county committee meetings, Executive, Show & Rally and Competitions.
The Management committee consists of the President, President Elect, Treasurer, County Chairman, County Vice Chairman, Ex-officio Chairman, the County Development Officer and two members of industry.
It is always a challenge to measure the full value and contribution of the volunteers in our organisation as so many people, such as parents and ex-members help in an informal capacity, as well as our named officers. Our members volunteer weekly within their clubs, and for those members who are involve in County, Area and National committees the commitment is often more than once a week.
We project that we have a minimum of 100 volunteers working weekly at club level plus another 20 supporting at county level, doing a total of 100 hours volunteering a week. Additionally, we ask associates, ex-members, and friends of the organisation to judge, steward or give up their time for many competitions we hold throughout the year, the support of these volunteers is greatly appreciated and without such help YFC would struggle to deliver its vast programme of positive activities.
## **Executive Committee**
This is the decision-making committee, with all other committees and representatives feeding into it. Meetings are chaired by the County Chairman; there are 6 meetings a year, plus the Annual General Meeting in October. The committee also encompasses the Finance & Development committee. Currently there are 38 members of the committee, which includes two representatives from each club, Vice Presidents, Co-opted members from external organisations and the management committee, although the committee is open to any member of Notts YFC.
## **Shows Committee**
This committee is combined and makes decisions and plans regarding YFC’s involvement in the Nottinghamshire County Show, and Southwell Ploughing Match & Show. These two events are a highlight in the YFC calendar; it has 24 members but is open to all members of YFC.
## **Competitions & Rallies Committee**
This committee organise the Sports and competitions programme each year, alongside the Spring Rally and Summer Rally, it is also their job to manage those competitions and encourage membership participation. It has 24 members but is open to all members of YFC.
All the above committees are run by the members, within membership age, all committees are open to all regardless of age, gender, club, or ethnicity.
## **Report (provided by the 24-25 County Chair, Jack Cooper)**
Taking on county chair was never somewhere I saw myself becoming. But as a true grassroots YFC member it was my time to give back to the organisation we all love and cherish so much.
Starting my year as chairman with another successful Santa tractor run. It really is a highlight of many people’s year it’s certainly mine. Seeing the cheer on the whole communities faces makes it all worthwhile. Showing what young farmers is all about. We were very thankful to raise nearly £8,000 from the event, the hard work that staff and members put in really is worthwhile! Moving into the new year and onto county ball where I was honoured to receive the prestigious award of Mr YFC but more importantly to me coming second in senior member of the year. Beating my wife/Vice chair who came third. Congratulations to Mr YFC runners up Oliver Wilson and Joel Cotton of Collingham and to Senior Member of the Year Isabel Chennells, Collingham and Third place Jessica Cooper, Lowdham. Miss Nottinghamshire YFC was won by Lowdham member, Freya Marlow runners up were Lily-Mae Horspool, Brackenhurst and Annabelle Hatcher, Lowdham. We also awarded Situation Vacant to Jessica Cooper, Lowdham and the Melissa Grace Hatton Award to Lucy Wilson, Collingham.
Moving into early spring was my highlight so far of my year in office being a part of Notts YFC, tree planting campaign organised by our amazing president Steven Routledge. It was great to see members from across the county off all ages along with volunteers and parents all getting their hands dirty and stuck in. A proud moment and for years to come we can drive down the A614 watching the progress of all our hard work flourishing under the Greenwood Community Forest scheme.
EMA weekend as always, a fun filled weekend enjoyed by our senior members dressing up as tradesman was a great theme with it being my year as chairman. A much-needed weekend for our members to leave their worries behind them. A really good weekend to mix with other counties in the East Midlands defiantly helping with member mental health. Congratulations to all those who competed on behalf of Nottinghamshire, Elsie, Frankie and Maisie in Junior Speaking, Lily Mae Horspool in Situation Vacant, who won the area round and got the chance to represent us at NFYFC and Jess Cooper and Isabel Chennels in senior situation vacant, Elsie and Daniel in Junior Member of the Year and the mixed Collingham, Cropwell and Worksop Mens Football team.
County show was a fabulous event celebrating VE Day and participating in the main parade amongst other groups, whilst the marquee really did show how many talented passionate members we have
as a county, and gave us a chance to celebrate British Farming. We got our usual two slots in the main ring to race the mowers which was a crowd roaring success. Congratulations to Lowdham who took the win at the show, but overall champs for the 24-25 mower season were Southwell YFC.
Rally is always a highlight of my year seeing our members of all ages competing in many events including the much-awaited great water race. The Bealby family could not have been better hosts, families like this is what keeps our great organisation alive. Congratulations to overall Rally winners Collingham YFC and close runners up Cropwell YFC.
Finally a massive thank you to all our amazing members and staff as well as supporters for your support on my year as chairman. Things haven’t always been easy but together we always pull through in true YFC style.
Other notable events that took place this year was the Presidents Garden Party, hosted wonderfully by Steven and Paula Routledge, a prelude to our 80[th] Anniversary ball in June 2026 and a great opportunity to get some of the older YFC members back in the same room.
## Acknowledgements
Thank you to County President Steven Routledge, retiring after two years in the role, Steven has help guide us and always remains a great support to the team and staff.
Thank you to President Elect Calum Grant for serving in the role for two years and being a great support on the management committee and on behalf of the County a huge thank you to County Chair Jack Cooper. County Vice Chairs Jess and Oliver who have been a great support and worked well as a team.
Further thanks to Kirsty, who’s continued to look after the YFC finances. To Rachel, Natalie and Gina who are valuable additions to the management committee.
The sub-committee chairs and vice chairs have done a fantastic job to ensure the membership gets the most out of their time as a member. In addition, we are supported by YFC members, volunteers, advisory, parents and staff.
Furthermore, we would like to thank those who have been able to support the organisation in the past year; Special mention to Southwell Agricultural Society who have financially supported YFC when there was a loss of local authority funding, Newark and Notts Agricultural Society for hosting the YFC office and meeting room and to the many businesses who have sponsors our events, our officer clothing or have been generous with equipment. As a membership led, charity the work we do would be much harder without your support.

## **1 Accounting Policies**
## **(a) Accounting Convention**
The Accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention, except for investments which are included at market value, and in accordance with applicable United Kingdom accounting standards. The Statement of Recommended Practice "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" and the Charities Act 2011
## **(b) Incoming Resources**
Income is recognised in the period in which the Charity is entitled to receipt and only when the amount can be measured with reasonable certainty. Income is deferred only when the charity has to fulfil specific conditions before becoming entitled to it or where the donor has specified that the income is to be expended in a future period.
## **(c) Resources Expended**
Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis
## **(d) Fund Accounting**
Unrestriced funds are available for the use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity.
Restricted funds are to be used for specified purposes laid down by the donor. Expenditure for those purposes is charged to the fund, together with a fair allocation of overheads and support costs
Designated fund are unrestricted funds that have been designated for specific purposes by the Trustees.
