Treasurer’s Report

The 2020-2021 financial year for the group had a lot of uncertainty from a financial point of view. The full year was one of virtual lockdown for Scouting Activities with Scouting, nationally and locally, applying a conservative view on the Covid-19 pandemic rules.

The income from membership subscriptions unsurprisingly fell during the year. One knock on effect from that is that future Gift Aid claims will be lowered. The Covid-19 Grants which had been successfully applied for were awarded on a number of criteria. 1. All registered charities could apply for fixed sum awards administered by their local authorities. 2. The Group has responsibility for the upkeep of the scout headquarters which entitled the group to apply for further awards.

The bank balances are looking very healthy at the end of the financial year but the previous income sources will not return to normal levels for some time to come. Additional fundraising activities such as Supermarket Bag Packing may be unlikely to return. Other fundraising methods may need to be found going forwards.

The group membership reduced by around one third during the year as a result of the pandemic restrictions.

The Income and Expenditure Statement contains the following items worthy of note.

  1. Income for the proposed Canada trip is being recorded into a separate bank account to ensure it is kept separate from other group activities.

  2. The group gratefully received Donations of

  3. a. Covid-19 related grants of £22,637.71.

  4. b. £188.70 from Easyfundraising, Amazon Smile and PayPal Giving as cashback from supporters online shopping.

Mr John Lowerson Legacy

The trustees of Mr Lowerson’s Last Will and Testimony have access to Funds which can be made available to the group for maintenance and upkeep of the Scout Headquarters. This will help ensure that the group continues to be viable into the future.
