Risk and Intarnal Control
The Trustee Board has identified the major ri5k5 to which
they believe the Group is exposed, these have been
reviewed and systems have been established to mitigate
against them. The Group maintains a Risk R￿ISter. The
main areas of concern that have been identified are..
Damage to the building, propety and equipmenl. The Group
would request the use of buildings, prop6ty and equipment
from neighbouring organisations such as the community
centro and other Scout Groups. The Group has suffici8nt
buildings and contents insurance in plac8 to mibgate against
permanent loss.
Injury to leaders, helpers, supporters and members. The
Group through the capilatson fees contributes to the Scout
Association's national accid8nt insuranc8 policy. Risk
Assessments are undertaken before all activities and tho
Trustee Board actively follows the Safety Policy of The
Scout Association.
Reduced income from fund raising. The Group is primarily
reliant upon income from subscriptions and fvndraising. The
group does hold a resetve to ensure the continuity of
activities should there be a major ￿dUCtion in income. The
trustee board could raise the value of subscriptions to
increase the incomè to the group on an ongoing basis. 8ither
temporarily or permanenly.
Reduction or loss of leaders. The group is totally reliant upon
voluntoers to run and administer thè acliviti6s of the group. If
there wa5 8 reduction in the number of lèaders to an
unacceptable lev@1 in a particular secb'on or the group as a
whole then there would have to be a conlraclion,
consolidation or closure of a section, and in the worst case
scenario th8 complet& closure of the Group.
Reduction or loss of membets. Thè Group provides activities
for all young people aged 4 to 14. If there was a reduction in
membership in a particular section or the group as whole
then there would have to be a contraction, consolidation or
closure of a section, and in the worst case S￿nariO the
omplete closure ol the Group The Group r8mains in
strong financial position.
ement
continued
Th8 group has in place systems of internal controls that are
designéd to provide reasonable assurance against material
rnismanagement or loss, these include 2 authorisations for
811 payments and a comprehengive insurance policie$ to
ensure that insurable risks are covered.
