What we do Lancaster Boys and Girls Club youth sessions continue to thrive and attract a range of young people through the ages of 8- 17 every week from around the Lancaster and Morecambe District. The club holds a variety of activities and sessions on numerous days throughout the week that appeal to the ages of al young people. Thursday evenings Junior Youth Club, focusing mainly upon the ages of 8- 12 (School Year 3- Year 71. Where sees a variety of activities run throughout the building where there is somethin8 for everyone, enabling all young people to have full use of the buildings Potential and have the choice to try new things. Fridays are home to Friday Night Club IFNCI for the ages 11-17 and Saturday Sports ranges through 8-16. The club also provide Holiday Actlvities through the government backed HAF funding scheme, these are provided one week at Christmas and Easter and four weeks over the summer holidays, SATURDAY SPORTS SESSIONS Saturday Sports runs from 5pm-8pm and ages vary from 8-16. the youn8 people enjoy a varled array of sports from Crlcket, football, basketball and Dod8eball. In the summer they enjoying belng outslde on the yard and on the grass where they have blg8er spaces to do summer sports and games. The Lancashire Bo come in to support the club activlties and this year the UV Sport was popular with football UV and C-ricket UV bein8 a favourite

Thursday Junior Youth Club In junior youth club there has been loads of variety this year from Art to Sport with Cook and eat sessions. Youn8 people enjoyed dancing and muslc activities especially when It came to the Christmas party. fé 2, We were supported by the assoclatlon throughout the year from sports actlvltles to mlnute to wln games and ever popular plllar bashlng. Hi We were able to provide free food for the winter months, which in turn enabled us to do cook and eat session with the junior club. This was thanks to fundin8 that was provided through LDCVS from the Westminster fund

Friday Night Club In the Frlday Ni8ht Sessions, the youn8 people had the cholce of games, art, muslc, challenges and other actlvltles to help en8a8e wlth youn8 people In order for them to develop self-esteem, group/team work and to help them better communlcate wlth us in order for conversatlon around Issues and help support areas such as soclal, mental, emotlon and physlcal well belng Young people became mor talk about thelr Issues, helplng them to 'icommunlcate more by asklng If they need upport and help them to develop workin8 as a roup and they Increased confldence.

Residential urlng February 2 24 alf Term, youn8 people had the opportunlty to attend a resldentlal. Thls was open for senlor youth club members from Frlday Nlght Club and the hollday programmes. LANCASTER CITY COUNCIL Promoiino Clty, Coast& Cth¥prrysid• HAFIRIS The Areti Charitable CHAIIITY knqs+OoLS Lancash,ire The positive place for young people for Education Lancaster Bo s and Glr15 Club - Summer Scheme 2023 Lancaster Boys and Girls Club in partnership with CEEP summer scheme this year ran from th th 24 July- 18 Au8USt and were open to senior young people in school years 7- 11. Through HAF funding from the council places were also offered to those on free school meals. Over the course of 4 weeks, we offered the young people a wide range of activities, some of which were thin8S they had never experienced before while trying to focus on healthy living, healthy eatin8, exercise and having respect for the environment. Week I th Monday 24 July - Sports and Actlvities at Lancaster Unlverslty Each Monday we took the young people to the universlty to take part in a variety sports and activitle5. We tried to vary these to appeal to the dlfferent Interests of the youn8 people. The session5 at the unlverslty were a jolnt session with another local summer scheme. This gave the young people the chance to Interact with numerous other young people and allowed the opportunity for bigger teams when taking part in the 5POrts. On this occasion, the young people started off by playing football before lunch, table tennis and badminton after lunch and then basketball for the last session. Throughout the time the sports were running, there were craft activities running alongside for any of the young people not wanting to do a particular sport. This worked well and some young people wanted to engage in some of the sports but were not a5 keen on another. th Tuesday 25 July- Brockholes Windermere The young people were taken to Brockholes in Windermere via a boat from Bowness-on-windermere. They all enjoyed going on the boat and some young people said it was something that they had never done before. Once at Brockholes, the young people ate lunch before joining in with a game of crazy golf. The

young people had an ice cream before either going on the park or playing some football. After a fun filled day we got on the boat back again. Many of the young people mentioned what a good day they had. th Wednesday 26 July- Cook and Eat Session and Cinema Each Wednesdays during the scheme started with a cook and eat session. The young people got involved with preparing, cooking and cleaning up. For the first cook and eat session the young people did various tasks in helping to make breakfast buns (bacon, sausage, vegan sausages, eggs, onion, and mushrooms) and cookies. The youn8 people all enjoyed the food and worked well together under directlon to produce the food. After the session we walked round to the cinema and the young people watched Elemental r4 Ih Thursday 27 July- Morecambe Music and Actlvity Day Thls event was put on by Lancaster City Council and took place in Regent Park. There was a variety of Stalls where the young people could take part In thlngs like cake decorating, food tasting, tie dying t- shirts and tattoos. There was also some games and sports going on, police and fire servlces and music wlth More Music. They also had use of the park. It was a great community event with a good variety of things to do, th Friday 28 July- Sandcastles Waterpark and Toby Carvery The young people had a great time 5wimmSng at Sandcastles Waterpark and worked up a 800d appetite for lunch at Toby Carvery. The meal was a success with all the children getting to enjoy sitting in a restaurant and having a healthy meal. Week 2 th Monday 31 July-sports and Activities at Lancaster University The day started off again with football; the most popular sport. While this wa5 going on, a few other young people got engaged in some craft and some card games. The variety in options meant that none of the young people had nothing to do. After lunch the young people got involved in a mixture of classic dodgeball, dodgeball benchball, badminton and crafts. Not all of the young people got involved in a sport but most took part in at least one sport activity. li

