Kirkby-In-Furne83 Communlty Centre
provldes meeting, sports and lelsure
facllitles over a 6 acre slte for the
community of Klrkby-In-Furness. The
alms of the organlsatlon are to
encourage Increased partlclpation In
sport and well-being events and
activltles, to Improve the health and well
being as well as facllltatlng communlty
coheslon.
We have pitches for crlcket, football, a
MUGA (multi-use games area) with
tennis courts, netball courts, a
basketball court and a flve -a -slde
football pltch. We have a bowling green,
a chlldren's play area as well as
Informal recreatlon space. There are
three changlng rooms and a functlon
roomlkltchen and toilets In the maln
buildlng.

The community centre Is open to all
resldents of the clvll parish of Klrkby
Ireleth, and Is well used by resldents
and vlsltors allke for fitness classes, art,
local hlstory and social groups as wall
as prlvats famlly celebrations.
The vlllage school uses the facilities for
Sports dayg PE lesson5 and as qulet
location for SA Ts tests.
The village toddler group {Little Acorns)
meet In the hall weekly In term-tlme.
The hall Is used as an outreach post
office one mornlng a week, followed by
soup lunch once a month funded by
Kirkby charitie8. The hall Is also used as
a polling station when there is an
electlon.

The thirty year old ch51dren's
playground was replacement In May
2024 following a period of fund raising
to flnance its replacement.
Each year the Community Centre has a
Villa
e Gala.

The post office, soup lunch and growing
local history group have attracted a
wide range of users across the
communlty, enabllng people to come
together.

The communlty centre has provided a
venue for a fell racing event alongside
the Gala, but the local fell racing group
now have an event based at the centre.
We have also attracted Bee Keeping
meetlngs and church meetlng8.
Our project to ralse funds to replace the
exlstlng 30 year old playground,
successfully concluded durlng the
per5od Oct 23 to Sept 24. The new
playground wlll benefit local children
and make the hall more attractlve for
children's partles.