st Tuesday l August- Pool Tournament The young people got involved in a pool tournament with prizes on offer. During the day most of the young people got involved in the competition. There was only a couple who didn't want to take part in the actual competition and those young people played their own games of pool and spent some time with staff playing some games. Food was provided by the venue and the children got to chose their own food from the buffet and sit together at large tables. nd Wednesday 2 Au8USt- Cook and Eat Session and Treasure Trall During thls session some of the young people helped to make an apple crumble while others prepared toppings for the plzzas. Each young person made themselves an individual pizza. They all seemed to enjoy doing this as they could add the toppin8s of their preference. After lunch, the youn8 people set off on a treasure trall around Lancaster using picture clues to guide them along thelr way rd Thursday 3 Au8USt - Beach Day and Activitles When we arrlved in Morecambe we took a short walk down to the RNLI lifeboat Station where we were greeted by the staff. In two 8roups, the young people were able to watch a presentation, try on equipment and sit in a lifeboat. They were really interested in what the staff had to say and asked very relevant questions. All the young people had a great time. We went for lunch before having a bit of time on the beach where some of the young people had a paddle while others sat on the sand or dug big holes. The day ended with getting an ice cream. th Friday 4 August- Kepplewray Activity Centre - Water Sports Funded by Areti Charitable Trust- Joint trip with Stanleys Community Centre in partnership through CEEP This trip really allowed the young people to experience nature in a very fun way and participate in making sure they respected the environment. They started off with gill scrambling with the young people really enjoyed. They worked brilliantly as a team helping each other to navigate some of the trickier areas and helping to keep each other safe. They young people ate lunch by the lake

and the staff discussed with them about the importance of respecting the environment and ensuring all their rubbish was collected. In the afternoon they all went onto the lake in kayaks and a150 got the opportunity to jump in the lake from a pier. All the young people worked together to help pack away all the equipment at the end. Week 3 Ih Monday 07 August- Sports and Activities at Lancaster University After kicking off with football, karaoke and crafts, the young people then also had the options of netball, benchball dodgeball and basketball. There was a mixture of both males and females playing each of the sports and doing craft activities in between. th Tuesday 08 August - Blackpool Stanley Park High Ropes After having lunch and a little tlme in the park, the young people took part in a high ropes sesslon where they were spIIt into two groups. Durin8 the time there, they got the opportunlty to do crate stacking, the lower ropes and the hl8her ropes. The young people had to demonstrate team working skills while trying to get hlgher on the crates. All who participated in this enjoyed it, some groups of young people worked particularly well together and got themselves very hlgh. The young people had a lot of fun of the lower of the hlgh ropes, some really pushlng themselves out of their comfort levels and feeling very proud of themselves. Most young people that did the lower ropes also had a go at doing the higher ropes. Most of the young people had a real sense of pride from what they had achieved. th Wednesday 09 August - Cook and Eat Session and Escape Room5 For this session some of the young people helped to prepare and cook a chicken and vegetable pie and a cheese and onion pie while others got involved in making rice crispy or cornflake cakes. The young people seemed to enjoy all the food. Some of them got heavily involved in cleaning up afterwards. After the food the young people went to the escape rooms. They divided themselves into teams and worked really well together. All teams managed to escape! th Thursday 10 August- Forest Hills Activity Day 13

This day was put on by Lancashire Boys and Girls Club and was a fun day of various activities. On offer throughout the day were pillow bashing, mountain boarding, tag archery, archery and zorbing. Most young people did all the activities on offer. all of them got involved with at least a few. A firm favourite was definitely the mountain boarding, th Friday 11 August- Chlll Factore This trlp was a very popular one. The young people were really excited to 80. They were spllt into two groups and got the chance to do snowboarding with an instructor in each group. The youn8 people differed In their ability and confidence so achieved different thin8s but all that took part had fun. They also dld wall climbing with quite a few of the young people belng able to reach the top. Lunch was provided by the venue so the young people were able to sit in the café area to eat and have that social time. The last activity was going in the snow park. All the young people participated In this part, even the ones that had not wanted to do the others. They all had a brllliant time, Week 4 4•4?. Ih Monday 14 Augu5t- Sports and Activities at Lancaster University For the last session at the university, the young people, the young people again dld a mixture of craft, football, badminton, and classic dodgeball. th Tuesday 15 August- Jump Rush and Bowling The young people all enjoyed an energetic day. Every single person participated and had fun. After spending an hour trampolining they tucked into lunch provided by the restaurant at the bowling establishment. They chose their own bowling groups after lunch so that they were happy with the teams that they were playing in. th Wednesday 16 August- Cook and Eat Session and Cinema 14

For the last cook and eat session the young people had requested to make chicken and vegetable tortilla wraps. Again they divided up and helped with all the various preparations and cooking. They enjoyed being able to assemble their own wraps once all the food had been cooked. After the food, the young people watched Barbie at the cinema. Ih Thursday 17 August- Williamson Park The young people enjoyed a lovely day at the park. We spent a while walking around the grounds and got the opportunity to witness a duck being rescued. The young people were very interested and asked a lot of questions. Some of them enjoyed time In the park while others admired the scenery from the top of the memorlal and discussed some of the history with staff. They got to observe butterflies In the butterfly house, feed Meerkats and hold a varlety of animals in the petting zoo such as 8uinea pigs, a bearded dragon and a blue ton8ued skink. Ih Friday 18 August- Blackpool Pleasure Beach The final day of the scheme was a trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. M05t of the young people went off in groups but a couple of them opted to stay with staff. Everyone had to check in at lunch time to collect a meal voucher. All of the young people had an amazing time. The whole scheme was a Success with young people thanking staff unprompted and many messages of thanks posted on the facebook group.
